The Science Fiction Bookstore

Absolutely magical!! My wife and I have a large collection of strategic board games back in the states, and we have never seen such an inventory! Plus, I am a huge Harry Potter fan and I had more fun on the top floor Harry Potter room than when we went to Harry Potter world in Orlando Florida!

Great comic and general nerd store. Lots of choice and the prices are reasonable. It was busy but still able to look around. As a tourist it would be useful to have a section of local or at least Swedish heritage comics or graphic novels so that I could focus on those but can't complain as they do have everything.

They have several book sections, but also art supplies, board games, gacha balls and even a cozy space for children. My family laughed when I showed them the posters later on, they are hilarious and totally reasonable. I got very surprised, it was a cultural shock to find so much stuff in original language, even in Japanese. I was like "are there mangas in Swedish?", I think I only found a couple. I recommend the place in case you want to gift anyone or treat yourself in such an innocent and intellectual pleasure, you just need to search for the treasure properly shelf by shelf. The tiny steps are also appreciated. Just. Don't. Eat. Inside.

Such an amazing store, I wish had longer time to visit it, came sadly very close to closing hours but found many amazing merch of stuff I never seen in other European stores like Hollow Knight! Was very amazed it was sold for fair price as well 🫶 Will visit again once I have the chance. + other fandoms, and general adorable items and of course many types of books!

Such a fun stop—my friends are avid readers so we spent a good amount of time here. I especially love how nerdy the whole place feels. Lots of tributes to each world many of us are fans of: ATLA, LOTR, DND, HP, and so much more.

Science Fiction-Bokhandeln in Stockholm is an absolutely iconic place for any fan of science fiction, fantasy, horror, manga, and games. It’s one of the best-stocked stores of its kind in Northern Europe. A few things worth knowing about it: It’s located in Gamla Stan, Stockholm’s Old Town — the location itself adds to the charm. They offer a huge selection of books in English, Swedish, and sometimes other languages, including new releases, classics, collector’s editions, and graphic novels. There’s an impressive range of merchandise, figurines, puzzles, board games, T-shirts, and other pop culture items related to sci-fi, fantasy, and horror. Their manga and anime section is particularly strong for Scandinavia. They also host book signings, premieres, and fan events. It’s a place with real character — the staff are passionate and truly know what they’re selling. Even if you don’t buy anything, it’s worth visiting just for the atmosphere. If you’re into this kind of stuff, Science Fiction-Bokhandeln is an absolute must-see when you’re in Stockholm.

In Stockholm’s Old Town, there is a truly wonderful store that we decided to visit on the second day of our trip. And we were not disappointed. In fact, it turned out to be the best place we visited during our entire four-day stay in Stockholm. The shop left us with the warmest and most pleasant impressions, especially because we absolutely love places like this. The store offers an enormous selection of books on a wide range of topics and genres. There is a whole section dedicated to the world of Harry Potter, as well as many themed board games and books related to video games like Warhammer, The Last of Us, and Minecraft. There’s even an entire stand devoted to Star Wars, featuring plenty of figurines, Star Wars books, Harry Potter books, and themed mugs and magical trinkets from the world of Hogwarts. As you enter the first floor, you’re immediately greeted by a huge collection of anime-related books. In fact, anime seems to be the most represented category on the ground floor. There’s also a large display with posters of popular titles like Pokémon, Star Wars, and various video games. The staff are incredibly friendly. When we were looking for the Star Wars section and couldn’t find it on the ground floor, a kind and polite staff member walked us upstairs, showed us the exact location of the stand, and wished us a great day. It was a genuinely warm and helpful experience. If you’re a fan of Tolkien’s “The Lord of the Rings”, you won’t be disappointed either. The store features a great number of books dedicated to the series—various editions, beautifully illustrated volumes, and behind-the-scenes books about the film adaptation. If you enjoy movies, series, anime, or the world of fantasy and magic, this store is definitely for you. We came from Estonia, and this place truly felt like a gem. We wholeheartedly recommend it.

One of the greatest bookstores I've been too! Has great selection of books in English and Swedish, as well as such an expansive array of games, models, and supplies for every hobbyists! The value here is pretty standard, but at such a variety there's something for everyone. The service was also very good! Friendly staff!

This was a spot recommended to us and I was so pleased with what we found! It's perfect for folks who have a favorite fandom of any kind, and overall a good place to pop into on your way through Stockholm - it's not hard to find something you like, no matter who you are!

I wandered in here out of curiosity and was really impressed by this store! It is much bigger than you expect and had a huge variety of books, toys, merchandise, games etc! I was also pleasantly surprised at the huge variety of English graphic novels! I would defiantly recommend this store to all the comic book geeks out there! I can't comment on service or pricing as I didn't buy anything this time. But I would be hopeful that they are knowledgable on the products being sold

Wandered into this WONDERFUL Mecca to Sci Fi! They have a terrific selection of everything Sci Fi! On the top floor they have a nice selection of game materials plus a table for enthusiasts to meet and play if so desired!? I would offer my generous recommendation to all to visit this fabulous place!

Great book store for everyone who loves Harry Potter , Star wars, Games of Throne , Lord of the rings , Manga, japanese kawaii stuff, Totoro etc .. goodies, clothes, books, board games .... you can find anything !

This place is absolutely fantastic! I used to go regularly when I worked in Gamla Stan and had the pleasure of going there this week while I was on vacation. There is a great selection of books in English and the selection in general cannot be beat for those interested in SciFi or fantasy. I go there for the books and am never disappointed with the selection not only of new books but also wonderful books written a number of years back as well. There are also non-book related treasures such as Harry Potter memorabilia and loads of other stuff. I wish this bookstore was in my town! Love love love it!

This is the geekiest store in Stockholm. Whether you're looking for a Warhammer figure, the latest sci fi-novel in English or Swedish, or a Harry Potter wand - this is where you'll find it. They have a huge selection of t-shirt, books, comics, action figures, board games, DVD and Blueray movies and general merchandise from fantasy and sci fi-themed books, movies and tv series. You can find everything from the companion cube cookie jar from Portal to a Lord of the Rings t-shirt and beyond. Apart from the geeky board games they have a small selection of English board games, like Monopoly.

What a neat store, I stumbled across it. Great selection of books and figures. Something for everyone in here. I had trouble leaving, so much to look at. Can't wait to go back :)

This may be the most famous bookstore in Sweden, and for good reason. Loving it is the default setting of any human being, and I am no different. Sure, there is a great selection of all things fantasy and sci-fi; books, games, movies, toys, trinkets, posters, t-shirts, what have you, and much of it in English (they have the selected works of Robin Hobb, Patrick Rothfuss, Mark Lawrence and many other authors that you should read everything by, if you haven't already, which I assume you have), but that's not the point. The winning argument for Sci-fi bokhandeln is the service. They will get *anything* for you, for the best price you're likely to find anywhere, and they'll do it with an enthusiastic smile. I dare you to interact with a member of the staff and leave without feeling like you've just made a new friend. P.S. Don't make the mistake of carrying a suitcase into the store. I once went in to look around and accidentally spent SEK 2500 on books alone, just because I had a suitcase to put them in. You judge me now, but you just try it. /G.G.

A HUGE selection of everything geek related. Need a Harry Potter wand? Not a problem! Searching for Dr. Who gifts for your friends? Drop by. Books? Comics? You name it. Table games? See the upstairs section. This is not one of those hole-in-the-wall places. It's really, really big... You will not regret stopping by.

Extremely bad and rude service. They don't want to help you at all. It's a shame because they have a pretty decent selection of sci-fi books but either way it's waaaaaaay too expensive. If you're that expensive you should at least have some humans working for you instead of people who do anything to put you down. Don't go to this place and don't ever support them.

Sweden for some reason doesn't have the same love of comics and D&D and MtG as the states, so this gets an extra star just for being available in a nice location. If you are looking for science fiction books, you could easily rate this five stars. But I am a nerd in search of other kinds of things as well as science fiction (such as D&D and MtG), which they don't carry.

As an expat that has moved to Sweden, finding books to read was a challenge.. Until I found this store.. ONE of the only reasons for me to make the trek into downtown! Or if I am being forced for other reasons to go in.. A stop at this store is a must! Even my 6 year old loves to go here! Christmas shopping here is a breeze as well, as it has games and books and collectibles! The staff speak Swedish as well as English, and have always been helpful and knowledgeable! On the off chance the book I want is not in stock, they order it for me and it arrives very fast! All in All... a great place!
