Main website for SFER museum is pretty confusing as far as trying to figure out which location to pick/visit as there isn’t many photos. We visited this location first and I quickly realized, this was not the one I wanted to check out. 400 pezos (almost $20US) is a ton of money to walk through a museum you can see in full just from standing at the front door. That was a direct quote from the person working the door. They did give us helpful advice though! They suggested that we instead pay to go to the restaurant first, and then use our receipt for admission to the museum. This is the ONLY way I’d suggest you visit. The restaurant was delicious ! You are required to pay 600 pesos in advanced as your meal credit - if you go above 600 pesos with your food and drinks, you then pay the additional amount above 600. Be sure to review your receipt before paying to verify that they in fact have removed the 600 pesos (they forgot to do that for us but I caught it by reviewing before paying), from your total due. I managed to keep my dinner and drink to 600 pesos, so not bad considering your receipt gains you admission into the museum.
The museum is quite beautiful for sure but it super small and though we visited during low season (11/12/24) we still had to deal with a bunch of “influencers” wanting to sit and lay in every single corner to take 1636729191 photos, unfazed by others who are also wanting to capture photos for themselves without someone in the foreground and background. So be sure to keep that in mind when you’re trying to decide on what location to visit. For the above reasons, I’d personally suggests folks either pass on visiting this location or just do so via your restaurant receipt, since the location is super tiny and you can walk through it in 10 minutes (not including having to wait for people to get out of your photos).
Personally, I’d instead head to SFER IK UH MAY, which is in the jungle. Now THAT location is totally worth the cost! We spent 2 hours walking around taking photos. They have a net sections to walk on, a hanging bridge to cross, and you can get views of the jungle from the rooftop. It is so so beautiful and provides so many more photo opportunities. We visited that location on 11/15/24 and spent a good chunk of our time alone which meant, not having to deal with people in your photos. We also spent an additional hour at the restaurant eating, and taking photos. I’ll be sure to add a Google review for that location, with tips on how to get there affordably, for those who’d like to avoid price gouging taxis. We were told it would cost $70US one way, from Tulum central, to get there 🤯
