"Barefoot on the cold concrete floors, I felt relief from the tropical heat as a space with no straight lines unfolded: an undulating floor, curved walls, and round doors and windows. Soft light cascaded through slits in a dome ceiling made with thousands of bejuco vines; actual trees grow inside, and innumerable pothos spill their heart-shaped leaves all around. Following a spiraling pathway upward, I looked down to see what seemed an immense, unusual tree, where Japanese botanical artist Azuma Makoto and his team, perched on scaffolding, were rearranging dissimilar leaves and flowers, placing and removing details as if growing it from scratch in real time—Mexx, his site-specific installation at Sfer Ik that’s unlike anything he’s ever done before. What a wonderful, peaceful and meaningful space. Concrete is typically cold and modern but in this space the organic shapes, wood combined with music and the well thought out designs (combining concrete, nature, natural light, water, plant life, etc) all in perfect harmony. This space is proof that we can have harmony between human built structures and nature. Only wish I had brought a book or set aside time for meditation 🧘‍♀️

I loved it. It was deep in the jungle, and it looked like another world. We had the place nearly to ourselves since it was off season. Natural materials, live plants, and great for photos. For $50, we got a 600 food credit for the dining and access to the whole park. Pricey, but we used our coupons to get an assortment of juices. A beautiful jungle experience and people will ask you where you went

The museum and restaurant are separate experiences; I wish I could separate my comments. The museum entrance was 400 pesos and the restaurant/garden area is 1000 pesos (which included a 600 peso credit at the restaurant.) The museum is peaceful and impressive and worth a visit. The restaurant is WAY WAY overpriced and not very good. If I am going to pay 700 pesos for a platano appetizer it should be more than 3 small pieces drenched in mole sauce - almost like they were hiding the taste of the platano. The hummus wasn't bad but 500 pesos for a pretty standard bowl of hummus is ridiculous. Go to the museum - skip the restaurant.

The best kept secret of Mexico. Hidden in the jungle, the trip getting there is an adventure on it's own. And what a gorgous, botanical barbapapa adventure it was! The building, the art, the gardens. An unforgetable experience.

Got here before 10:30am on a Monday. The road to get in is not paved, so quite bumpy with potholes! Drive carefully. There was parking on premises and a worker guided us into our spot. We paid with card. We only paid the 400MXN fee to see the inside of the museum. It’s 1000 with 600 towards consumption to see the garden area as well. We probably would have done this if we had more time! However we were satisfied with just the inner part of the museum. It was incredibly beautiful to walk around and admire the architecture. Also so many amazing photo ops! Highly recommend visiting if you’re in Q.Roo. There is no time limit. One thing to note is no shoes are allowed inside so bear this in mind if you have sensitive feet/ medical conditions. Walking on the wooden parts of the floor felt like acupressure lol

I have an update regarding the price. Unlike what I read in other reviews, the 400 peso is just for the museum, without the beautiful exhibits in the garden. If you want to see it all, you need to pay *1000* peso each, including 600 refund in the restaurant. No way to get a fare price just for the art. It is like they force you to eat there. This may be fare if you are hungry anyway but we came right after lunch so had to give it up 😔 Next day we came hungry enough to enjoy a nice dinner with the lovely gardens, right after visiting the amazing museum. The restaurant is too pricey, even paid 240p for a bottle of mineral water... But the food was delicious.

Breathtaking architecture and impressive construction of this museum. We took a lot of pictures here and worth it to pay 400 pesos for certain access. We wished we had spent the whole day if we had more time! We recommend getting here by a car because it's quite a drive from Tulum+ the dirt road leading to the entrance was super bumpy.

This is a wonderful place - I've not been anywhere like it. It's also a great wet weather activity as it's almost all indoors. It takes about an hour to look around, but I suggest taking some time just to enjoy being in an amazing environment. There are cushions on the floor. It's all very peaceful and comfortable. You take your shoes and socks off as you enter the building. There's a cafe attached that does lunches and cakes (we didn't eat there, so can't comment).
