A great place to see a lot of Tang dynasty art and murals. It was pretty packed and stuffy when we went (prior to COVID), and it wasn't the most peaceful museum experience, with people yelling, tour groups pushing and it just gave an overall chaotic experience to the museum. Our main reason for coming here was to see the Tang dynasty murals that are housed here. This is a separate entrance fee ($35 USD at the time) and you're required to wear shoe coverings and no pictures are allowed. This exhibit was extraordinarily quiet and peaceful and the murals are displayed in a captivating and powerful way, reminiscent of their original home in the tombs. Note that although some scrolls in this exhibit portray themselves to be authentic, many of them are actually replicas, as the actual scrolls are in museums abroad.
Note: Visited prior to COVID, so things may be different.
