Great hotel in great location. We only stayed for one night but we got a room with a balcony, more than enough space for us, facilities were good and the room comfortable. Hotel is in a great location in stone town, only a short walk down to the water or towards the markets, close to everything you might need. Service warm and friendly, with a great offering for breakfast. Would definitely recommend staying here if you are looking for a central location and comfortable hotel with all the amenities. As I think has been mentioned in other reviews or by the hotel, there is no direct road access to the hotel, so will need to keep that in mind for your taxi driver. It’s only a short walk, maybe 2-3mins to the nearest road

Charming and welcoming stay in Stone Town Shaba Boutique Hotel has a warm, authentic atmosphere that fits perfectly with the charm of Stone Town. The building has character, and everything was clean and well looked after. The staff were consistently friendly and helpful, making the stay feel easy and relaxed. A nice touch: you’re often offered a cup of delicious hibiscus tea – small detail, but very appreciated.

We stayed two nights at the hotel. One night in the Suite and one in the standard double room. It must be said that the difference between the two room types is huge, as we found the standard room to be truly small. Other than that, the hotel is very clean and well-maintained.

Didn't stay but stopped our large bags off for a walk around the town, afterwards they booked a taxi for us to do to Paje, and even gave us juice while we waited. Amazing service nice looking place

Very accommodating staff. Nice breakfast and in the heart of Stone Town, so much so that vehicles can not reach right to the hotel, so be prepared to walk with your luggage a short distance to the vehicle

We spent one night in the suite, which offered plenty of space for our stay. When we arrived, it was later than we had anticipated, and the check-in process felt a bit rushed, as the staff seemed slightly overwhelmed. Although the staff member kindly offered to carry our backpacks, he struggled a bit with them up the stairs, making us feel a bit guilty for not carrying them ourselves. The suite was indeed spacious, though we noticed it didn’t have a balcony, which would have been a nice touch. The bathroom featured an open floor plan, which unfortunately led to water pooling on the floor during showers. Additionally, more shelf space for toiletries would have been appreciated. The air conditioning worked well, but we found the mattress to be on the firmer side, which might not suit everyone’s preference. Our room was located on the second level facing the street, resulting in some noise, even with the shutters closed. Thankfully, I had earplugs with me, which helped a lot. On a positive note, breakfast was a highlight of our stay! In addition to a generous buffet, we enjoyed the option of ordering eggs or avocado toast, which featured an incredibly generous amount of avocado spread. Overall, I would recommend this hotel for a short stay.

I stayed two nights at the hotel. Employees were nice and charming. Location is in the middle of a labyrinth. Just keep in mind that you cannot reach the hotel by car; you have to walk about 500 m to reach the parking. This experience was part of this pleasant stay! Thank you, Shaba Boutique!

We booked Shaba Boutique quite last minute when our trip changed slightly, but so glad we did. This is definitely not a 2* star hotel, and we would highly recommend staying here. We booked a suite on the first floor. The room was so spacious, and comfortable, and had everything we needed. The air conditioning and fans were very welcome. The whole hotel is spotlessly clean and the decor is stunning, with lots of unique antiques and art pieces around every corner. We really loved the spice tables too! The filtered water available in large dispensers on the landing was brilliant and so convenient! The location is fantastic for exploring Stone Town, and is in a really lovely quiet area. We didn't hear a single call to prayer, (which while expected staying in a Muslim area and not an problem) was a very pleasant surprise. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and the breakfast was fresh and sufficient, with a selection of fruits, pastries, eggs, teas and coffee. Thanks for a great stay!
