The food was awesome but it’s a small place and they really pack them in there. You kinda feel like you can hear every conversation going on at every table. Very loud for me,as I prefer a more relaxed quiet dinning experience. But the food and service were great.

Went here on a Friday night without a reservation but were able to get a table for 2 quickly. We had the hamachi, hot rock (American wagyu), the Frida and the Korean tacos. Everything was delicious - fresh & flavorful - except the Frida, which was just blah. Service was very friendly and the small place has really interesting decor. Street parking was easy to get but you do have to pay ($6 for 3 hours).

I stopped in here for dinner with some friends and we had a great experience with the food. The atmosphere was a lot of fun! Our waiter wasn’t having a great day, but we made the best of it! I would go back!

Google
Unique atmosphere as you walk downstairs to a dark, narrow Asian inspired restaurant. The decor has a very Park City vibe, especially in the bathroom. The sushi options are fresh and presented well. It's the best sushi in the area but it's also very expensive.

Google
Shabu is a must visit! It’s a local favorite. The food is delicious and what really sets this place apart is the people. Chelsey, our waitress, was hands down the best we’ve ever had. She’s incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, offering spot-on recommendations that made our meal even better. Whether you're a local or visiting Park City, this restaurant delivers on every level!

Google
This place is so fun! Such a fun and friendly environment. The hot rock is a bit pricy, but if you're picky about your beef you will be very pleased! Our table of 8 all enjoyed our dishes. Thank you!!

Google
Nothing good to say about this place. The Japanese wagyu steak hot rock was mediocre at best. It’s a cheap cut of steak and the butter was awful. The Komodo dragon roll was just all together awful. I had sushi at the supermarket 2 days ago that was better. The Korean BBQ tacos were good and the best thing we had. The duck fried rice was solid but nothing special. Service was just ok but the worst part was they only had reservations available at 5:30. I did not want to eat that early. We were there til 7pm and the place was literally empty. At least 12 open tables which is a lot for a small place. Would never come here again. For a $200 tab there are much better choices.

Have been a customer at Shabu for many years. The food and service is always stellar and on point. Our dinner experience last Monday was no exception. The wait staff are consistently professional, friendly and go out of their way to accommodate any request. The yellow tail pinwheel is to die for! Cool vibes, insane artwork and a fun atmosphere to boot.

Yelp
Pros Good sushi taste Good service with refills Has an Asian+skiing theme Miso soup nice and salty Cons Very loud Sushi was not constructed well

Katherine N.

Yelp
The entire staff is so rude - they act like you should be thankful they even let you in. It's crowded, you are bumping elbows with the people next to you. Ambiance is nil because there are so many people talking you can't even hear the party you are with. The sushi is over priced and not that great. Yuki Yama at the bottom of Main is way better. The other dishes are trying to be fancy but are just expensive and unsatisfying. The only thing we had worth anything was the hot rock with wagyu beef. Cocktails were eh- I'd rather get drinks at Flannagan's and have a friendly bartender than get a 1/2 full martini with a sneering waitress. I apologize to all the staff that I bothered you and made you work. SORRY.

Yelp
Excellent food! Yellowtail jalapeño, pot stickers. Nigiri salmon, albacore, maguro. Hot rock 50/50. Chicken karage. Fast and excellent service! Great sake Hakutsuru bottle great value. Restaurant is always full! Hard to get a reservation, but totally worth it! Our favorite restaurant in PC.

Daryl K.

Yelp
We had made a reservation just in case because we heard it's usually pretty busy, it is a small space so reservations definitely make it easier. Our group all ordered sushi rolls and some sake. The rolls I had were pretty good and some different flavors from some I usually have. Really enjoyed the cilantro in the Cost roll and then the yellow widow had a hint of citrus with almost like a lemon zest. Both rolls were a refreshing taste and full of favor. The service was good as well, our waiter was more than patient as we tried to figure out drinks and food and offered info as we asked. Would definitely come back!

Cori W.

Yelp
AN absolute MUST! If I could eat here everyday I would. The miso cod is to die for. Their sushi rolls are phenomenal. The fire cracker shrimp is definitely a starter you have to get. Do not leave without ordering their white tail fish - it's incredible. The cocktails are great too. Most employees at this place have worked there for 15+ years - they are the best in the business and know what they are doing. Chef's Kiss!!!!

Tasha M.

Yelp
Make reservations early because dinner time usually has long waits, especially on weekends. Once we got our table, our waiter was friendly and made sure we had our drinks filled and quickly brought out our food when it was ready, given the busy night. We really enjoyed every dish that came out. My bf had the sushi, and I had the wagu as my main meal. We shared the stuffed dates and pot stickers with our friends. All was delicious and gone by the end of the night. We would come again but will know to make reservations ahead of time.

Amanda P.

Yelp
A favorite always! Personable staff, amazing food. Would recommend making reservations well in advance.

Shady A.

Yelp
Amazing! No spoilers, but everything is great! Music, Food, Environment, Service. You name it, its Great!

Jonn S.

Yelp
Favorite spot in PC. Excellent Sashimi selection. Try the Sushi bar - Tim and team will take care of you!!

Jessica N.

Yelp
I may be the first person who has let the hostess know that "Reservations guys?" is not a greeting for guests. That, in addition to team members stepping on guests shoes without saying excuse me, and walking through groups of people patiently waiting to be "greeted" by the hostess without saying excuse me. I'm glad this place was reservation only and that we didn't get the absolute pleasure and distinct honor of being able to be served by these incredibly polite and courteous team members!!!!! I'm sure I wouldn't have had a single mishap if we did eat there!!!!

Kenny H.

Yelp
Great food! Mountain vibes all around. Really enjoyed being here after a day on the slopes! Service was excellent! Thank you!

Chelsea C.

Yelp
Super small restaurant, easy to miss. Got lucky with the last walk in table on a busy Saturday night. The food was good, nothing crazy to rave about but it was good. The drinks were just okay. Sushi was very underwhelming, bbq sizzle plate was delicious. Overall I'd say it was overpriced for what it is but that is to be expected in the area.

Patrick C.

Yelp
I stopped in for a quick lunch while on a work trip. The staff were very kind and helpful, and the food was delicious. The sushi was as fresh as it could have been and tasted great. The pork belly buns were also fantastic. I'm glad I gave Shabu a shot!

Zachary S.

Yelp
This place was amazing. Very small downstairs space that was warm and inviting. I went during Sundance so it was crowded, but it still had great service. The Korean BBQ taco meat was amazing. The taco shell was scallion pancake which I wasn't a huge fan of. Fluffy and soft. The hot rock was out of this world. I ate one course at a time and took my time eating. The rock stayed hot the entire time and cooked the wagyu perfectly. The yellowtail Jalepeno was the show stopped. Amazing quality fish and great flavor. The wait staff was amazing. Very attentive during one of the busiest weeks of the year. Highly recommend

Yelp
Decided to come for our anniversary dinner and it was a unique experience for sure! It's a basement restaurant in PC so definitely small. To the point I waited about two minutes after my wife sat down due to waiting on a waitress to take the order of a different table, then was bumped into probably 10+ times the rest of the night. Not the best layout. After sitting we did wait about 10 minutes for the waitress, seemed a bit unorganized. Food was delightfully unique. We wanted something outside a typical fancy steakhouse and this ticked the boxes. Edamame was a bit overpriced IMO, even for PC. We got the Wagyu hot rock, it was flavorful and a fun experience, not the best wagyu I've ever had but that's probably due to the thin cuts not the lack of quality. Wife loved her sushi. We also got the bao buns and they were fantastic. Overall a unique eatery I'd recommend to anyone looking for a special eats for their Park City trip

Michelle B.

Yelp
Great people and great food! We got a bottle of sake x2, tons of appetizers to share, the black cod; you cannot miss this, and yellow tail collar. It was all fantastic! This is not to be missed! It's a smaller place, but they fit lots of table and people in when needed. Adorable Park City decor and fun metal work. The bao buns are my second fav behind the black cod. You gotta visit this place!

Qiao L.

Yelp
Worst sushi I have ever had. The rice is very hard and icy cold. The tempura is definitely not Japanese style.

Madeline H.

Yelp
Best sushi roll I've ever had in my life. Delicious cocktails. Bartenders are great, definitely recommend sitting at the bar.

Wesley S.

Yelp
HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Amazing as always. Excellent service and the food was awesome. Ambiance was great. Place is small so make reservations.

Ellena K.

Yelp
Good sushi! The service was really great. We were able to sit outside in the summer and the vibe was really nice.

Peter B.

Yelp
This was a recommendation form a friend. Our expectations where not met. The service was sub par. Fir example. Lay a sashimi batter in front of us but not describe what type of fish is where in the plate. A lychee maritno with no lychee fruit.... Small portions. Dusty metal art on the wall. Music that had NOTHING to do with the ambient. Think "Alexa, play music you want nobody to like from the mid ninties" and "Hey Alexa, turn it up to a volume they is just loud enough to be pretty annoying." our waitress was obviously done with the night in terms of effort. Basically, wouldn't go there again. Clean the place, get a better menu. Better prices while you are at it.

Kevin H.

Yelp
I have no idea how this place could ever receive a rating of less than 5 stars. The food is absolutely amazing and the service is even better. Love the crew at Shabu!

Max B.

Yelp
One of the best yet easiest to miss jewels in Park City! Excellent food with great service! The dining area can be a bit snug, but it does not hinder the experience! Make sure to grab some hot-rocks and to try their wide selection of appetizers and rolls!

Carl B.

Yelp
Any review you see on Yelp that is negative is just a rich snob complaining. Food is fantastic and the vibes are great. Don't miss out.

Robert W.

Yelp
I had some friends in from out of town...they told me to take them to my favorite spot. Hands down my favorite spot in town is Shabu! What Kevin and Robert have created is amazing. My friends couldn't say enough positive things about our meal. We will be back!

Laura C.

Yelp
This place is so fun for group lunches. All you can eat buffet style shabu! The service is always great and I always leave full and happy!

Kerry L.

Yelp
Hole in the wall place. Literally you had to find their sign and walk down to the basement. We made our reservation for 7pm and was seated right away. It was super crowded and loud. Also, they should replace their kitchen exhaust fans as it was overwhelming. However, once food arrived, we were in haven. Had pork buns, freestyle edamame, half/half wagyu on hot stone, pot stickers, and few deserts. Half/half wagyu was a hit. Definitely a must try. Love the small servings/plates options. This is must for us whenever we return to Park City

Yelp
$150 would have been better spent if it fell down a storm drain on Main Street. -went here for dinner in 2019 and it was a good experience, I liked it. -returned in 2023 with my girlfriend and it was awful. We were one of TWO tables the entire night and they stuck us in the tiny corner. Drinks were not good and very weak, I could have performed surgery after two cocktails. Sushi was NOT GOOD. No other way to spin it. Couldn't come back. One roll was so bad I tried to choke it down to be polite, but decided to leave it all on the plate ultimately. Waitress awkwardly grabbed my glass by reaching over and through me instead of communicating, had the tact of a cab driver unfortunately. When my girlfriend received her second drink the waitress touched my girlfriend's straw and put it in the other glass (no). Ambience was nonexistent as the place was empty. Got to listen to kitchen talk about mushrooms and mountain biking, which would be fine if they knew how to make sushi. Girlfriend offered to take a photo for a group of cute old ladies dining there, this was by far the highlight of shabu.

Liam B.

Yelp
Very cool Tokyo styled restaurant. The staff was amazing, I was the last one in there and they were all super polite and enjoyed talking to us. Creative menu and cocktail list, I had the lychee sake drink, reminded me almost of a last word, I do wish I swapped out the vodka for gin or a mezcal to add another layer to the drink, but it was great nonetheless. Hostesses were fun to talk to and enjoyed the surprising busy night for a fall Thursday. The food was great as well, glad we got the hot pot for a 'desert' was too full to do anything the rest of the night. Their house beer was good as well, so recommend.

Jodi V.

Yelp
Great service! Amazing food! We went here by accident and spent so much, get the sparkling sake!

Alex K.

Yelp
Tim, Koji, and Ian were all excellent and took care of us really well. They are the chefs/server at the bar - make sure to sit by the bar and ask for them.

Kreg V.

Yelp
I am a fellow restaurant in Parkcity... This is the best restaurant in terms of quality and uniqueness. If you're lucky enough to get into this place, you're in for a tree on top of the quality and greatness is pricing similar to four years ago KEVIN and his brother had absolutely done an amazing job moving to Park City decades ago from Chicago Just to be able to slide down the hill on their skis. If you're in Park city and don't go here you are the one that missed out.

Mikayla W.

Yelp
This is my favorite restaurant in Park City. SHABU I LOVE YOU. Never had a single dish disappoint. Service is great- they work hard! Sushi and Shishido peppers definitely improve my quality of life on a regular basis:) Much love and thank you!

D R.

Yelp
Superb little joint. Downstairs dark and intimate, while back patio bright and intimate. No matter, fun menu with tasty treats (even kimchi).

Kenny C.

Yelp
A few thoughts after having a nice dinner with my family. Prices of entrees are largely arbitrary and are 2-3x the price of most restaurants (and this is coming from someone living in San Francisco). Example ~$40 teriyaki chicken. Food is okay, about what you might expect from anywhere you go that has 3 stars. The sushi is where I had the biggest problem. The rice was undercooked and under seasoned (if at all). The fish was meh, any worse and I probably wouldn't have eaten. Service was good. I think they should take a look at their menu pricing and either improve the quality of their food or adjust their prices according to the quality of food. Take everything I say with a grain of salt because I'm fairly spoiled by being surrounded by amazing Chinese/japanese/Thai/Burmese etc restaurants.

Yelp
This review is for Amber!! My fiancé and I ate at Shabu last night for Valentine's Day and it was such an amazing experience. The food was absolutely incredible and the service was amazing! Amber was so friendly and helpful - with us as well as the tables around us. My fiancé and I both work as servers in Park City and we agree that the restaurant experience at Shabu with Amber is unmatched!

Jen B.

Yelp
Hubby and I were in Park City for our birthdays and settled on Shabu for dinner...It did not disappoint! From the atmosphere to the food to the friendly staff it was one of the best dining experiences we've had in recent memory! We had a 6PM reservation and we're a bit early but they seated us right away. The server had knowledge of the menu and offered great suggestions. And the food!!!! Not only was everything we ordered delicious and cooked perfectly but it was so prompt, no looking back at the kitchen to see if our food was coming. Definitely our new go-to place on Main Street!!!

Lorrie G.

Yelp
Had the most amazing meal tonight!! Chef Tim waited on us and was such a nice guy!! Best food and best service in Park City!!!

Jon Y.

Yelp
I can't remember exactly how long ago we tried Shabu for the first time but we went again on 2/28/23 after a friend recommended the place. We started with an arugula and poached peach salad. The dressing seem to have a anise flavor possibly from 5 spice but overall was good. The wife was excited since she is gluten free and they had a version of miso cod that was gluten free. I had a bite and they did a remarkable job of making a gluten free version that was similar. I had the tonkatsu ramen with egg, Kim chee and pork belly (one has a choice for the protein) and it hit the spot on a cold winter's night. There's also a good selection of sushi and mixed drinks.

Jann M.

Yelp
It was my first time eating here. It's a busy place underground from Main Street. Booths line the wall but the rest of the tables are in the middle of the room and you share tables with strangers. That might be ok but the night we went the strangers were not nice. I had the Firecracker Shrimp. We learned later it's Family Style so I just got Shrimp. I was frustrated however because the rest of the dishes didn't seem like you could share them. My husband had Ramen but again hard to share. The service was ok but understaffed like most places.. There are so many great restaurants in Park City I think next time I'll try somewhere new

Grace L.

Yelp
So fun and the food was surprisingly good! It's fusion so kind of eclectic. Not actually a shabu shabu place but they have one "shabu" option which is a bunch of stuff cooked in a clay pot (comes out already cooked). We ordered that and it was soooo good! The day we were there it was scallops and shrimp with veggies and udon noodles yum! The sashimi was fresh (we asked the sushi chef which were the freshest of the day). Don't order nigiri though the rice is not good (dry). The atmosphere was fun and drinks were good! We sat at the sushi bar, the sushi chefs were so friendly and love their jobs. It is downstairs a little hard to find.

Joel M.

Yelp
Sat at the bar yesterday and had an amazing dinner experience! Ian and Tim killed it with the sushi and service! 10/10 recommend

Ding D.

Yelp
The most delicious vegan sushi roll I have ever eaten. The flavors were incredible. The margaritas were also fantastic. We also really enjoyed our server.

Abby E.

Yelp
Best sushi you will find! I'm from south Louisiana, so I'm a bit picky about my seafood, and I come to Shabu every time I am in PC! The rising sun roll could be my last meal and I would die a happy woman! We also had the aloha and a daily special roll, and they were both excellent! We love the cozy atmosphere of this underground hideaway of a restaurant, and we were able to reserve a same day 6pm reservation at the bar, which never happens. If you want to dine here, book a reservation in advance! Would recommend dining here time and time again!

Anthony H.

Yelp
if there's anything that will turn me away more from a place before even trying is a rude hostess/service. i've seen enough from reading the reviews though to know that there are definitely better sushi/japanese places to try in Park City. Yuka Yama on the other hand was fantastic, i'm very glad i went with this instead. great food great SERVICE. if you're reading this then i'd def recommend this place instead

Tawnee H.

Yelp
This place just wasn't worth it. We had a reservation, but the kitchen was backed up and they couldn't make any modifications. I didn't think much about it at the time because our requests were simple like adding jalapeños to the side, but later this really surprised me. Even though the sushi rolls were ordered in groups (for example, three people at the end wanted to share rolls) they brought out all the rolls mixed together. This wouldn't have been a big deal, but we ordered the rolls in a specific way and the waitress never mentioned that she wouldn't be able to accommodate the request. Then on top of that, nobody could tell us what roll was what. They would say one thing and then when we asked where a certain roll was, they would backtrack and change everything they said. So all in all, we had no idea what we were eating. The sushi was not worth the price. The entrees and appetizers fell short. I'm not sure I would come back even for a second chance.

Ha B.

Yelp
We ordered just about anything that sounded good. Sad to say it's way overpriced and the food don't taste anything more special or fresher than an average Japanese restaurant. If it was priced more properly, we might occasionally return cuz food was okay. But hard to see our return in the future with this price; and the service is also very strange and sassy

Sarah P.

Yelp
The blistered green beans and shishito peppers were very good! We also like the freestyle edamame. Both appetizers were large portions. The vegetarian roll was good. My boyfriend didn't like their spicy tuna roll and thought their spider roll was okay. Service was okay. Tables super close together. We will probably not come back to this restaurant.

Lexie O.

Yelp
I don't even know where to start. Best culinary experience. If you have the chance, sit at the sushi bar. Tim, CJ, and Arvin will take wonderful care of you and direct your entire journey through the menu if you let them. This restaurant and the people there are gems. Amy was incredible and checked on us numerous times as well. As my boyfriend said, this was the best dinner and a show ever. We were thoroughly entertained and our palates could not have been happier. Musts: Shishito peppers, green beans- dear lord. Any crudo Tim dreams up- just go with it! The ceviche is a mix of a ceviche and a poke; so fresh, clean, and delicious. The Kobe and wagyu on the hot rock are hot to be missed. We ordered a second round. The black cod is so tender and that veggie cake underneath held the perfect balance of crisp. Cocktails, sake, and wine were flowing and incredible. If you have one stop, this is the one to make. Hands down. Bravo!
