Yelp
A very unassuming shabu shabu place on the outside, but boy, the food is amazing. Honestly, I didn't think that plain boiling water, sesame sauce, and (soy?) sauce alone would cut it. But what I hadn't factored in was the fact that the meat was fresh and itself already tasty. This is a far cry from shabu places in the US. We ordered a number of different meats:
* Pork: Despite being the cheapest option on the menu, this already surpassed expectations. I did get the middle-sized portion, because I felt the "small" might be too little. Very delicious.
* Beef: Just plain old "beef" on the menu, but it's very high quality. I would recommend the beef just as strongly, and again, I would recommend the middle-sized portion.
* Vegetable and udon combo: This is where my naivety shows -- I actually wasn't sure if these udon were cooked already or not. I stuck them into the boiling water anyways, until they were nice and chewy. They do cook fast though, just like the meat does.
Overall, fantastic staff, amazing food, and quick service. They were very communicative about the 3pm "LO" (last order) deadline, and we had no problems -- despite not speaking even a smidgen of Japanese. Just like with many other restaurants, grab the bill and pay at the front (the first floor entrance).
The table is a little small, so we had to eat decently quickly to make room for more plates. I didn't mind though. Will definitely make it a point to come back!
*In case you're following my reviews and wondering why I say "I'll come back" for *every review, is because nowadays, I leave reviews as a bookmark for myself. There are certainly other restaurants I've tried that I didn't have time to review. So, in turn, if it's bookmark-worthy for me, I'm hoping it is for you too!
