Yelp
BEWARE OF TICKS trails were absolutely gorgeous and ocean view were so nice but we came out of the park and our shoes and socks were absolutely COVERED by what i believe were baby ticks. so many, too many to count, tiny and a few i noticed in my legs. please take precautions and check yourself when you leave and be careful with dogs! we came around mid august so maybe it was tick hatching season or something, i am not a tick expert. otherwise beautiful trail, we took the roosevelt run trail

Yelp
Stopped in for a spontaeous visit to Shadmoor State Park, and lucked in to some gorgeous weather! The park has a number of well-defined paths that snake over its bluffs and through several thickets.   We enjoyed a lovely stroll and were rewarded with several spectactular views of both the beach and the ocean.   Tip: While this is a beautiful venue, at times its simply overrun with ticks, so consider yourself warned and take the time to check yourself for "passengers" afterwards.

Yelp
As a visitor, we absolutely loved our walk at Shadmoor State Park. You can hug the coastline and enjoy sweeping views of bluffs and beaches. You'll walk up slight inclines and it's pretty rocky so you definitely want to wear tennis shoes. We got turned around and exited at a different place so I guess...pay closer attention to the signs! It's gorgeous. Go wander around. You'll love it.

Yelp
One of my favorite parks to visit out in Montauk, my wife and I make sure we always visit this park when we are out in Montauk twice a year

Yelp
My boyfriend and I have been here twice. It's a beautiful walk, elevated on top of Ditch Plains beach. It's an easy hike, about a mile or two depending on your route. The WWII bunkers are interesting. It feels safe, private and quiet. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Beautiful little trail with some WWII era bunkers. Be careful when taking photos near the cliffs as they are eroding. There's a warning sign too, but not everyone pays attention to those little things. It's a great place for a mid-morning hike before the sun gets too hot. Lots of joggers, so be ready to yield.

Yelp
The geology of this location is spectacular. Located on the Ronkonkoma Moraine, the park has trails that parallel the shoreline. The Atlantic Ocean continually erodes the moraine created an impressive cliff. Your hike provides impressive ocean views

Yelp
Oh, Shadmoor... One of less known parks, and completely unexpected landscape that takes you by surprise. It's an easy getaway trip from the city. Parking is free - but it is tiny parking area, so come early. There are few trails that lead to the water - one along the right edge, that goes straight to the beach - you will see lots of surfers go that way; and two more trails crossing on diagonal to the cliffs. Hoodoos, they called. Strange and beautiful, they stand high over beach, eroded by winds & waters. You catch views of the beaches going to the end of Long Island on the far end of the walk, and looping back you may visit few abandoned military bunkers left in the area, they are pretty cool. Word of warning - watch out for ticks, its pretty bad there, even on path.

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful. We had a spectacular view of the beach, but you can't stay for long. As their are no parking spots. Still a amazing experience!!

Yelp
It's a very beautiful place and the walk to the beach isn't that long BUT the tick problem is bigger than it may seem. Our chihuahua was INFESTED when we left and he only walked on the trail. Won't take the dog next time unfortunately.

Yelp
Nice place, but couldn't take my friends dog which was a drag so because of that we didn't get to see and hike around that much. Great views!

Yelp
Parking is free here, which is a nice treat compared to most of the other beaches and parks in the area. This park has a loop trail from the parking lot down through serviceberry trees to the bluffs, along the bluffs through shrubs and wildflowers, and then back to the parking lot through low forest. The bluffs area is beautiful due to the cliffs and hoodoo formations which are found only in this area. Follow the bluffs trail long enough and you will find a spot where you can access Ditch Plains beach. However, be sure to take the tick advisory seriously. We were very careful to avoid touching the brush on the side of the trail but still found tiny tick nymphs on us at the end of the hike. Tickborne disease is no joke, so take precautions.

Yelp
DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG ON THIS HIKE!!!! It IS easy and a great view, but the tick alert sign doesn't do justice to how many ticks are there. We had 3 dogs and they all stayed on the path, and were STILL covered in ticks when we left. The tick problem in this park is REALLY REALLY bad!!
