Shalimar Restaurant Koh Phangan

We found this gem today and can not recommend it enough. Healthy, clean food, huge portions, very kind service, nicest interior and beautiful garden. They even wash there fruits and vegetables with filtered water. We had the best food and most delicious pineaple juice! We ordered a lot and got everything super fast!

I ordered a ginger ale that immediately tasted and smelled like alcohol. Shortly after drinking it, I felt flushed, lightheaded, and my heart was racing. My friend also tasted the drink and confirmed that it smelled and tasted like alcohol. The restaurant later stated that the drink is homemade and had been kept for about one month, which significantly increases the chance of natural fermentation and alcohol content. This was never disclosed when ordering. I am allergic to alcohol, so this situation was especially concerning. When I asked to speak with a manager, the waitress repeatedly insisted there was “no alcohol” and refused to allow me to speak to anyone else or properly address the concern. If a drink is homemade and potentially fermented, this information must be communicated clearly to customers. Dismissing a legitimate safety concern and denying access to a manager is unacceptable. This experience was handled very poorly.

It's the kind of unforgettable place. The place is exceptional and the history of the restaurant even more so. You feel good directly entering the restaurant. We tasted incredible dishes, the cuisine is refined and excellent. The menu was created by a French naturopath with 15 years of experience and an Indian chef, with 9 years of experience in plant-based cuisines. They only use the highest quality ingredients. The menu is entirely plant-based and free of gluten, soy and starch. They only use cold pressed extra virgin oils in a slow and light cooking process… But the dishes are indulgent, satisfying and delicious! I hope you will have the chance to come and eat in this exceptional restaurant and that you will enjoy Shalimar's garden not in Pakistan but in Koh Phangan 😘🤤

First of all, their food is 100% made by vegetable but made me absolutely nothing to be not satisfied. All dishes were work of art, both in presentation and taste. All detail was perfect 😳 Also the interior of restaurant is a literally elegant and sophisticated design. You'll feel like you're visiting a palace in somewhere 🕌 I had one of the most incredible experience here in Koh Phangan 🥰

There’s a few things I love about this place: First, this place is absolutely gorgeous. Love the architecture and vibe. Lots of attention to detail in the menu, they use high quality ingredients, even using cast iron pans instead of Teflon ones! That’s a *huge* difference between here and other places, I don’t actually know of *any* others on the island doing this. 2) you can taste that every ingredient is meticulously sourced for its quality, resulting in dishes that burst with flavor as a result of their light cooking techniques, enhanced by the use of extra virgin oils. 3) they understand that dietary preferences and restrictions vary widely. Fear not, they cater to a range of needs. Whether you follow a vegan, or raw diet, you'll find options that suit your palate. The food is fantastic. All gluten free too, and the bun on the burger was so delicious! They have flavors that leave a lasting impression, they have created quite an incredible plant-based cuisine! Great service with a smile too! 😊

Just returned and wanted to update my “review”: The flavors pop … the aesthetic is refined … the music inspired … a sensory feast! As a 20-year Sritanu resident, I’m grateful we finally boast such a sublime gastronomical experience in the “village”. If you haven’t yet ventured to Shalimar, do yourself a favor and dive into a delectable realm that transports you to another world. BTW, the mango, avocado 🥭 🥑 tartare is off-the-charts! (And from last time 😅): Shalimar is a gem. First, the resort that it is a part of is stunning. Second, the food is amazing. The banana leaf salad was epically delicious, so fragrant with kefir lime leaf and lemon grass. I also loved the chocolate orangettes. My friend and I came for lunch and stayed for 5 hours, it was that welcoming. Transparently, I visited Shalimar when it first opened (maybe 8 months ago?) and was utterly disappointed with the flavorless food. Now that the restaurant is under new management and has a revamped menu, I look forward to returning again and again. Thank you! Most exceptional and elegant culinary experience in Sritanu. 🤍🌿

Beautiful place, amazing design. The service was good, the lady was helpful. I was expecting the food to be so much better and I was very disappointed. 220 B. for a very small wrap of mushroom shawarma that didn't taste like something I would like to come back for. You can look at the reviews I gave, and I love to give good ones. Unfortunately, this one didn't deserve it ..

The good & the bad: The Good: it’s so beautiful here, and peaceful. Come check it out. But come perhaps for a shake, not the food. The bad: Coffee: mediocre minus Indian salad: So bland, dull, and not Indian in any way. Burger: not exciting or tasty.
