The Lin Tianmiao exhibition was amazing! The space itself is very as well with a nice rooftop terrace offering panoramic views of the city.

The Shanghai Art Museum is formerly the China Hall at the World Expo Shanghai 2010. The museum is big and hosts art exhibitions/ event for, with, both local and international artists.

Please check the exhibition beforehand!!!! Do not make the same mistake as i did :) I had seen a few pictures online and wanted to check it out. When I went in, I was surprised that you have to pay admission (it said online that admission is free). 7€ / 8$ later, I found myself in an exhibition that I didn't like and wanted to go up one floor. But to my surprise the upper floors where blocked off. In this huge building there was only one exhibit. So yeah I paid €7/8$ for an exhibition that I didn't like :). Also the admission fee is quit a lot for one exhibit, if you ask me. I would have been fine paying that for the one i saw online but not for this one.

We get there by ride hailing app as it seems the easiest way. On our day of visit on Saturday morning there is few visitor so it's a pleasant experience. The temp exhibition of Chanel is well curated, also enhanced by the space designer Diller Scorfidio. Overall maybe the exhibition spaces are just too big so some space are not filled with exhibition and looked rather odd but overall we spend a good time there

It was free when I went but I must have visited when they were in between exhibits because the only floor that was open was the 5th floor with 1 exhibit. Nothing else was in the lobby or any other floors. It's somewhat close to the Long Museum which costs more but has much better content in my opinion. Maybe check ahead of time to see what exhibits there are so you can make the most of your trip.

A former power plant where you can go inside the chimney via steel link ways. Nicely located next to the Huangpu river broad walk. Inside the main building the exhibition spaces are varied, different enough that you won’t feel bored spending a few hours here. Visited during the 14th Shanghai Biennale. Wonderful curation and exhibitions. Museum comes with a cozy cafe and shop. A must for contemporary art viewing in Shanghai.

It’s the place I have to visit every time when I am in Shanghai. The exhibitions are very interesting in every season. And you could have a lot of the visual artworks at the same time. the museum itself is a very cool building that used to be the power station and it’s the main reason to call power station. The chimney is a huge thermometer. And the exhibitions are available from first floor all the way up to 5th floor. You could keep the whole afternoon for this place. Have fun!
