Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah, Muscat

michaela at chow mee was the best - always accomodating - fit us in last minute when we forgot to make reservations. she was also at the beach hotel and made our stay very comfortable. she was so friendly and had a smiling face even when the restaurant is busy she was able to deal with every situation calmly. all her staff seem to love her- she is true hard working credit to the hotel. special mention to suhail who cleaned our room and stocked everything up with water bottles. the room was spotless everyday - amazing suhail and always greeting us with a smile. dawud in pool was so friednly moving my phone incase it fell in the pool - found shiny sea shellls from the beach to give my kids. always attentive friendly amazing and so was sangeeth the lifeguard. always checking on my kids when swimming and vigilant, smiling and friendly. incredible service also from murthi making us the best dosa ever at breakfast- didnt even have to ask as soon as he sees our faces he knows what to make us everyday - best chef ever.then shintai went out of her way to get us a late checkout - smiling / happy to help- no task too small for her.we made lasting friends at shangri la- bit far from town centre but the ambiance of the incredible beach and the people who work here make it well worth the stay. we will be returning very soon. facilities are amazing -

I genuinely expected a world-class experience from Shangri-La Al Jissah, but the visit to their bar/restaurant (The Circle) was honestly pathetic. This is absolutely not what you expect from a 5-star resort, and definitely not worth the cost they charge. Despite having lots of staff standing around, no one seemed interested in doing their job. We waited an unnecessarily long time just for someone to come and take our order. It almost felt like they were pretending to be busy while guests kept waiting. For a property that charges around 200 OMR per night, you expect at least basic attentiveness and efficiency. Even the interiors were disappointing — nothing special, nothing luxurious. After paying such a premium, you expect some warmth, ambience, and thoughtful design, but the place felt plain and lacking charm. Overall, a deeply underwhelming experience for a resort that claims to be 5-star. Definitely not worth the hype or cost.

I recently stayed at this hotel and had a truly wonderful experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome and well cared for. Everyone we interacted with was incredibly friendly, attentive, and thoughtful What stood out most was how caring they were with my 3-year-old. They always took a moment to talk to her, made sure she was comfortable, and even offered little gestures that made her smile. Their attentiveness made traveling with a young child so much easier and far more enjoyable. The hotel itself was clean, well-maintained, and relaxing, but it was the exceptional staff that really made our stay special. A special mention to Mary Ann and Thaw From Ava and family

Our family had the most amazing stay at Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah! From the moment we arrived until the day we left, everything was just perfect. The staff were incredible — so helpful, friendly, and genuinely caring. Everyone we met had such a positive attitude and paid attention to every little detail, which made us feel so welcome and looked after. A very special thank you to Shintia, who went above and beyond to make our stay truly special — she’s wonderful! And to the Al Tanoor pastry chef for the best Umm Ali in town! We also loved our experience with Khalid, the frankincense sommelier — such a unique and fascinating part of the stay. And a big thank-you to Raj and Rumi for the amazing visit to the Classic Car Museum — it was such a fun and memorable experience. The resort itself is stunning — beautiful surroundings, great facilities, and such a peaceful atmosphere. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Thank you to the whole Shangri-La team for making our family trip so special. We can’t wait to come back!

Absolutely beautiful hotel (Al Bandar site) and very clean. Al Waha is more family friendly whilst al Husn adults only. It smells divine on entry and the lobby is amazing!! Staff are so helpful and make every attempt to please you. Great shuttle service to the souks/malls to avoid paying taxi fees. Hotel quietens down after dinner around 9.30-10pm however, this may have been because their was no piano player in the piano lounge during our stay. Definitely recommend staying here, sooner rather later as its about to be taken over by Hilton unfortunately!

HONESTLY best hotel experience ever with fantastic atmosphere location and staff! The staff here were something elseeee! BIG SHOUT OUT to DEN & MOHAMMAD AL HADI! My experience wouldn’t have been the same without them! I can confidently say he is one of the best concierge staff members I’ve ever encountered. He has been so attentive from the moment we first met him and has helped us throughout our whole with his warm smiles and laughter through our entrances and exits. Den gave us such a smooth wonderful check-in with her friendly professional demeanour and her smiles along the way aswell. There’s no doubt I am coming back here and if you don’t come here you’re missing out on an experience of a lifetime!

We really like the Property. It has a nice pool, the poolbar with Mohasin and the excellent chefs is really good. Also we appreciate the towel/beach service. We think they make a great job and are doing it way better than in other resorts. The rooms are clean and also the room cleaning staff is good. The reception with Shintia and the Omani porters is always a pleasure. We do appreciate their work. It would be possible to maintain a bit more the whole property but I think it is in a good shape. The only downside is the restaurant al tanoor which can’t compete with the rest. Antony and some chefs do a great job but compared to other hotels and also Shangri la‘s the executive chef should do better.

We were a group of five friends with our families and stayed at Al Waha for two nights — and it was an absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish! ❤️ The resort is simply stunning — peaceful surroundings, clean and spacious rooms, and that warm Shangri-La vibe that instantly makes you feel at home. But the breakfast truly deserves a special mention! 🥐☕️ The spread was incredible — such a wide variety of dishes from different cuisines, all freshly prepared, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every morning felt like a celebration! The live counters, freshness of ingredients, and attention to detail made it one of the best breakfast experiences we’ve had in any resort. A big thank you to Dev and his amazing team — Aman, Ali, Rusiru, Marybel, Lakshika, and Thaw — for their outstanding service, warm smiles, and genuine care throughout our stay. Their hospitality really elevated the whole experience and made us feel so well taken care of. 🙌 We’d definitely love to come back soon and relive the same warmth and comfort again.
