I had a lovely 1 night stay at the Shangri La Beijing. Staff / service was definitely a real highlight of this short stay.
At check in I was offered a 350RMB upgrade to a Valley Wing Premier Room. Originally I was booked in the cheapest room with no breakfast. Given the upgraded room was larger, had club lounge access (including dinner), and breakfast, I accepted as I thought this was a good deal.
The room was spacious and well appointed, although it was a shame the bathroom didn't have a bidet. The cleanliness could be improved as there was some questionable residue in the shower drain cover (looked like hair). The room also gets extremely warm (we were warned of this) and I couldn't get the aircon to cool it down, it seems stuck in heat mode.
Dinner at the club lounge and breakfast at the regular restaurant were both great, good spread of food and drinks and good service from hosts. Also really appreciate great service from the bellboys who helped us pickup some packages accidentally shipped to staff lockers.
Overall I would definitely stay here again and I thought the hotel was excellent value.
