Shangri-La Hotel, Chengdu

We had originally booked another hotel, but since it didn’t offer everything we were looking for, we decided to switch to the Shangri-La in Chengdu — and it turned out to be an excellent choice. We were pleasantly surprised from the moment we arrived. The service was outstanding, the welcome incredibly warm, and the staff really made us feel right at home. The breakfast was excellent, the prices very reasonable, and overall our stay went perfectly well. We highly recommend this hotel!

I stayed for 3 nights and had a very pleasant experience. The room was comfortable and offered a beautiful river view. The hotel is a little dated though but the room was always very clean so I would give it a 4 stars but upgraded it to 5 stars as the service throughout my stay was excellent, staff were friendly, attentive, and always ready to help.||I also went for the Halloween-themed dinner buffet, which was a fun experience. The food spread matched the menu, meat selection was good and the restaurant was creatively decorated with Halloween touches. It was wonderful to see children enjoying the activities while a live band played. ||Overall, a delightful stay with great service, cleanliness, and lovely atmosphere.

Great hospitality and homey welcome by the staff. We arrived very early in the morning due to our flight. Since we are on Horizon floor and was unable to check-in to our room then, the staff let us wait in the club lounge while waiting for our rooms to be ready. We have a decent breakfast and managed to check-in around 11:00am in the morning.The location of the hotel is great and surrounded with nice cafes.However, although the property is generally well maintained, the hotel may need some refurbishment.

It’s a well-deserved 5-star hotel. The facilities, the services, and the foods are very good. I’m 100% satisfied. Especially the guests service manager, Mr. Tyler Wang, he’s very professional and have very patient to answer our questions and resolve problems. So does each of the staffs. The Shangri-La Hotel Chengdu is a wonderful hotel that will make you feel right at home. It's a highly recommended hotel.

Amazing view of the city of Chengdu. Great value. Quick to attend to any problems. The Breakfast Buffet is worth checking out. Tyler Wang at the front was incredibly friendly and helpful in recommending places & restaurants and in helping us get a tour guide. A hotel that lives up to its name.

This is a luxury hotel with everything you need. Our riverside view room had a great view indeed.Breakfast had a lot of choice and quality was great except the lack of fish, only chiken. However, it's not as perfect as you'd expect it to be. Check-in was very slow and blunt because of junior staff and only three of them at rush hour. The pool was a bit cold for me and the wi-fi didn't reach some areas of this very large hotel. All in all a solid 5* hotel but nothing special.

They truly understand what guests need, and their attentiveness made me feel very welcome. Travelled in Sichuan in the second half of October, 2025. Picked the Shangri-La hotel to stay in Chengdu as I am a Jade member of Shangri-La Circle. Location of hotel is not close to the subway station. It is a good 15 minutes walk to the nearest subway station. I was allocated to stay on the 16th floor. The room was quiet, clean and comfortable. However, there was strong odor coming out from some of the rooms when the doors were opened even though the floor was a non-smoking floor. Check-in process was troublesome. I had booked the room on a day to day basis for a week. When I checked-in, I was questioned why had I done that. Shangri-La offers to buy dining credit at a bargain price when you book the room. I had only wanted to buy dining credits for couple days and also to make my trip and schedule flexible. It appeared that this type of booking arrangement was not welcomed by the Front Desk. The Front Desk rep had to merge all my bookings. When I checked out, the information on the receipt of my stay was very confusing. Also, one of the nights was not credited for my points reward. I had to write to claim the missing points. Despite the service of the Front Desk was not what I expected, service of the concierge was excellent. My wife was not feeling well. We asked the concierge which hospital would be the best and less crowded. They made a great suggestion and called a taxi for us. In additional, service was great when dined in Shang Palace. The waitresses Anne, Annie and Iris provided great service. Staff service in Cafe Z was also very good. Unfortunately, I did not check out the swimming pool and the gym. Overall, I feel my experience staying in Shangri-La Chengdu was mediocre.
