an excellent hotel in lhasa. i had a horizon club room. very spacious. room had a machine that let off oxygen 24 hours a day as well as an active humidifier. the hotel also has an oxygen room downstairs. staff was excellent. made me feel very welcome. some stand outs. Yang Jie the sales manager totally high praise for him. in the main restaurant for dinner, Abby ran the place like a pro. very responsible and a good sense of humor. for breakfast, as soon as Sparkle would see me he would start to prepare my eggs. finally the bell hop Beryl, super friendly and good at what he does. stayed there 6 days overall. would go back in a minute

It turned out better than expected. Was kinda hesitant from some of the negative review of the facilities but given it is Shangri La, gave it a shot, and it was worth it.||First off, the staff was hospitable and welcoming. Gave us good advice and even ask us to add them on WeChat just in case and for promoter communication. And out of good will, they’d allow us to check in early in the morning which we are very grateful. We were told to wait up at the oxygen room, which was great to rest while waiting for the room availability.||Next, the facilities are not the most up to date but it is good enough. We enjoyed the sun rise view from the room and the club access was something that we appreciate as it provided comfort in terms of food and sanitary facilities (which to us is a BIG DEAL). ||Further, staff were also very accommodating and helped us order stuff via their mobile and even access to the museum for the entry tickets (which required local number).||Last but not least, it was accessible to the museum and also potala palace.||It’s also the reason why upon returning from Shigatse and Mount Everest Base Camp, we came back here to stay. To really relax and unwind before heading back to our home country.

A beautiful, well-located hotel for exploring the Xizang capital. All the staff were really great, especially Elvis and Ray. Fantastic food, great pool, comfortable rooms. Nice view of Potala palace from some of the rooms and the bar. Even had enough coffee machines.

Shangri La Hotel - Lhasa|Not an impressive entrance, looks more like a converted|office building.Had an impressive lobby with plentiful|comfy seats and chairs, were escorted to reception and|given a welcome drink.|Our room was a disappointment as our view was the A/C|units of other buildings not the Palace, also it was very|drab and all the woodwork needed a good clean and|varnish and pokey, not a 5 Star Experience, more 3 Star and the|bathroom didn’t have a bath which we missed.|The Hotel Restaurant for Breakfast was shambles ,we had|4 breakfasts and 2 dinners there as very few options on|offer.|Every morning they ran out of dinner plates at each|station, there were never spoons at the Cereal Station,I|always had to ask for one.|The other confusion was that every table had a container|to hold a small paddle that said Reserved one end and|Vacant the other.|The service staff were very dozy, but pleasant and moved|at a snails pace and after clearing the table would forget to|switch the paddle from reserved to vacant. So you would|observe guests wandering around looking at all these|empty tables that were “reserved”. I worked the confusion|out quickly and only got caught out once.!||The restaurant needs a professional Restaurant Manager|to sort the place out, there were always people wandering|around in jackets and badges, but they did nothing ,so I|never understood their purpose.?|The Concierge Desk were useless, if you wanted a Taxi|they raised their arm and pointed to the street.|It was raining our second day so finding no Umbrellas in|our room we were directed to the Concierge Desk and|asked for 2 Umbrellas, they wanted RMB50 each to|borrow them.I said can’t we just sign for them and if we|don’t return ,just charge the room? No-Way ,so we paid|the RMB100.|On our return we asked for the RMB100 back and they|wanted to send it to our We-Chat Account (which we don’t|have),this went on and on, so I stormed to the Front desk|and we eventually got the RMB100 back….not good for a|so called 5 Star Hotel|The Hotel also didn’t provide a luncheon venue or a lobby|bar. In my opinion it is not really suitable for Westerners|and checking other websites the Intercontinental ,which is|deemed “Superb” and the St Regis would have been|better options and offered more suitable amenities.

A very good hotel. We stayed all together six nights there. Everything is so good. the location, the services, the foods and the rooms & facilities (big lobby, oxygen room, medical clinic). We needed and used all these extra facilities this time. I will choose this hotel again if we go back to Lhasa. If you are over 50 and want to go for a big trip in Tibet, I highly recommend staying in this hotel. After a long hard day outside, you need the comfort here. (by the way, we are able to speak both Chinese and English, so we did not have any problems in communications.)

The hotel is very conveniently situated and it is within walking distance of the Summer Palace (Norbulingka).|The hotel staff at reception was very accommodating and helpful with information.||The best thing about this hotel, other than the usual high quality fittings and furnishings of Shangrila hotels, is the Oxygen room and the inhouse doctor they have.|Due to the high altitude of certain places our tour brought us during the day (many above 4000m) I would often return to the hotel with a headache, tingling fingers etc. I found the oxygen room a wonderful respite. A panadol and a 30mins rest on the comfy sofas in the oxygen room later, I would feel recovered and ready for dinner. There was also a machine in our room which we could turn on to supply oxygen. A tip is to ask for the bottled water refills once the water in the machine runs low. The medical centre also rents out oxygen tanks. Hence, guests can treat themselves to hyperbaric oxygen in their room. I was so thankful we stayed in this hotel.||The dinner buffet had an excellent spread, however I felt that some of the restaurant staff were very slow in clearing the dishes and setting the table. This is unusual for Shangrila hotels we visited in other parts of the world. For the few nights we stayed, every morning I would see hotel guests helping themselves to cutlery sets from other tables in order to get on with their meal. They would also stack their empty plates or move it to other tables. There are one or two senior staff who would go around overseeing and doing the lion’s share of the work but other would just stand side and chitchat.||Other than that, the stay was wonderful and Shangrila remains a trusted brand we would visit round the world.

This is a very good hotel. We stayed all together 6 nights there. Everything is so good, the location, the services, the rooms and the food. They have an oxygen bar open 24 hours free of charge. You definitely need that esp the first couple of days when you just arrived in Lhasa. There is a medical clinic there too which is so convenient. Ms Chen in the front counter is so helpful and efficient at her work. If you are over 50 and want to go to Tibet, I highly recommend you stay in this hotel.

This is a really nice hotel. The bedrooms in particular are really well designed, large and comfortable. They have some nice touches with small gifts and afternoon snacks placed in the room.||They have some large reception areas typical of the Shangri La concept of design which work well.||The staff are very engaging and helpful.||If I had to be constructively critical, they need to train their staff in the restaurant to be more proactive in clearing tables, especially at breakfast where dishes are left on the table for an unacceptably long time and then they wheel around a dai pai dong style trolley to collect the dishes. This is very out of keeping with other Shangri La hotels in Asia. ||It's about a 20 minute walk from the hotel to the Potala Palace.
