Shangri-La Le Touessrok, Mauritius

My stay at Shangri-La Mauritius has been an absolutely wonderful experience. Leaving was much harder than I expected—I really needed this getaway! Truly, Shangri-La lives up to its name for me. From the very start, even the taxi ride to the hotel was pleasant, with our driver sharing brief but interesting insights about the country, which made the journey even more enjoyable. It’s impossible to name everyone individually, but I would especially like to thank Jessica, who kindly took care of our room needs and always went out of her way to fulfill our wishes. Also, Jean-Marc at reception, whose smile brightened our days, and Laurent, who helped me improve my exercises at the gym. A special shout-out to the amazing team organizing snorkeling and other water activities—they are so friendly, patient, and always ready to explain everything thoroughly. Many thanks also to the maintenance team, who quickly resolved a shower issue and helped us find the best solution. I also want to warmly thank the staff at the souvenir shop on the beach, who showed incredible patience while I tried on all the bracelets—it truly made the experience even more enjoyable. I felt so well cared for at the Chi Spa and, of course, thanks to all the staff at the buffets, the chefs, and the waiters—your work is truly appreciated for me!! I wish all of you continued prosperity, happiness, and good health. I hope to return soon!

The hotel is nothing short of amazing. - food is incredible. All restaurants are great, even the buffet which has themed nights (Arabic, Italian, Pan Asian, etc) with the highness quality food. - the service is brilliant, nothing is too much trouble, they are super accommodating - we travelled as a family and they were super child friendly. Equally, when we left our daughter in the kids club, the adults pool was quiet and lovely. - the kids club does great activities - fishing, crab hunt, henna tattoos, you name it. It is the first time ever my daughter wants to stay and keeps asking to return - the beach is wonderful, they have a very big stretch of sand and lots of water sports are available (complimentary) which was great fun in the lagoon - the private island is only 5 minutes away and it is such a quiet, wonderful place. Highly recommend it and we will definitely be back!

The most thorough and honest review of our stay at Shangri-La, based on our visit in July: Our stay at this resort was, in many ways, exceptional. The entire experience felt curated with intention and sincerity. From the moment we arrived, Sada, our curator, set the tone - elevating our stay with upgraded rooms for our special occasion and ensuring every detail felt personal and thoughtful. There are several team members whose service deserves special recognition: Coco’s (Breakfast): A heartfelt thank-you to Dinesh, who consistently carried himself with warmth and professionalism. His hospitality left a genuine impression. TSK Breakfast: Niccolle deserves praise for always making sure we had a comfortable place to sit and that everything was just right. Her proactive care did not go unnoticed. Room Services: Sanjish, Jessi, Kareem, and Frederick were impeccable - keeping our minibar refreshed, our morning and evening room preparations flawless, and ensuring comfort at every touchpoint. And again, gratitude to Sada for orchestrating the entire experience seamlessly. Two incidents that stood out and merit honest feedback: While the overall stay was memorable, two moments fell noticeably short of Shangri-La’s otherwise excellent standards. 1. Coco (Dinner Service): An incident with a staff member, Khushi, was particularly disappointing. Prior to dinner, I had confirmed that my attire-specifically my Hermès sandals-was acceptable. Upon arrival, however, Khushi insisted they were not appropriate. I clarified that I had already received approval, yet the matter continued unnecessarily. What made this especially concerning was noticing another guest at a nearby table wearing simple flip-flops without issue. When this discrepancy was raised, the interaction became uncomfortable and, frankly, carried an undertone that felt discriminatory. This is entirely out of character for the Shangri-La brand and should be addressed so future guests never feel singled out or treated inconsistently. 2. Checkout Experience: At checkout, I informed the staff Harsh I believe that I am a Shangri-La Circle Member and should receive points for eligible spend—particularly for spa treatments, massages, and resort activities, which had been coordinated in advance with the management. Despite this, the response was dismissive and unaccommodating, leaving a sour final note on an otherwise beautiful stay. Final Thoughts I was not initially inclined to write a public review. However, it would be unfair to the many exceptional staff—especially Sada-who created a remarkable and memorable experience for us. Their efforts deserve recognition. At the same time, it is important the resort be aware of the two incidents that fell short, so that they can uphold the high standards the Shangri-La name is known for. Overall, this resort has incredible potential and truly outstanding people. With more consistency in guest treatment and communication, it can deliver a flawless experience every time. Definately recommended it to my network. I know that I'll be back once again sometime in the future.

We kicked off our honeymoon here. And what a great choice that was. Mauritius is a piece of paradise, and this hotel is is simply stunning. Very well kept, very tasteful and warm ambience. Just a gorgeous property. Outstanding is the staff. From the bellman (Romeo) to housekeeping to the hosts, there is always a welcoming smile to greet you and fulfil all your wishes. Special mention to Safran, the Indian restaurant, that truly stands out in terms of quality and service. The manager is a sweetheart and welcomed us like old friends. The remaining restaurants are good, but do have room for improvement overall. Another recommendation for improvement is their smoking policy: all restaurants and the bar are open spaces. But completely non smoking. You will have the same tables in Coco’s beach hose on a little Terrasse, outside of any roof, but still non-Smoking. That’s more restrictive than European regulations and makes little sense. Definitely recommend staying there. You won’t regret. This is one of the absolute top-spots on the island!

Been on our bucket list for many years and finally got here for 4 nights.Upgraded to a frangipan suite and it was perfectly located in the resort. Also able to take breakfast in the smaller resturant, which was very relaxing away from the buffe .||The room was kept very clean and tidy by Kiran. Service everywhere was discreet and too many good service minded people to name.||Think they may need to upgrade the food though, we had half board which was fine but the buffé although huge wasnt up to par, although the other A la carte resturant s were fantastic. Drinks very expensive, cheapest wine around 90 eur , We stayed at another 5 star Hotel in Grand bay and the wine was around 50eur.||Take note , that although the many resort beaches are Beautiful you would be advised to bring beach swimming shoes as the coral is very sharp and they dont sell any in the resort and nearest shops not within walking distance.

Excellent stay in this hotel. The beach and the facilities are stunning. The service is fast and very helpful. If you come with a baby the level of detail they bring to make you feel at ease is unmatched(unlike the more expensive competitor). Kudos to Parwez for being kind to us. Also Gregoire the F&B director for his exceptional customer care. The only small detail I’d comment on is the food in room service isn’t as great as the restaurants.

What a disappointment. This hotel chain is known to be one of the best…Instead it’s more like a slightly fancier Club Med (using the word fancy due to the price). Service is fine even though I can imagine guests who don’t speak French will have to make an extra effort at explaining. Though they do try making everything as good as they possible. The food at this hotel absolutely sucks. Little diversity and the quality is lack luster at best. I’ve literally had better food on class school trips in my youth… At all the food venues, the food is bland. It’s as if they are afraid of using any seasonings… The beach is stoney and the staff don’t really clean it up well. Moreover it’s hard to relax cause they are always trying to fix things and make a ton of noise. The Spa and gym is fine. The pools are nothing special. The rooms are run down and need a serious renovation. Moreover they don’t really take any considerations for the guests. They start with loud lawn cutters at 8 in the morning outside ones room. All in all I’m sure you can find a better hotel in Mauritius at this price point. I’m currently still here and can’t wait to leave. The superstar from the hotel is Anil from the pool area. That man was one of the redeeming qualities of hotel. My best advice would be to get some new local management that know how to run a hotel and understand the concept of hospitality, get some news cooks at all dining venues and renovate the hotel.

This resort truly has my heart — from the warm people to the beautiful rooms, pools, bars, beaches and the private island. Also, the Frangipani area for adults only was totally worth it. I’d come back in a heartbeat and recommend it to anyone looking for a little paradise. The only downside for me was dinner at Kushi. The food was good, but the service and flavors didn’t quite match the price, and finding a table at 9 p.m. was a challenge. Personally, I found the dishes at Saffron and Coco far more impressive. That said, Shangri-La remains an amazing experience.
