Shantihome Hostel İzmir

This hostel shocked me with how badly they handle guest safety. A young woman staying here cut her trip short and checked out early because a man was bothering her and making her feel unsafe. She reported him to the staff, but instead of taking action immediately, they allowed him to stay as if nothing happened. Meanwhile, I spoke calmly to this man to understand what had happened, since I knew the girl personally and was concerned. I didn’t fight, I didn’t cause a scene — I simply asked questions. The manager then found out and, unbelievably, kicked me out of the hostel and banned me from returning. They punished the wrong person while protecting the one who made a guest leave in fear. This is not just unfair — it’s dangerous. A hostel that ignores harassment and then silences the people who care about safety is not a place where travelers can feel protected. If you value your safety and respect as a guest, avoid this hostel.

Impossible to sleep if you have a tour or plans early morning. Ideal place if you go to sleep after 3 am. Music was so loud we couldn’t sleep. The room was vibrating with the bass of the bars/discoteque next door. And unfortunately my first night was a Friday night. Old building. We got a private room for 2. Very small room, nothing special to mention. I cancelled the 2nd night. Staff was nice, place is “too well” located, to the point I couldn’t rest.

I just check out this hostel . I must say the owner is very friendly, easy to negotiate. I enjoy my stay one night here . Very good location, today morning I can see the hostel near by cafe selling bread , a lot of people having b/f there, because the bread is hot and fresh . Because of the owner so flexible, it make every one write good review. That why AI introduce me this hostel. When check in , he explain to me where it my bed ? He also provide me towel. He also cook b/f for guest to eat and up to you pay the amount. Overall nice owner.

There are a lot of nice things about this hostel. However they do allow non travellers to stay there. In my experience working at hostels this is not typical practice. Although it is usually fine sometimes it may jeopardise the safety of female guests. Its great that you host everyone but if you continue to do so I would suggest providing female only dorms and separate locks for the rooms. They offered to kick the guy out when I complained but I didn’t want him to be on the streets.

This is my second home in Izmir, a place where I know I am safe, its clean, people are very friendly, downstairs in communal area you know you can just chill there and meet new people from all around the world. They are environment friendly everyone is respectful, its a cozy nice lil cute gem in the heart of Alsancak, very good location on top

Everything is perfect 👌. Just no other place can be this wonderful. The staff is amazingly helpful and very supportive. The lady on the front desk (Zeynep) is extraordinarily brilliant 👏. I have seen many hostels, but none has ever been this perfect. And the breakfast she prepares is free, frei, bilash. Believe me I have no suitable words for this place.

The location is perfect, staff are kind and helpful, good breakfast served (although late). It just needs a renovation to look like the photos, the door to the ground floor dorm and the wooden steps to the bed were noisy.

The hostel is located in a very good area which is Alsancak area. However, the hostel has very creepy vibes. First of all you cannot cook until 2PM which is very odd and strange. The owner in general seemed very strict and just dont care in general. This hostel is basically an house in one of the streets of Alsancak. You cannot cook meat so only vegetarian. The rooms are very dark and dirty. All the furnitures were so old and in general the atmosphere was very strange. Upon the guy told i could cook only after 2pm I was so happy to leave and never return. I would never reccomend this place if you are looking for good vibes, clean and friendly atmosphere. Only Alsancak area is amazing but this place never.
