I joined the 14-day Tasmania loop with Share Bus and unfortunately had to leave after only two days due to multiple equipment issues.
The concept of the trip and the itinerary looked great. However, during our trip - in cold and wet conditions (0–5°C with rain) - several essential pieces of equipment were not in proper working order. From the outset, there were dashboard warning lights illuminated, leaking tents, a faulty water tank, half of the gas burners not functioning due to a missing screw, and issues with the locks that provide access to the trailer, among other problems. In addition, the instructor was unable to clearly explain how to properly use some of the equipment.
I was particularly disappointed with how the situation was handled afterwards. Communication was slow, responses required repeated follow-ups, and the matter stretched out over two months.
The idea behind the trip is great, but equipment reliability and responsive customer service are critical - especially in Tasmania’s colder conditions. I would strongly advise potential travelers to carefully consider these factors before booking.
