10 Best Adventure Vacations Around the World

"Companies like Calypso Star Charters keep you safe inside a steel cage or what's known as an 'aqua sub' (essentially a reverse aquarium, where the fish are outside the glass)." - Travel + Leisure Editors

This company was very honest and straightforward about the present situation with great whites at the Neptune Islands. The owner Andrew was incredibly nice and even made a detour on the way back so I could see the slip of where the Rodney Fox boat was being worked on. They have a great policy with refunds and even though I didn’t get to see a great White, I still enjoyed the seafood boat tour.

Had an awesome time, the crew were very professional and helpful. Good food spread so you never went hungry. Didn't see any sharks, but you do recieve a voucher if you dont see any.

It was such a great day out! We had an awesome time with Calypso Swimming with Sealions. The crew were super friendly and made sure we were looked after from start to finish. The trip out was really pleasant, the food was tasty, and the whole vibe was relaxed and fun. The sea lions were so playful – it was amazing to be in the water with them. You can tell the staff really care and go out of their way to make the experience special. Highly recommended!!

Everything was beautiful — my partner and I were lucky enough to see two white sharks, a dream come true. Thank you for offering this experience — the staff really brought the good vibes. That said, I do have one major concern, for the sake of the sharks. We witnessed one of them slam full force into the cage, break its nose tube, and swim away — it never came back. We caught it on the GoPro, and honestly, it was horrible to watch, both live and on the video. I strongly recommend placing the bait farther from the cage, not directly on it. The shark didn’t deserve to suffer like that just so humans can have a thrill. Please, do it right — all the way. One other thing: one of the girls on the crew didn’t stop yelling all day, talking loudly about personal things — we basically learned her life story. It gets annoying when you're trying to enjoy a unique experience and someone’s shouting next to you the whole time. She still did her job well, just maybe ask her to keep it down. Thanks again and best regards

Great team, organization, instructions, and good food on board. The crew was very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, we didn’t see any sharks. On the website it only says that shark sightings are out of their control because it is a wild animal, but this information is obvious. They could be more transparent and include on the website information about the frequency of the latest sightings, since it seems to be getting increasingly difficult ( leave the dates of the last 10 sightings and how many sharks were seen, for example). From what I understood, in the last three months there were only two sightings. This way, the public’s expectations are set in advance, making it 100% clear how rare it is, and helping to avoid further frustrations.

Had the absolute best day yesterday for the swimming seal charter (26/9/25). We originally booked 2 adults and two children as our son has a disability which makes wearing shoes/clothes very uncomfortable for him. We originally had organised someone to stay with him on shore while we took our two youngest, but that person couldn't come after all. When we called, we were totally prepared to hear the "no, sorry he has to wear shoes" like we have in other charters, but we were cheerfully told it was no problem at all and they try to accommodate everyone. My husband and I were literally bawling our eyes out that we could not only take our son to experience this, but also be there for our other children, too. Boy did they ever accommodate! Super welcoming and friendly, and explained everything simply even though they probably have to do it umpeteen times a day! The weather was a bit un-cooperative and we saw a few seals but the experience and boat ride was well worth the price. My youngest son did not want to get in the water so they were super kind and kept him rugged up in the tender for a bit so we could swim with our daughter. I will simply never forget seeing this cheeky seal leap through the water as everyone had their backs turned looking for him/her. So cheeky! My daughter had been looking forward to this trip for months and named the seal on the brochure "smiley" so she has a stuffed sealion from the gift shop called "smilely" and it's made her whole trip. The crew were all absolutely amazing and accommodating. We can't wait to return! My husband wants to do the shark diving next time but I might sit that one out. Thank you for an absolutey amazing and memorable day. You have no idea how much your kindness and hospitality meant to us! P.S we also owe you $4 which we forgot to mention at the gift shop afterwards. My husband Cameron sat bolt upright at midnight when he remembered we forgot to pay for the two drinks! The food and snacks on board were also amazing and plentiful. ♡

Bucket list stuff right here!! Can’t thank the crew at Calypso star enough. My wife and I booked the shark dive and sea lion swim and 3 weeks later I am still lost for words!! After a 1.5 hour drive (remember to take a box of qwells with you) we arrived at the cove where the sea lions live. So much fun swimming around with these little guys for about an hour (Was too excited and forgot my GoPro on the boat) Jumped back onto the boat for another 1.5 hour drive to the shark dive location. Lunch was served while this was happening (thanks Ollie for the beautiful lunch) Pulled up at the shark dive spot and anchored. After an informative run down of how the next few hours would be spent the cage was lowered into the ocean and it was shark time!! After 30 minutes we were greeted by 3 different great whites. An incredible experience that I will never forget. Dinner was served once all groups had jumped in and it was time for another dive if you wanted too. The ride home was beautiful watching the sunset over the ocean, a few dolphins joined us throughout the trip back and of course we were able to sit back and watch our GoPro videos with an ice cold beer! (Only allowed to drink alcohol if you are NOT DIVING! The crew are VERY serious about this and rightfully so) Thanks again to Calypso star but mainly to our crew, Andy, Dave, River and Ollie, you four made the day/experience one to remember! This is an absolute must if you visit Pt.Lincoln

Absolutely love these guys! We did two trips over two days and swam with both Great White Sharks and Sealions. Very professional outfit and the staff were all lovely and very attentive. Special shout out to Caitlin who we had on both trips, she was a legend!

Yelp
Amazing experience! This is a must do adventure. The boat ride out to the Neptune islands was a bit long, but the entire experience was fabulous. The staff were all amazing, friendly and knowledgeable. In particular the captain, Dave, was incredibly patient and supportive helping my wife and daughter get comfortable and in the cage. Cannot recommend this highly enough! Also, get the photo package - no question about it.

Yelp
My husband and I went on their great white charter while in Australia. Unfortunately we did not see any sharks but they whole experience was amazing. The crew, food, and service were great and we even managed to catch a fresh tuna. That has been the freshest sashimi I've had to date. We chose them because they were very transparent with their sighting record and had a solid no shark policy compared to other companies. The group size was perfect, giving everyone ample time inside the cage. Their suits and equipment were comfortable and in good condition. Even though we didn't see any we enjoyed our charter and highly recommend them.

Yelp
Amazing experience. Yes it is pricey when you first look at it however you are on the boat the whole day (7am-6:30pm) considering the quality and range of food that is included and drinks it is well worth the price. We saw 10 sharks when we were out. Staff were very helpful. Great memories of here and would recommend for everyone to do it at least once
