Discover the Shaumari Wildlife Reserve, a modern visitor center where you can embark on engaging safaris, learn from passionate guides, and explore local flora and fauna in a welcoming atmosphere.
"An easy day trip from Amman, Shaumari Wildlife Reserve sits at the gateway to Jordan’s eastern deserts, where a pioneering conservation project is under way. The Arabian oryx, with its extraordinary, unicorn-like horns, was hunted to near extinction in the 20th century, but a captive breeding program overseen by the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature is attempting to bring them back, reintroducing the dazzling white antelopes on Shaumari’s grounds. Visitors to the park can see several oryx, as well as other desert animals like ostriches, gazelles, and wild donkeys, during safari rides through the park. Tours take place in actual safari vehicles and are led by expert guides, who provide commentary on the park, its animals, and its ongoing conservation work."
Nice experience with a nice little off road ride, biking also available. Multiple types of deer and plants, the guide Mr. Bino is very knowledgeable about the nature of the earth and the uses/benefits of all the plants there. Pretty interesting stuff

It’s a wonderful place to visit! We had the short safari and enjoyed it so much. The guide was incredible. I had so much fun learning new things and he had the answers to all my questions. I loved every detail of this trip. The center is clean and amazing with all utilities and they are super kind. So recommended!

It's a nice, modern visitor's centre. Unfortunately I didn't get to join safari this time as minimum 4 people are required so I just did a tour in visitor's centre. Not many animals are available to see, I wish they would bring more.

We did the long safari on our last day in Jordan and it was absolutely fantastic. We were lucky enough to see onagers, sand gazelles and oryx. We also learned about the plants in the reserve. Our guide, the wildlife reserve's veterinarian, shared his great knowledge and passion with us.

The Shaumari Wildlife Reserve Visitor Center does a very good job introducing the geology, flora and fauna of the region of Jordan's Eastern Badia to the visitor. Information signs complete with diagrams and maps allow one to learn loads in a very friendly way. Signs are in English and Arabic.
For those with an eye for history and archaeology, there are two cases that contain carved basalt blocks one with a floral representation of a palm tree and a the other with the mythological creature of Pegasus. They come from the Umayyad Period reservoir located in the other RSCN Reserve of Azraq. Most other carved slabs are exhibited in one of the rooms of the Azraq Castle.
