"Speaking of movies, Jewel is also home to Shaw Theatres Jewel, Singapore’s first cinema with a dedicated children’s theater and a round-the-clock screening schedule."

As someone who lives in the San Francisco Bay Area that's home to the second largest IMAX screen in the USA I wanted to see what it was like in other venues in South East Asia. I watched the release of the 2025 Superman here and although the screen was not as big as in the States, I have to say it was still rather large and overall entertaining. I was impressed by both picture and sound and the seating was plush and overall comfy. It might not be the complete immersive experience offered in the Bay Area, but it still gets the job done.

they had student price movie tickets at 7 sgd. i went on a weekday, $11.50 for an adult ticket in a cinema which i feel is a little expensive. food is also expensive, small packet of kettle sea salt potato chips already $2.80. they have salty and sweet popcorn respectively, costs like pretty expensive too. wish they had more variety of popcorn and shaw theatres class. good thing is that they have IMax which is a really big movie screen, more comfortable for people to watch. wouldn't purposely come back here to watch movies, Gold Class is better.

Review for Dreamers Theatre at Shaw Theatres Jewel While Dreamers is marketed as a kid-friendly cinema — complete with a small play area in front of the theatre — I believe there's an important balance to be struck between accommodating young audiences and maintaining a respectful shared viewing experience. During my visit, the noise level was excessive at times, not due to the usual chatter or excitement from young children, but because some parents seemed to treat the cinema as a break from parenting altogether. Several kids were allowed to run amok without any supervision, causing disruptions throughout the film. Disappointingly, the parents in question remained glued to their seats and disengaged, seemingly oblivious to the impact on other patrons. I had booked the Dreamers theatre not because my kid needed the features, but simply because it was the most cost-effective option at that time slot of 2pm on a Saturday — the only alternative somehow being the Premier theatre at $30 a seat. While I understand that Dreamers caters to families with young children, this shouldn’t come at the expense of basic courtesy. The cinema staff could be more proactive in managing disruptions and reminding parents to supervise their children. I found myself having to shush noisy kids from my seat just to enjoy the film. Dreamers has potential, but without clearer expectations for behaviour or more active staff involvement, the experience can be frustrating for those hoping for even a moderately peaceful movie outing.

A few issues with this iMax: 1. Screen starts at the base of the first row. So first 3 rows should be avoided if you do not want neck ache. 2. 2 grey squares are on the screen and are visible when a bright scene is played 3. Image is a bit blurry at times. So ok if you are not a picky viewer :)

Cool thing to have a cinema in the airport. The aircon in the theatre hall is so cold. The movie bites popcorn could be improved. The staff handling food and beverage that day was super nice and friendly.

Saw Alien: Romulus. Fantastic Dolby 7.0 sound. The only this is the freezer temps (bring a jumper or even little blanket!) But Shaw Theatres are a great cinema complex, and right at The Jewel.

1 stars for Dreamers; 4 for overall. Useful location, decent screens but Jewel Dreamers needs rethinking. Having a cinema in Jewel Changi is a win, convenient, clean, and a decent range of halls. Concessions are decent, and the overall experience is fine for most moviegoers. But the Dreamers hall concept, while well-intentioned, really misses the mark. What should be a child-friendly, comfortable environment ends up feeling more like a noisy crèche than a cinema. Why would you have toys at a cinema?! It’s part the concept but part inconsiderate parents who bring their children to the cinema to run amok. What are you encouraging - adhd? Disrespect? Family movie time at exorbitant prices? Both parties need to figure it out so it does not ruin the experience for families who want to enjoy the movie and teach their kids focus and consideration. Brought our daughter to watch a movie and we all found hard to tell whether Dreamers Hall was meant for watching a movie or surviving one. Great for restless toddlers, maybe. But for anyone else? Bring earplugs, read subtitles… or pick another screen.
