Shawarma King

Was super excited to try this place after going to Glasgow for the first time in August 2025 and finding out this is the crowned the best Shawarma in Glasgow. Truthfully, I don't get the hype. The food was very salty and nothing wow. Was expecting it to be way better for the title it has. Went on a weekday evening - there were a quite few customers about so did have a bit of a wait and with it being a small shop - be prepared for the queue to be outside. The older guy at the till was super helpful and explained all in Arabic. But I had better Shawarma at Lazord Syrian Restaurant during my stay in Glasgow.

Stopped in for a chicken and a lamb shawarma wrap. £7 for a large. We had to wait a while as there was a massive queue of people before us. The food was hot, fresh and tasty . The bread was amazing. Would go back, there wasn't enough chicken in it for me but it was tasty none the less.

I have nothing to compare this to other than I know good food when I taste it. I’m not a shawarma aficionado and I don’t have extensive experience eating it. What I do know is this shawarma has set the bar really high for me. I was expecting long lines but fortunately we were able to walk right in and order. I ordered the mix of meats. The meat is so flavorful and juicy and the bread is soft and so fresh. The bit of pickled veg is just the perfect contrast to the meat mix and then the sauce just ties the perfect bite all together. I knew it was legit when a black Lexus pulled up to the curb and four men with sunglasses, who look like they know shawarma, get out to order their food. No talking. Just waiting. They get the bag and drive off.

Shawarma King – Scotland’s Undisputed Shawarma Champion? Crowned Scotland’s Best Shawarma four years in a row since 2022 – that alone was enough to pique our curiosity. What really drew us in, though, was the long queue in front of the small shopfront. We tried both the large lamb and chicken shawarma. The meat was tender and well-seasoned, but what truly stood out was the pickled vegetable garnish – bold, crunchy, and full of flavor. For our taste, it was slightly too salty, but others might enjoy the punch. The only downside: there’s hardly any seating nearby, which made it tricky to enjoy the meal comfortably on the spot. Be prepared to eat on the go or find a bench somewhere close. All in all, Shawarma King lives up to its name. If you're willing to wait in line, you'll be rewarded with a flavorful, satisfying meal that just might justify the hype.

Absolutely the best shawarma in Glasgow! The meat is real lamb — tender, juicy, and full of flavor. Everything tastes amazing, and the atmosphere is great too. You can feel the quality and care in every bite. Truly authentic and easily the best place in town!

King Shawarma in Glasgow is one of the best halal shawarma places I have tried. The chicken is soft, juicy, and full of flavour. The wraps are fresh, the sauces taste amazing, and the portions are big. The staff are friendly and always serve with a smile. The place is clean and good for a quick meal. If you love shawarma, you should definitely try King Shawarma in Glasgow.

Favourite Shawarma in Glasgow! The lamb.. oh the lamb! So tasty and juicy! And they do a strawberry soft drink called Mirinda. So happy to always go to shawarma kings.. everything always very fresh!

Was disappointed by it having seen great reviews and vlogs. Staff didn't ask us how we wanted it made. Hot sauce already applied. Lamb meat was chewy. Wrap wasn't toasted much. Underwhelming experience. They just wanted to get us out the door. Probably a slightly above average shawarma but wasn't worth the walk.

Yelp
Freshly made bread (you can see them making it in the back), a nice char on the shawarma, and a garlic sauce to top it off. Perfect takeaway food to eat at the Green nearby.

Yelp
Really really wonderful! I haven't had a good shwarma since visiting Israel in 2014. The baklawa was amazing too! We went back and bought enough for the rest off our trip!

Yelp
Hidden away between the city centre and Glasgow Green is this little gem. News of its great food spread like wildfire through my office so I decided to check it out. I was not disappointed. It's is the tiniest of wee takeaways, which seemed even smaller when there was 10 people crammed inside it and hanging at the door all waiting in their lunchtime shawarma. This place is really popular, and with good reason because the food is cheap (£3.50 for a chicken or lamb shawarma) and it is extremely tasty. Although the meat comes straight from your usual kebab elephant leg it isn't as greasy or stomach churning as your usual kebab leg - ok it's far from healthy, but it is a lot better than other kebab shops offer. The bread is freshly made, and the vegetables in the salad are fresh and crunchy (I advise asking for extra pickles as they are amazing with the chicken). I'm actually salivating at the thought of a shawarma while I'm writing about this place. Friday lunchtimes you always want a wee treat for lunch to kick your weekend off - this is the place to do it. Similar price to a Tesco meal deal and 100 times tastier - go on treat yourself.

Yelp
Now this is a true gem, from the outside this place looks a dive but trust me give this place a go!. Now i'll be honest every time I've been here i've only had a Shawarma, they do either chicken or lamb with a tasty salad for only £3.50. The meat is to die for and is the real star of the show, combined with the salad, a sauce and wrapped up in beard for easy eating. To be fair this is a great easy lunch option for workers, or those who want a no frills type of eating. It doesn't get much cheaper or much better than this. If you do pop in, give the guys a bit of chat, they are always smiling and joking.

Yelp
Chicken Shawarma and Lamb Shawarma, they might do other things but I have never seen a menu, nor do I think I even need to as those two dishes are all I ever want when I visit. Each is available in two sizes, the regular wrap or as a "main meal". I find the wrap size to be more than enough, the main meal is only for the seriously hungry. You receive a large container half-filled with your shredded meat of choice and the other half with salad and sauce. This is served either with rice or a full nan bread and a separate tub of garlic sauce. The salad used in both sizes is delicious, with a generous amount of tomato and gherkins. The sauce is nice, but I would prefer it to be a little bit spicy. The meat is really tasty, although I have found the lamb to be slightly chewy sometimes. And the wrap size is a steal at only £3.50! The actual take-away doesn't look like much from the outside, although it always has a queue which I take to be a good sign. There is seating but it very limited to just a few uncomfortable high stools. This is definitely more of a take-away than somewhere you'll want to sit in. It'll also make perfect post-pub food if you're near-by in any of Merchant City's bars.

Yelp
This is a new restaurant/takeaway at the corner of King Street and Bridgegate. It definitely has more of a takeaway feel. Walked by it a few times .... It doesn't look like much from outside but often has a queue of people which I took as encouraging sign. Finally tried a shawarma takeaway tonight. The meal size version (£7) has crispy shredded chicken from rotisserie served in large tray with tasty seasoning with the other side of tray filled with tomatoes, onions and gherkins. The flatbread is served separately in bag so you do the wrapping at home or just use it for dipping. A side of garlic mayo is also provided with can of soft drink. In hindsight, I would have gone for the smaller shawarma which is ready wrapped served in standard sized flat bread - only £3.50 - most other people were ordering that version. It was really tasty and I would definitely go back.
