I love Shawarma Palace ... my friends love Shawarma Palace ... and it's been the case for more than 20 years. We used to frequent their original location on Rideau Street, then this branch became our favorite ... but wherever you go, Shawarma Palace offers the same fresh food, the same flavors and the same excellent service. One thing they've mastered is the generous portion sizes ... no one else comes close ... one plate is enough for two people.

Always consistent, always delicious! Their shawarma plates are top quality and generously portioned. I really appreciate that they accommodated my dietary restriction — instead of rice, they gave me a full bed of potatoes, which was amazing. It’s rare to find that kind of flexibility and care. No notes — I’ll absolutely keep coming back :)

Google
Incredible food! As someone who lives out of town I always stop by when visiting and sometimes grab a platter to take home before my flights. I’m not the biggest fan of the beef(more of a me thing), but the chicken is really good! I usually go for the all dressed chicken plate and ask to add baba ghanoush, sumac onions, and pomegranate molasses. Really tasty! Wraps and chicken salad are also very good. The place is also very clean and staff are nice.

Google
An Ottawa staple for good reason! The shawarma here doesn't disappoint, it's prepared fresh upon order with a broad assortment of sides and toppings available for both plates and wraps. The mixed shawarma plate is a highlight, and the staff do a great job at handling sometimes very busy lines and large orders. Give them a visit and check it out!

Google
Solid shawarma spot. Service was a little slow but it was busy and the wait was only about 10mins or so. The shawarma sandwich was tasty and fresh but a little on the small side for $10.95 but not a dealbreaker. The food was tasty but the place could be cleaned a little more often and there was very little English being spoken. But if you’re a shawarma fan this is a decent place to go. Would rate it 3.5/5. Good but not exceptional.

Google
First time I see a big shawarma place. Usually these joints are small. This one is much bigger with comfortable seating. Falafel wrap and bowl was good. Drinks ok a bit costly. Lot of crowd in and out, seems a popular place. It is worth trying. Something vegetarian is available. Food is ok. They don't listen properly what customers want. The service was slow and the lady couldn't answer for extra plates.

Ja’far was amazing! Super friendly, fast, and made sure we had everything we needed. He checked in at the right times and made the whole dining experience feel special. Definitely one of the best servers I’ve had—thank you Ja’far!

Yelp
They said that Ottawa was known for their poutine and shawarma, I willingly tried both in one medium bowl. I enjoyed it immensely because the fries were crisp and held their shape, the gravy was smooth and beefy and the cheese wildly stringy. The beef shawarma on the top had all the right textures due to the rotisserie and it was delicious. I loved that they put sliced tomatoes in the beef, adds a sweet note. Then he adds a healthy drizzle of sesame dressing. We also had the chicken shawarma sandwich which seems to be the fave and it was so chock full of veggies and chicken with a tangy garlic aioli. Very good. Place is very clean and big. Order and pick up at the counter.

Yelp
Amazing food, the best comfort food service is fast, and always a good time going with friends after a night out.

Yelp
Serious...meat...overload!!! One thing I read about Ottawa prior to visiting was that Shawarma was extremely popular here due to the large Lebanese population, so it was a MUST for us to try some from one of their most popular chains. The great thing about this location is that it's part of a strip mall so there is plenty of parking in the back. The restaurant itself is also pretty big and there was plenty of seating on the Thursday evening that we dropped by. The menu is straightforward in that they serve shredded chicken, lamb and other variations of shawarma as part of large platters which come with rice, hummus, salad and potatoes. The platters do not come cheap though as they are all on the precipice of $20 each, but you'll know where that money all went once you receive your order. My wife and I ordered separate platters, which was a huge mistake after we saw how humongous the platters were. We ordered a mixed chicken and lamb platter and a chicken platter. And, not knowing what we were getting ourselves into, we decided to order 4 of their giant falafels. Those who have been here probably would be saying "What were you thinking?!?!" That's the exact same question we asked ourselves! First, the platters here are some of the largest I've ever seen in a single serving. It could EASILY be split into 2-3 meals, even for someone like me who has a gargantuan appetite. Second, the good. Loved the rice and potatoes. The golden lemon potatoes were a really nice touch, but, any sensical person would be thinking, 2 carbs in 1 dish? Anyhow, it was still really good. OK everything so good right? Unfortunately, the star of the show didn't live up to the hype. Womp, womp. The chicken and lamb meats were very dry. Yes, there was A LOT of it in both platters and I loveeeeee huge servings, but the meat was so shockingly dry. Thankfully, there was white sauce spread all over the meats, but it was still easy to notice the lack of moisture in the chicken and lamb . The lamb was better than the chicken since the chicken was even drier. And the falafel was just as big of a disappointment in that it was very dry too. In all fairness, I'm from New York and I've had shawarma as far back as I can remember from many, many different vendors (including The Halal Guys) and also had my fair share of falafel as well, but with all of the hype surrounding Shawarma Palace, I expected a lot better! The portions are great and the lemon potatoes were excellent, but the meats need a lot more love here.

Yelp
Locals flock to this place. We thought it was fine but not something we had to do again anytime soon

Yelp
This is the one place I will always go for shawarma. The best in town for a chicken plate. Portions are large and always leave me satisfied :)
google avatar

Joseph S.

Yelp
After many years and several visits, this is still the best shawarma in Ottawa, and probably the entire province. Don't bother with the wraps, this is the place you go to for platters. It doesn't matter if you want chicken, or beef or both, you will be blown away by the platter. Whether you dine-in or take-out, the platter comes absolutely loaded with meat, potatoes, rice, salad, hummus, and garlic sauce. The taste is out of this world, with the garlic sauce being the standout of the platter. The beef is also solid, which tends to be a weakness of many shawarma places. The platter will last you two meals at minimum, and probably three. This place is reason enough to make the drive to Ottawa, wherever you're coming from. If you go during lunchtime, expect a long line, but if you go at non-peak times, you should be good to go. Check out @foodpharaoh on Instagram for more food!

Yelp
The best shawarma in Ottawa good service, very kind servers, and a nice ambiance with good music

Bibi B.

Yelp
Very good Lebanese food. Tastes great. I would eat there again. Only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is the serving was sloppy and piled everything on top of everything. I would have prefer half the serving at half the price (25$ with tabouli). Extra garlic extra.

Deanna C.

Yelp
The food is absolutely amazing!! Every time I come am am never disappointed. The bathroom however are disgusting. The women's washroom has a toilet with no seat and no soap. The music is very loud. If you are looking for a quiet place to chat with friends this is not the place. But if you dont care about the bathroom or noise then I highly recommend.
google avatar

Robert D.

Yelp
It was a bit pricey for the size of the wrap. It tasted good but the employee drenched it in garlic sauce which was overpowering. Didn't seem to care. IIt did the job for a late night spot.

E M.

Yelp
Good schwarma but they could speed up the operational efficiency at the cash. Ol' boss lady loves her cash register but it's a terrible choke point (literally as there's no room to move either) and you stand there for 10-15 waiting for her to sort out the order, punch it in, and stops to handle to Uber eats order cuz they are priority....all the while the food is just slightly out your reach.

Yelp
We have been to the Rideau Street location quite a few times and only our second at this location. The place was deserted as it was near 12pm on a Sunday afternoon. A bit of a line up layer but it moved quickly. Most of tables were clean and that was different from our first visit as many tables hadn't been cleared and cleaned. Ordered two Falafel Sandwiches, a veggie platter, a small potatoes with Garlic Sauce on the side. The falafel sandwiches were good. The falafel itself are huge and so the sauce and pita together made it a little dry. Ask for extra sauce for a better experience in my opinion. The veggie platter is huge and delicious. The broccoli and cauliflower were the best. A salad, vine leaf, falafel, potatoes, hummus and some more condiments come with it. Absolutely amazing. The falafel has a mint taste to it which was a nice touch. The potatoes and garlic sauce served are most amazing I have ever tasted. The sauce a bit too garlicky even for a garlic lover I think. I personally don't take the garlic sauce but have tasted it in the past and it needs a special mention. Now only, if they could make this without Eggs.

Yelp
Classic in Ottawa. HUGE portions, super busy staff, but still friendly! There is usually a huge line up, but it's worth it. If you're looking for a fancy restaurant, this is obviously not the place, but for a late night Shawarma or a quick lunch on the go, this is simply perfect.
google avatar

Rohit G.

Yelp
Yelp rating isn't that great for this place to begin with but decided to try this restaurant anyways for a quick bite last night. The place is a like a Mediterranean McDonald( fast food chain). In my Opinion the food is not that great. I am not sure how much food of a similar kind if priced in Canada but to me it appeared that i could have better options at the same price.
google avatar

Donna S.

Yelp
This is the best food I have had in Ottawa. The food is delicious. The people are super friendly and accommodating. There was enough food on my plate to feed multiple people. The portions are huge! Lots of options to choose from. Kid friendly with chicken strips on the menu. The restaurant is clean and there are plenty of tables.
google avatar

Brad S.

Yelp
Best shawarma in Ottawa. The platter is huge but it should be for $18. Quality is great and always fresh. Last two times I have gone the price has been raised. Also annoying getting charged $.50 cents to use debit but that's life I suppose. Food is excellent I'm back regularly.

T P.

Yelp
Too bad they're riding on reputation - even after making a name for themselves, restaurants shouldn't forget that customer service is still important. Furthermore, they shouldn't disregard a customer who's just buying a sandwich, as that same customer might have spent $40 the week before. Don't waste your 7$ on a falafel here, when you can get the same taste and way better service at a lower cost elsewhere! The boy was so upset he didn't know what a whole wheat pita was that he squished the falafel balls while handing them to his coworker, who didn't warm them up. Then his coworker rushed the order, didn't put any of the sauces requested. After noticing that it was cold, I asked to have it reheated, and they did - but unwrapped on the shared grill, where it dried out, and they burnt it.

Yelp
In the city for one day and decided to come here for lunch before heading back home. Didn't get a chance to try any of the shawarma places last time when I was in Ottawa. Place had good reviews so decided to give it a chance. They had five shawarma spits roasting..guess they must get a ton of business through the day. We got a chicken shawarma platter and a sandwich between two people and immediately started to regret getting the sandwich when we saw the server pile food onto the plate. Rice, potatoes, salad, hummus, garlic sauce, pickles and finally, a MOUND of shawarma. The food is absolutely amazing, it's so fresh and flavour is very very good. The food is not overpowering in garlic or salt. Shawarma was not dry and it was well cooked. Definitely recommend!
google avatar

Kristie W.

Yelp
Must get the shawarma plates! Either beef or chicken will do--you won't be disappointed either way. The portions are massive enough that a plate can serve two average appetites, and is fantastically balanced. The meat is juicy and flavourful. The potatoes are mouth-watering and important. The vegetables freshen up the plate and convince you that you're a healthy person. The rice and pita serve as an excuse for you to consume more of their mind-numbing garlic sauce. Ask for more garlic sauce. You won't regret eating here. They even have booth seats so you can take your sweet time enjoying this beautiful meal.

Yelp
I liked the Tongue Sandwish ... very fast sevice, despit the long line-up.. it moves very quick ... very friendly place

Yelp
I really enjoy coming to this location because the interiors are very modern, and there are many cozy booths to sit in (near the front door, on an elevated part of the seating area). Portion size: seems to be more than the Carling avenue, they had trouble closing the takeout box for my mixed shawarma platter! Make sure to also ask for some spicy garlic, it goes amazing with the potatoes! Although I'm a small person, I eat a lot, but the platter would definitely be enough for 2 meals (or enough to share between two people)! Meat: I tried the mixed shawarma platter as I was curious about their beef. Interestingly, I preferred it more than the chicken and ate it faster! They cut it in thin small strips so it is easy to chew, and surprisingly tender. The sauce on top makes it all the better. Next time I will probably get just beef, I liked it that much! The potatoes are hot and fresh, and savoury. Even the brown rice was spiced very nicely and not too hard (with places that have hard rice, I prefer getting all potatoes instead)! Overall, a great dining experience due to the value and freshness and I will be back for sure!

Yelp
Here at Shawarma Palace, one do get a bang for their money with the quantity of food. So do come with a friend or ask for a takeout container to pack some home. But how was the quality? I found the Chicken Shawarma plate tasted OK and looked quite impressive for photo taking. The Beef Shawarma Wrap was bland and dry and lack of toppings. The interior though really modern and clean. Service is fast and friendly. If they would have work on the taste of the food? A little more punch on the garlic/hot sauce, a little more sourness for the pickled cabbage?
google avatar

Reema D.

Yelp
Love the food and they give soooo much. One plate makes three meals for me! I just wish they would slow down while you're in line and making the plate. I don't find it's helping if they're rushing since they're all over the place anyway. Lost a star for that but the food is definitely worth it.
google avatar

Victor M.

Yelp
At first wasn't sure if this was the place I was looking for, but when finally had a bite of my enormous plate knew that this was it! If you are ever in Ottawa you have to try this place. One plate could feed 4 and is super affordable. Both the chicken and the lamb was great! I kind of wished I had the falafel, but I ate so much that probably could have not even tried it. Will try it next time!

Yelp
Fabulous spot; their claim to being Ottawa's best shawarma would be hard to challenge. The portions are generous - you get what you pay for. There isn't a 'sandwich trio special' like you may find at other shawarma places (ie: sandwich + potatoes + drink for special price) but you can easily assemble your own and any price difference is slight. The restaurant is clean and bright and my experience was that is it meticulously run given the C19 pandemic conditions. Staff behind the counter were cheery and fun and working extremely hard with smiles, which is wonderful to see. The lineup moved quickly and the process was well organized with delivery drivers having a separate pick up line than takeout customers (as I was.) 3x chicken sandwiches, 3 drinks, 2 potato w/ garlic sides, and 1 tabouli side = $46 out the door, or about $15/head and leftovers for the fridge. I like that the sandwiches are crisped over a flame grill (flame I think but a grill anyway) rather than a panini press. It gets the pita a little black-charred and crispier which is a subtle and satisfying difference. Highly recommend and will definitely return. (4-stars only because I tend to reserve the 5-star max for more complete dine-in, wait staff, front of the house / back of the house experiences.)

Yelp
I ordered a chicken shawarma plate and chicken shawarma sandwich today on UberEats. I had high expectations after reading a bunch of raving reviews on r/Ottawa on Reddit. Anyway, I am extremely disappointed with the quality of their food. The chicken was disgustingly DRY and the potatoes weren't fresh. The chicken dried out my mouth as I chewed it. On top of all that, the food wasn't even remotely warm. Did they give me a batch of food from the day before? It doesn't matter how big the portions are, but if the food is lacking quality, it's garbage. ESPECIALLY at $15.95 for a platter.

Quovadis Q.

Yelp
This is the first time I order from this place and second time using just eats. 3.00 delivery charge and a 2 dollars driver tip charge show up after I input my credit card info and click ok to pay... that was a bad surprise. Then I called them to make sure they have the correct address and the lady answered politely but kind of a bit lost finally she worked it out...then I waited 55 minutes for my order to arrive from just two blocks away???? Then I opened the bag and took out he first sandwich . Bread was Brocken up could see old shredded lettuce almost rotten and missing items inside. Second sandwich was even worse. And the meet was old and with a horrible texture and bad feeling in my mouth. At least I would have expected just one thing to go half right but not really, disappointing all the way. Even the 4.25 dollars for a tiny order of Macain fries wasn't cooked properly. Disappointing all the way. One thing is for sure I will never order from there again and maybe completely remove this just eats app from my phone. Hope I don't get food poisoning from the bite I had. I just hope

Yelp
Will never eat here or order food from here again. Puked up my dinner after pulling a used bandaid out of my mouth from my garlic potatoes

Yelp
Flashy New Shawarma Palace at Bank & Hunt Club opens up! Let me preface my review by saying, I am a shawarma veteran. I have been wolfing down shawarmas since the 1980's, when they were drunk food after a bar hopping on the Hull strip. I have been enjoying them for 25 years now. Come to think of it, Ottawa shawarma joints probably started sprouting up all over the city, after the Hull nightlife sweep in the early 1990's. There's tons of Yelp hype in regards to Shawarma Palace - how is it that I've never heard anything from my friends who have enjoyed them with me for the last 25 years? I ordered a chicken shawarma with lettuce, tomato, pickles and garlic sauce. Honestly, it was MEH. I would say it was par with the majority of shawarma shops in Ottawa. What I really like was the decor. They spent significant dollars on renovating the old Tucson's spot. As much as I like the look, it doesn't seem to fit what they do: fast food. Kudos to them for the details to attention, but I don't think the average client is looking for a classy dining. The place screams trendy and upscale yet offers cafeteria dining. If greasy spoon shawarmas joints scare you, the new Shawarma Palace is a great spot to visit. Somehow, I see this spot having a hard go. You might think that it's a great spot, at the corner of Bank and Hunt Club. Thing is, it's really only accessible if you are driving south on Bank. It's a busy intersection at all times of the day. I really wanted them to blow me away. As much as I appreciate the little details they put into the restaurant, the food was average. Don't see myself returning anytime soon.

Yelp
These guys are awesome. They have the best food and unreal people. Thanks for hooking me up on that order. -Ryan PS Best shawarma in the city

Yelp
It was my go to place for shawarma for years..! Yesterday, it was the WORST donair I have ever ATTEMPTED to eat..!! Beef was not seasoned, cut in big RAW chunks, greasy and toasted into CHARCOAL..! One of the servers wore his mask just barely covering his lower lip, and shouted and spewed snot from his humungous beak..took 35 minutes to get it although there were less than 3 people ahead of us..and the " sweet sauce " tasted oily , sour and OLD. Since dining in is prohibited due to COVID, we were going to eat it when we got home which is less than 2 miles away - $ 20.17 and 2 bites later - threw it ALL in the trash. Dogs would not even try it..! I KID YOU NOT....! It was PUKE inducing.
google avatar

Caylee G.

Yelp
2 stars or three? Hmmm I was in the area and thought I'd check in to see what the fuss was about. Yaaaaawn. The decor is cafeteria, and a lot of money for meh! If you don't wrangle a booth you are sitting on pretty but extremely uncomfortable plastic chairs. Chanel Design...don't be so proud of your accomplishment; it's not that outstanding. The food. Well what can one say other than...I've had better. Way better. What a disappointment. I guess I was expecting more and got a whole lot of let down. It's not that the food was bad, it just wasn't great. And one size does not fit all. With no platter choices and a huge sandwich and you want to have something other than that, you pay. And pay. The staff are reasonably efficient but most certainly not pleasant. I got grunts and gestures as if speaking was too much effort and not in their job description. I was very clear as to what I wanted and by the time I got to the cash I was still missing my potatoes. It was practically thrown at the cashier, as if it was her fault. By that point my "usual" at any other place looked like a feed for 2! What a waste of food as I could not finish it and felt guilty. I do not like ordering more than I can eat and here if you want a little of this and a small that, its not an option. I wont be going back as Shawarma Station is right across the street and much more friendly, comfortable and the food is better. Hopefully this establishment won't last long and something worthwhile reopens in it's place.

Yelp
Excellent restaurant. The food tastes great, the atmosphere is great, and the service was quick. I ordered a shwarama plate for dine in and wow, for under $15 you get a whole lot of food... Tasty food! I love the quality of the meat and the freshness of the rice. The vegetables were alright, and the potatoes could be a little better, but it is still overall a good meal. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to have a great shwarama in Ottawa!
google avatar

Leslie S.

Yelp
This was the highlight of our day in Ottawa. We took the chicken and beef sharwama plate and both were delicious and for 33$. Personally, the chicken was my favorite. It was tender and juicy plus the garlic sauce was really tasty. They give a great portion considering the price range. One plate was 15$ and usually in Montreal, price ranges to 12-14$. The potatoes was not really oily like at bashas or amir. Anyway, we enjoyed our meal.

Nikki T.

Yelp
I give this place a 5 for the portions and fresh food. Yes, it's busy... in fact I've never seen so many people in a lineup for shawarma before but the portions are huge. We got a beef shawarma plate and a chicken shawarma plate. I liked the beef a bit more but both were yummy.

t- r.

Yelp
I have been going here for a while I would rate it above 3 stars but I can't overlook the fact that past 5pm the chicken is dry and I have never received beef that was not dry and the cross contamination that can occur is a bit concerning. I had not asked for turnip and he put it on anyway then realized the mistake took it off the sandwich and put it back with the rest of the turnips so do be carful if you have any allergies.
google avatar

Erin M.

Yelp
This is my favourite place to eat. Huge portions. Very fresh and so tasty. We moved back to Ottawa this summer and I thought that Petawawa had the beat Shawarma, but this place trumps all other shawarmas.

Yelp
THE BEST SHAWARMA AND SHISH TAOUK I have ever had in my life ! Everything I've tried here is unbelievably good. I always get the mixed plate that comes with rice, potatoes and a side salad. The portions are incredibly big, I always share a plate with my s/o. Ever since I discovered Shawarma Palace, I have forgotten about all the shawarma spots I go to in Montreal. That's how good it is ! This is the only Lebanese spot I go to and I live 2 hours away haha. I daydream about it and I have asked my s/o multiple times to go to Ottawa just to get me a plate haha. He doesn't mind since it really is good and it's worth the overall 4 hour drive. Haha. See I used to drive to Ottawa for Popeyes but Popeyes have been replaced lol. This location gets really busy especially during lunch/dinner time . If you are in a hurry I suggest coming in earlier, wait times can be a little crazy especially during peak hours.

Yelp
Every so often we split a chicken shawarma salad and sometimes we even has left overs. The portion size is great, the price is right and the food is delicious. This is a great option for those on low carb diets.

Yelp
I don't usually write poor reviews. But sometimes it's necessary. My colleagues and I visited this restaurant for lunch today. We both ordered chicken and beef shawarma, but the chef only put chicken in it. After we found out we went up to the counter and asked for beef on the side. My colleague was served first and receive a plate of potatoes in lieu of beef, which he accepted. However, I was left standing there, and after a while the woman at the cashier simply told me the potatoes was for both me and my colleague. I was dumbfounded. Never was that communicated and never was I asked if that was okay, or if I wanted potatoes at all. Above all, two separate customers are supposed to share one small plate as compensation, is beyond stingy. It was also extremely rude. The chef did come over and offered to make me a new sandwich, but I settled with just some beef on my plate. The gesture was greatly appreciated. The damage was done, however, and this is really regarding the woman behind the counter: do not be stingy with your customer, especially when it was your oversight. Your customers deserve what they paid for, and compensation and an apology when not delivered. Never ask for two grown men, with no relations, to share a plate of potatoes laced with gulps of garlic cream running all over. It's unsanitary. It's disgusting. We will not return to this restaurant again.

Yelp
This place is a MUST for us every time we go to Ottawa. Good Shawarma is simply unattainable in Toronto, and this place puts shame to all the other Shawarma joints elsewhere. The restaurant itself has ample seating, and is usually packed with families grabbing a quick bite to eat. It does tend to get really busy, but was only a 5 minute wait when we arrived. We ordered a couple chicken/mixed Shawarma, as well as a side of potatoes, and a few falafel. The plates are usually the best value, but those things are just plain massive! I didn't feel like having a heart attack in the middle of the restaurant, and plus, i didn't wear my stretchy pants. Falafel was amazing. Nice and crispy, with a good amount of filling but was oddly not greasy like I expected. I asked for the garlic sauce too, which is basically heaven in it's own right. Pretty sure its terrible calorie-wise, but it tastes soooo good! Warning though, your breath will clear rooms afterwards. Shawarma themselves were moist, and stacked with everything. I really like how they put it on the grill before serving. I totally dislike when the pita gets all soggy. This place is A1 - definitely recommend it!

Yelp
I don't know if I've ever thought to give 5 stars to restaurants before (albeit I'm new to Yelp). My boyfriend and I are regulars at this Shawarma Palace. We have been to several others in Ottawa but nothing beats this one. The guys are friendly, the service is quick and the portions are HUGE!! You get so much food for your money, it's unbelievable, no where else have I seen plates with so much food!! It's very very delicious too, no complaints there. It gets very busy, anywhere between 5 and 6h30pm you will have a line up inside. But it's well worth the wait. You can ask to go, or to eat in. If you eat in, the plates are bigger than the to go containers, so you will get more food for the value. Regardless if take out or eat in, my boyfriend and I cannot finish 1 platter by ourselves, we have to share.

Yelp
I went here at 2am on someone's recommendation. Not only was the staff incredibly helpful and sweet but the food here is amazing. I ordered the shawarma poutine and my brother in law ordered the mixed platter and we got humus and naan on the side. I still haven't recovered and I don't think I'll be able to eat food anything ever again. When they told me that Ottawa had the best shawarma I didn't believe them but now I don't think I could eat Toronto shawarma ever again.

Yelp
I was there last week and purchased the Shawarma platter. I am a person of colour, so , I was pretty upset when the white couple a head of me got the fresh cooked chicken which was moist and looked very tender. When it was my turn, I got the over cooked dry chicken that was sitting around for hours and dryer out. I will never eat there again. They appear to have a double standard. My only regret is not complaining sooner. My mistake.

Yelp
We drive by this new location of Shawarma Palace all the time - watched the renovations, saw the sign go up - and finally saw that it was open a few weeks back. Finally had time to stop and try it. So a few things: 1) Wow on the décor - easily the most upscale shawarma joint - strike that! - shawarma *restaurant* I've ever seen. Hints of current colours are in easily replaceable components (chairs etc.) which means they should be able to live with their choices for some time to come. 2) Wow on the size - the best known location of this restaurant on Rideau only holds about 50 people at best....this one is about double that. Easily the biggest shwarama restaurant I've seen. (Since this is so very conveniently located for us, I hope they get this table turns they need to stay there!) 3) Food was what I expected - I love the Rideau location's Chicken Shawarma plate and that's what we had here too. It was great! (I'm wondering if previous reviewers felt the effects of 'opening' - new locations even of old favorites are never good for at least the first month as they sort out their systems, food making, etc.) 4) It was steady but not lined up when we went in - so unlike at the Rideau location, we didn't have to wait in a 10 minute lineup. Yay! Jeff (who beat me to first review! dang it!) ;-) noted it's hard to get into the location due to business of the intersection. Not sure I agree. It may be challenging at certain times - but we were easily able to turn left from northbound Bank street into the parking lot - and then turn back out onto Northbound Bank without any issues at about 7p on Friday evening. Would I recommend: Based on the food, yes. (I admit to a fondness for hole in the wall restaurants - so if we had out of towners, we'd probably still go to Rideau location - but I'm happy to go to this location when we are in the area (weekly to pick up my daughter from her part time job). Would I return: Yes!

Yelp
The food is average... Cross the street to the Shawarma Station and you'll get a much better sandwich. The decor is really nice, they obviously worked hard to transform the interior, and it is definitely a welcome eating environment. I find the food expensive, since they (unlike most shawarma restaurants) don't sell a trio for a sandwich, potatoes, and a soda... Be prepared to spend almost $5 more than expected to eat here. Also, be careful of the floors in the winter. A poor tile choice leaves the floor extremely slick as soon as it is wet, and me and the person I dined with both almost slipped on the floor numerous times. Overall the food is good but not great, and expensive compared to other shawarma restaurants. There are better options nearby. I won't be coming back any time soon.

Yelp
Pathetic service!! Took 30 min to get my food with 3 people ahead of me. Guy rolling sandwiches used his bare hands which were dirty. His finger nails were all black underneath. The food quality is garbage. They dont even ask you what you want in the sandwich. The cashier was more eager to take my cash while i waiting 30 min. Regret coming in. Save yourself the time and go somewhere else.

Yelp
It is the nicest looking restaurant in Ottawa that I have been in. At first I thought it was expensive, 13$ for a platter, then I got one and realized there is enough food on that thing for 2 people. It is absolutely delicious.
