I tried Shawarnado recently (Chicken shawarma meal) and it was decent overall, but not anything crazy like some people make it out to be.
The portion was huge, and I did get exactly what I ordered, so no complaints there. They definitely don’t skimp on quantity. It looks very appetizing at first because of the heavy amount of sauces on top. That overload of sauce does most of the work flavor wise though. Without it, I honestly don’t think there would be much going on. The flavors themselves are pretty average.
The fries were soggy and not very enjoyable. The garlic potatoes were actually the highlight of the meal and the only thing I’d say I genuinely liked. The chicken wasn’t bad, but it had a slightly mushy texture and didn’t have that strong, well seasoned shawarma taste you expect. It was just okay.
Their salads could use some improvement too. Nothing terrible, just not very fresh or well put together.
I’m not trying to bad mouth them. It’s not bad food and the portions are generous. I just think it’s a bit overhyped. If you go in expecting something mind blowing, you might be disappointed. If you’re just looking for a big, filling meal, it’ll do the job.
