Where to Drink in Seattle This St. Patrick’s Day - Eater Seattle

"This mini-chain has St. Patrick’s events at all of its Seattle-area locations, all of them cover-free. There will be Irish music — mostly of the pipe-and-drum variety — Guinness giveaways, and even an opportunity to meet the Mariner Moose at the Smith Tower from noon until 2 p.m." - Harry Cheadle

Google
Super Irish feel, and nice staff. I'd actually give the fish&chips three stars only, was a bit overdone and thin (would've expected a bit more amazing with as close as this place is to Pike's Market), but the chicken pot pie and burger were both five stars, and the Guinness was an easy six. I'd definitely visit this place again.

Staff from the underground tour recommended this bar/restaurant, and it did not disappoint. What a wonderful Irish-themed bar! They have many Irish whiskies, beers, food, and decor. I enjoyed the huge serving of whisky Mac and cheese, and my son had the enormous Rasher burger. Our beverages were a wonderfully presented pint of Guinness, a single dead rabbit whiskey, and a single Jamison black barrel. Our server was well-versed in the whiskies and knew what to recommend based on our flavor profile. Indoor/outdoor seating, bar, and booth. Attentive service. Seattle prices. It was a great Irish-themed lunch.

This pub was perfect for a chaotic family of 10! Jack was extremely patient, attentive, and accommodating. The food and drinks were also amazing. We will definitely be back

Came for MNF but their big TV was broken. Asked for the game on three other TV’s but the remote was not working. So ended up watching the game on my phone. Ordered the drunken wings, but they were out of wings. At least the first Guinness I ordered came with a cool beer foam logo *Updated 4/3/25* Thanks to Robbie and the staff for providing a better experience the second time around. They were kind enough to send me a gift card, so I stopped by for a happy hour dinner!

Google
They have an awesome happy hour! The bar tender was welcoming too. Their chowder is hearty. It’s not creamy like Ivar’s but I really like it! I also tried the fish and fries. Everything was yummy. Great spot!

An example of what Irish American restaurant/bars should be. Traditional hearty Irish dishes such as Shepparda pie and corn beef and hash. There are also traditional American dishes like fried chicken and French fries. There's something for everyone here. The ambiance is quite remarkably Irish. Mohagany wood trim pretty much everywhere. Fun Irish wall decor. There are even books and board games to pass the time while waiting for your food and enjoying company. Prices are great. Especially for downtown Seattle. Clean location. Plenty of seating both inside and outside. Friendly staff.

Google
Friendly service, wasn't my first choice but since other place was closed I tried here. Happy I did. Fish and chips was good- not the normal breading and fries (chips) were nicely seasoned.

Cool vibe, great service, nice selection of Irish beers on tap. I recommend the Reuben or the bangers and mash. Burgers are very good as well.

Yelp
We met up here to grab a quick dinner before doing the Pioneer Square Art Walk. Pleasant surroundings, prompt service, generous portions. Everyone seemed happy with their meals - I got the Irish Stew which was excellent - probably the best stew I've ever eaten. I suspect the place could get pretty noisy when crowded - we were lucky enough to be there when there were still a lot of open tables. I'll definitely have this place near the top of my list when I need to grab a bite in the area.

Yelp
Always a fabulous experience at Shawn O'Donnell's ... say what you like about kitschy Irish pubs but they do a great job. The service is always tops, and their lunch specials are amazing! I ordered the chicken pot pie and a Guinness - a hand made sit down lunch for under $25 is my jam, thanks! I really love the feel of this place... warm wood, high ceilings, and the patio is AMAZING in the spring and summer, especially if you like to people-watch. This is my favorite spot to go when I finish work a little early and want to get lunch and beer before I ride the Sounder home! I'll keep coming back. Thanks all!

Yelp
I came after work and the waitress was very friendly bc and accommodating. Mainly came to watch the all star game with a friend on a Wednesday and had dinner. I loved my corned beef. The service was fantastic. I like how laid back it was in there and not pretentious. I can't wait to go again.

Yelp
We were on vacation in Seattle and I was severely vitamin G (Guinness) deficient. We stopped in and were saved. The pints were cold and perfectly poured. I had the shepherds pie which I found quite delicious. I recommend trying the brown sauce on it. The waitress was friendly and service was great. It was a slow night so we were well taken care of. It's your usual Irish pub atmosphere which I'm a big fan of. Im also a big fan of being able to grab a pint with having the family together. It is kid friendly which unfortunately, some places that serve beer in Seattle are not. Cold beer. Good food. Warm people. Really all you can ask for.

Yelp
We walked to this nice pub from our hotel, it was one of the few places open in the evening. We ordered the wings, fish & chips and sandwich. The sandwich was good, the wings were a little too salty for me. The server was nice and our food didn't take long.

Yelp
A fantastic restaurant in Pioneer Square. The space is large and has an Irish feel to it. The staff are friendly and the service is great. The food is flavorful and there is a wide variety to choose from. The Ruben was perfectly made and the fries were freshly and just the right amount of crispness. Don't miss out on trying the shepherds pie boxty as it is packed with flavor. The veggies were fresh and flavored with garlic. The boxty was perfectly crisped and packed full of a rich shepherds pie then smothered in a delicious brown sauce. Words can't really describe the flavor-fulness of this dish. For the drinks, grab an espresso martini as it pairs well with everything. It's a great place to come for a bite, to watch the game, or just have some drinks. No complaints.

Yelp
Great Authentic Irish Pub. Have Irish Bartender too.Super Irish Menu for food and drinks From Boxty Cakes too Corn Beef and Cabbage.

Yelp
Delicious Reuben, fries, and local beer. I appreciated the recommendation from the bartender on the IPA. All of the good Scotch brands on the bar. A countdown to St. Patty's Day for those who are curious. We sat comfortably at the bar in the middle of a Friday afternoon, but can imagine this place gets packed during happy hour, lunch, and evenings. Nice staff, and clean.

Yelp
Solid fish and chips. Their clam chowder had a hint of spiciness and it was delicious. Staff was friendly. Great deal on the lunch specials.

Yelp
Your typical Irish pub.. always a good thing! Got there in time for happy hour. Started with the pub chips...thin and crispy with just enough salt. Finished with the chicken pot pie. All good was tasty and hot.

Yelp
We were there on a slow Saturday afternoon and then again on a busy Seahawk Sunday. Both times the service was great, and the food was really good. My husband had the happy hour burger on Saturday (added cheese and bacon) and declared it one of the best. I had the dip sandwich which was really good as well. Saturday we had the place to ourselves and Sunday we waited about 30 minutes for a seat. But both times the service and attentiveness of the staff was excellent.

Yelp
This all takeout maybe it's better sit inside. Ordered the corned beef and cabbage, corn beef dry flavor is alright. Fish and chips all right needs salt , the clam chowder was yummy with the oyster crackers , I haven't tried the Mac and cheese . I would sit in the next time for a hopefully better experience.

Yelp
Arrived after the Mariners game and impressed with the flawless execution of a "well oiled machine" with a flow of fans dispersing from stadium to the downtown area

Yelp
4.5 star St. Patrick's day experience! We went the weekend before St. Patrick's day and had a great time. Note, if you get a Guinness (even Guinness 0) they will print things on the foam. I have never experienced that, so this was neat. Service and ambiance were good. Fries were super crunchy and came hot from the frier. Def a great St. Patrick's day spot

Yelp
My experience at Shawn O'Donnell's was okay. It wasn't my favorite restaurant/bar experience and was not my worst. I went at lunchtime on a weekday. The atmosphere was definitely bar/pub like and I loved the Irish atmosphere. The food was decent, but wasn't the best. I really wish they had more vegetarian options besides just an impossible meat veggie burger. Overall, the veggie burger was good and so were the fries, but were not the best I have ever had. It would have been nice to have some Irish specific veggie options. The service was okay. It was not the best service I have ever had. It seemed like they were maybe short staffed that day. I'm unsure. My service could have been better. My server just basically stood at the bar talking to a friend the entire time. Overall, the vibe was great, the food was okay, and know that if you are vegetarian, there are VERY limited options for you. I recommend Shawn O'Donnell's overall, but it's not a place I would make my first choice.

Yelp
Great place to grab a cocktail and appetizer, generous drinks, good food, happy atmosphere, large restaurant with equally large parking lot that includes an elevator if you park out back (down a hill)

Yelp
We came here for a Notre Dame football game watch (Go Irish Beat Trojans). They serve a lot of traditional Irish fare and have all the classic Irish drinks. They also take some liberties (looking at you, Irish nachos), but it works out well. I had a great time and would recommend any fellow Irish fans make their way out here for a game.

Yelp
My wife and I stopped by on a Thursday evening around 7:30. We were staying nearby and decided to drop by for dinner. Staff were friendly and attentive. It was fairly empty during our visit but there was a friendly couple sitting next to us so we did chat with them. I ordered the stew, my wife also ordered an Irish dish with soda bread. The soda bread wasn't too heavy which was a pleasant surprise. My stew was very good and potato heavy (that's a scoop of mashed potatoes in the middle). Overall this is an acceptable stop with a bit of a generic feel to it. Food was ok, service was good, but no wow factor involved.

Yelp
We went for St Patrick's day...which can be a crazy experience. I have celebrated SP day at many Seattle locations over the years. This place does not disappoint. Stamps for Guinness. Bagpipes. And extremely good fish and chips. This was my first time here. It will not be my last.
google avatar

Amy R.

Yelp
We stopped by here to watch the Notre Dame football game and eat dinner. We had to sit at a tiny table but it worked. The service was great. Waitress was attentive. I had the Guinness beef stew which was good. The large comes with soda bread. My husband got fish and chips but substituted clam chowder for fries. He enjoyed both.

Yelp
Amazing, Irish bar in downtown Seattle! Feels real deal Irish vibe! Corn beef ? Yea, as you would expect! My Boss had the Shepard Pie and said he could eat it the rest of his life good! So then we get to my server Adrian, sweetest soul you would ever meet! Rob, young guy Manages this location, does such an amazing job at this location! Former , bar owner here! Noticeable staff!

Yelp
Sometimes you just want cozy place to settle in for some good solid comfort food. Shawn O'Donnell's offers this up very well in its Irish pub format. It has the menu items you'd expect including fish and chips, burgers, and corned beef. I enjoyed my Brascher Burger, which included thick Irish bacon and a fried egg atop my cheeseburger. It was cooked properly (more than I'd normally request but the food Nazis of the Department of Health are protecting us from medium rare burgers) with a tasty grilled pretzel bun. There's a nice selection of adult beverages here and although I couldn't partake (work night) I would definitely want to come here on the weekend to take in a lazy lunch and watch a ball game or two with some brew. Recommended.

Yelp
Shawn O'Donnell's is an Irish pub and is named after a real person! Shawn opened the first location in Everett and has since opened multiple locations across the greater Seattle area including this one at the Smith Tower. I came here during their happy hour (daily 3-6pm and 9-close) which includes but is not limited to $6 wines, $6 pints, and $7 Irish cocktails. My first drink was the Irish manhattan ($7) which was strong and dry. Compared to its non-happy hour price ($12) I think this is the best bang for your buck during happy hour. My second drink was the salted caramel Irish coffee ($7) which was a hot drink and tasted good. It was sweeter and you can taste the salted caramel and makes for a great drink during the winter. This is a cool place for a group of people to hang out at. The vibes were cool and they have a good daily happy hour.

Yelp
Not too far from the pioneer square light rail stop- We had a great afternoon here waiting to check into our air b n b after the courtyard Marriott were complete Aholes to us. We tried several lunch specials, I had the fish and chips- made with cod. Pretty good but the fish seemed a little over for me (4stars) - the pub burger was delicious (would probably get this next time. Mom had her first boxty with corn beef and liked it. Great selection of Irish beers (I had harp) friendly staff - Jeff was awesome and we even got to watch some of the Olympics . Also tried some of the drunken wings for happy hour... so tasty. Lady next to me had i think shepards pie and it smelled amazing! Great spot .

Yelp
First time stopping in here, the service was great from the bartender. Since It was my first time here, I went with a safe order and got the poutine off the happy hour menu. It is unlike any poutine I've tasted before, they add onions and bacon to It. It was pretty good just couldn't get a good read on the gravy to say whether that was good or not. The vodka cranberry was very good as well. Overall I think I'll be back to try more items here again

Yelp
Wonderful meal! Highly recommend. Great atmosphere, wonderful service and great food!

Yelp
Wow! Fantastic Irish pub experience. Front desk employee recommended while checking into the Courtyard Marriott. Was a little skeptical at first but figured we'd give it a try. It was a short two-minute walk from the hotel. We decided to sit outside since the weather was just about perfect. Jeff, our waiter, opened up the umbrellas for us, which helped keep the sun off us while we ate. Service as a whole was outstanding. He was very patient with our questions and random requests. I went with a Guinness, since you really can't go wrong with Guinness in an Irish pub. Although, They had some other local beers that jumped out at me, and some Irish whiskeys that I didn't recognize. Maybe next time. My wife wasn't up for anything with alcohol and was craving tea. It ended up being too bitter for her, although Jeff took it back without any issues. As to the beer, you might have read that they can imprint a design on the foam (typically a clover I think). Even cooler was, when he brought it out, there was a Tampa Bay Buccaneers logo in the foam instead. Jeff had noticed my hat had the logo and somehow they were able to do a Bucs logo instead - totally wasn't expecting that but VERY COOL! Pour was also perfect. And maybe I'm biased, but safe to say a Bucs logo on top of a Guinness does make it taste better. As to the food, we went with the following (including some lunch specials - lunch goes from 11AM to 3PM): 1) Lunch Fish and Chips - a little cheaper than the dinner price but I swapped out the fries with their version of clam chowder (see details below on that). The breading was the perfect crunchiness and had some nice flavor. The fish itself was perfect texture. 2) Clam Chowder - LOTS of clam in there and was really hearty with the potatoes and veggies and such. Was seasoned well, which helped add more flavor (sometimes Clam chowder can be bland but not in this case). There was a small upcharge to swap it out for fries, but it was definitely worth it 3) Poutine - kudos to Jeff for being able to do the fries extra crispy. Decent helping of cheese curds, and the gravy was really flavorful. Adding bacon to the mix was a nice touch. Side note, I didn't see it on the menu, but had read about it on another review prior to coming. Jeff didn't suggest they no longer serve it or anything and seemed to know exactly what we were talking about. 4) Pot Pie - the crust was fluffy and flavorful. The chicken and potatoes underneath were decent. The clover embedded into the crust on top was a nice touch 5) Side salad - Decent for $5. Lettuce was fresh, with croutons, cherry tomatoes and mushrooms (something you don't see on a side salad often). Also came with Shredded Parmesan cheese, which Jeff put on the side for my wife alone with the dressing. All in all, was really happy we gave this place a try. Price was very reasonable for the amount of food we had, and we were even able to get a small discount after mentioning we were referred there by the hotel (we had our hotel cards as proof). Jeff came by regularly to check on us, but didn't make us feel at all like we were rushed or interrupted every five seconds.

Yelp
My friend and I went here on St. Patrick's Day and the food was amazing just like always. I was excited to see a Irish band come play during our visit. Since we went on St. Patrick's Day, there was a lot going on. I have been here in the past and absolutely had to get the sheppards pie again it is literally perfection! This time I wanted to try some thing new, so we also got a Reuben to split and some delicious corn beef patties called boxty cakes that came with a yummy not too spicy horseradish sauce on the side, every time I come here have an amazing experience and the food is always to die for. I enjoyed the novelty drinks they had for St. Patrick's Day as well. This time we decided to sit outside as we normally dine in it was a perfect day with the sun out and mild weather. I must admit the patio was a bit crowded, but at the same time it was a holiday. I don't believe that it is the same on a normal day. I have been here many times now and will continue to go anytime. I want some good Irish food. This is the best place I've had thus far.

Yelp
Good happy hour menu items at. 2 pm lunch for us. Friendly service. They could have used another waiter. Wings were a bit over soaked but maybe that's just how they make them. Would come back.

Yelp

Yelp
Food was terrible you could stand your silver ware up in the soup it was like mud. The stew wasn't much better . The service was good .

Yelp
My Mama and I were visiting from NYC and stumbled upon this little gem - Rachel was delightfully accommodating and the food (we shared a Fish and Chips, and the Grilled Chicken Salad, plus lemonade) was very yummy! We would highly recommend!!!

Yelp
This is a typical Irish Pub. There's a good selection of beer and a menu with plenty of variety. We both enjoyed their Fish and Chips. Our server was friendly and attentive. If you're near Pioneer Square, give it a try.

Kayla S.

Yelp
Excellent selection of drinks and the vibe inside was awesome. Definitely what we wanted with an Irish Bar. Food was 4/5, for a salmon and the shepherds pie. Was a little quiet and less crowded than we would've liked at the time but we'd come back!
google avatar

Yelp
I came to Shawn O'Donnell's because it was right near my hotel. I will say that the service I had was great, which primarily why I gave this four stars over three. The bartender here was extremely friendly and talking with everyone, which is what I love. I came for some happy hour items. I ordered the chicken strips and fries and the corned beef and soda bread. The chicken was hand dipped, not the frozen strips you see at so many places. Cooked perfectly! Crunchy and not oily. The soda bread had a great flavor. The biggest disappointment, which was kind of shocking was the corned beef. It was so dry, I could only eat half of it. The horseradish sauce was great, but it can only do so much. Had this been decent corned beef, I would have given this place five stars. No excuse for corned beef this dry. Everything else and the environment was great!
google avatar

Yelp
Went in before the Mariners game was seated in the bar area, bartender ignored us and gave us dirty looks as we sat and waited , and never waited on us ...pretty disappointing, I myself am a bartender and would have at least said "I'll be right with you" or acknowledged us .... Everyone has a bad day but this lady just must be having a bad life.

Yelp
Thoroughly enjoyed happy hour! The poutine was delicious. I enjoyed the Caprisun alcoholic beverage. Our server was fantastic!

Yelp
Food was great, music a little angry but typical of Irish pub. Quiet atmosphere on a Saturday night. Service was ok.
google avatar

Yelp
This spot has the best beef stew I've had. The fish pieces in their fish and chips are actual full pieces, not some tiny 2-inch rectangles or nuggets like so many of the popular fish and chips joints around Seattle. Their lunch special menu is my favorite. Some of the best menu items for $12 can't be beat for downtown Seattle. Compared to other locations, their serving size has always been generous, and the staff is very friendly. You can tell some of them have been doing this for a minute as they've got a quick system and I never have to wait too long. Special shoutout to the bartender for his consistently good service.

Yelp
Just ate at Shawn O'Donnell's American Grill and Irish Pub - Butte and we didn't know what to expect with our first time there but when I say the staff and food blew us out of the water I mean it!! From the moment we walked through the door we were greeted as old friends and loved the decor of the restaurant! We sat down to a clean space at the bar and were served by one of the lovely bartenders I did not get her name but she was super nice. We got the Irish Mac and cheese and chicken pot pie and both were AMAZING! The bread they serve you initially came with a type of honey butter and we devoured that. Everything was inviting and cozy and just wonderful! We can't wait to go back! I told my husband that date nights and anniversaries can be spent there Great job!

Yelp
Want some good Irish whiskey and friendly staff? Go here and enjoy it all! Short walk from many attractions and good food

Neil S.

Yelp
We visited on a very busy game day. The front host was the most kind friendly un stressed host we have seen in a long time dining out. He was calm, helped clean the tables, and was busy assisting everyone. He was excellent. Food was great and our server was attentive. Great experience. Go Hawks!

Yelp
While visiting the city, we wanted to try something different from the typical fare we prefer (Asian, Italian, etc) so I started looking for something local to our area (Pioneer Park); saw this Pub and the 4-star rating from Yelp, it was only 1.5 blocks away so that combination was a winner! :) Went in, place was not crowded, every customer was sitting in a spaced out manner, staff wearing masks, sanitizers in place by the entrance, ambiance was very Irish Pub, music and all! We were seated and served very promptly. Typical fare, burgers, shepherd pies, chicken pies, etc. I opted for a chicken chipotle wrap served with tater tots and a bowl of Irish Donegal Clam Chowder. I also added a pint of Irish Death Dark Ale which was super delicious! The wrap was decent but the clam chowder abs the dark ale were simply fantastic! The Irish music kept adding to the ambiance, loved the decor, what else could I have asked? If you want a quick grab, very good beer and service, this nice Pub is a safe bet.

Warren Z.

Yelp
Not enought staff (slow service), mediocre pot pie that left my stomache a little unsettled. The place is decorated well, if not all that clean. Very friendly staff and friendly.
google avatar

Yelp
Good, friendly, attentive, helpful service! Fish and Chips were delicious...crispy without being overly breaded, and the fish was firm and flavorful. Atmosphere was very "English Pub"-like. The Guinness was cold, with a beautiful pour.
google avatar

Lorena L.

Yelp
I was in Seattle for a conference and ran into this little gem while exploring places to eat on Yelp. The reason I went was for the design they make on your pint of Guinness. I also went back to try their Guinness beef stew and it did not disappoint. If I ever go back to Seattle I'll make it a point to stop here again.
google avatar

Octavio O.

Yelp
The burger was delicious, the drinks were great, and the staff were awesome! Jack and Brandon were great! Will definitely be coming back here when visiting Seattle again.

Yelp
I came here before before covid happened at around October and had the shepherds pie and Irish whiskey mac n chz. Though not a lot of beers, they had a good selection, and the service was great. I was CRAVING the shepherds pie so I made the drive just for that and I ended up getting the Mac n Chz as well lol. The pie was extremely flavorful, and I love how crispy the cheesy layer was. Mac n Chz did not disappoint either! Great tasting sauce and there was no shortage of corned beef. Definitely gonna come back ASAP!
