I write wordy reviews, and a few individuals have asked if I could shorten them up... so here goes. Shawnniecakes, go! Their food is excellent, their sweets are divine, but the thing that has stayed with me after my recent visit is how friendly and genuine the owner, LeShawn, is. Some people are part of a business, some people bring their energy to their business, and some people are their business. That is what LeShawn is to Shawnniecakes, not just the owner, but the living, beating heart of this tiny local treasure. I felt like we were friends after 2 minutes of chatting, and I am not alone in that, many visitors comment on how personable and lovely LeShawn is. The hype is as real as she is, this place is a (slightly) hidden gem! I ordered a chicken Philly and a Reuben, with a side of mac-n-cheese to go. I also grabbed a sweet treat out of the case, unfortunately, I can't remember the name, darnit! The food arrived quickly, long before I was done chatting with the charming LeShawn. It was simple, yummy, and satisfying. Many places strive for that home-cooked taste, and they nailed it! The Philly was loaded with tasty pulled chicken, and it was flavorful while still being mildly spiced. The bun was perfect and I enjoyed the fact that it wasn't soaked with cheese sauce, again, that homemade taste. The Reuben was yummy as well, simple, but possessing an excellent flavor. The sammie was also of a manageable size, which I appreciate in this day of extra double mega sammies. The mac continued the theme of homemade food... as long as you live in the home of an excellent cook! Between bites, my partner said, "This is the real deal..." and then, just like that, it was all gone😋 The sweet was a rich, moist, dark chocolate cake cup, filled with a rich white cream. The filling was between whipped cream and frosting... I am thinking perhaps a thick crème anglaise🤔 Scrumptious! The restaurant is located in the Collins Community Credit Union, with an entrance door right inside the entrance, so one needn't go into the bank, at 1800 1st Ave NE. I am calling this one a must-visit, enjoy the food and friendly atmosphere, and support local🫶 @RickiGoesOut

She was excellent, and was kind enough to let me pickup early. The cupcakes? Absolutely perfect for my daughter’s birthday party! Smelled delicious, looked delicious, and tasted delicious! My daughter squealed when she saw them, they fit her vision perfectly. I highly recommend!

Shout out to LeShawn at Shawnniecakes! We had a commitment from a national chain coffee shop to provide specialty coffee drinks for a work event I was putting together. In the days leading up to the event, I was totally ghosted - at both the local and corporate level. Shawnniecakes came through for us at crunch time and we couldn’t be happier with the product and the customer service! Next time this will be my go-to gal! Support local small businesses! They put their heart and soul into what they do!

What a cute little place. Shawnniecakes brought lunch to our school and I loved it so I had to stop by. The service was immaculate. Shawnnie was super nice and helpful. The food was fantastic. The berry tea and the raspberry ginger tea are both amazing! Served in a Mason jar just like this Southern transplant loves because everything tastes better in a Mason jar. You have to stop and try this local business out!

Grandma had the taste for some soul food and Shawnniecakes delivered! Good portion size, plenty of flavor and prompt service. Another consistent, solid experience!

I don't know where this place has been all my life but holy cow, this is some of the best food I've had since I moved to the state of Iowa. I had the Philly and fries and my wife had the BLT and mac and cheese and we tried some of that shawnnies tea A cookie and this chocolate cake thing and let me tell every you, everything we ordered was freaking delicious! The owner is incredibly kind and sweet and she got everything out for us in less than 10 minutes. Fast service. Great food. Amazing customer service. And very good prices. Five stars. 10 out of 10. Recommend coming out here. Thanks for the amazing experience! We will be back

Philly steaks are the BEST! The meat was juicy and flavorful. They were generously sized. Wings were fall off the bone good and delicious. Sweet potato fries were also delicious and came with marshmallow dipping sauce. Friendly service and went out of her way to make sure we were enjoying our meal. Highly recommend Shawniecakes!!!

Shawnniecakes has Best customer service hands down. I have an allergy that I told the owner about 4 years ago, and did not expect her to remember. Fast forward to today, I place my order at the window the Biscoff frappe I then drive off and the owner Shawnnie called me about 4 times when I finally answered she told me don't drink that it has something your allergic to in it. She asked me to come back so she can replace it and I did, she replaced it with out the allergen and gave me a gift card. Was she at fault in this situation no I was it is my responsibility to tell others what I'm allergic to every time I place an order. I am so thankful she remembered and caught it. I definitely will be returning! P.S. the beverage was delicious best Frappe I have had in a long while.
