During our road trip to PEI we stayed at this hotel as my husband was intrigued with staying at a historic inn. It is situated on a large property and there are many places to sit and enjoy it. It is within walking distance of Brackley Beach and we found all of the staff very friendly and helpful. My reason for just a 3 rating is the fact that we found both the mattress and sofa in our room very uncomfortable. The mattress clearly needs to be replaced as does the sofa. Our sleep was not restful and when we sat on the sofa, it sank. Although the decor was in keeping with an old inn, certain modern upgrades are possible and should be incorporated. This hotel was the only hotel in 12 that we stayed at throughout our trip that did not even have a luggage rack for our suitcases. We had to improvise. |We had a very pleasant dinner here and have no complaints about that. In the morning, our room rate included a "hot breakfast". We were offered pancakes or eggs benedict. Thankfully, I opted for the pancakes although I had to ask for maple syrup. My husband chose the "eggs" benedict. He received one poached egg on half an English muffin. No potatoes, no salad or fruit, just one egg on half a muffin. It arrived on a big plate which made the presentation look even worse. Given all of this, the strictest cancellation policy we encountered and the fact that Charlottetown is less than half an hour away, I would have opted for a second night in Charlottetown.
