We took the Sun to Cheese Tour. Such a fun experience! We were pulled on a wooden wagon by a farm truck and it took us all over the beautiful property to view the fabulous buildings, including Vanderbilt’s former mansion! We also got to see the cows up close, learn how they’re milked, and then taste some amazing cheeses made right on the farm. Super friendly guides, delicious samples, and a really cool look at the process from start to finish. Highly recommend!

Totally worth a visit!! You can purchase tours (book ahead because they do get sold out) or do your own thing for free! Dress appropriately to take the trails to the water! We unfortunately didn't have the time to walk there but the pictures looked amazing! There is a free shuttle that takes you to the barn (unfortunately not to the water tho) which is also a short hike if you would rather walk. It was so fun and interesting to learn about their cheddar making process with a glass wall that allows you to watch the cheese makers during the day and interactive activities for both adults and kids. The animals are adorable and friendly and there are daily farm demonstrations throughout the day where you can meet an animal or get some insight on wool collection or cheese making. The bakery has fresh bread, there's a cafe where you can get lunch and there's plenty of outdoor seating around the super gorgeous restored barn building. Definitely plan to spend at least a half day walking the grounds, learning about animals, cheese and trees.

Really nice place to go for a walk in Burlington. You can do nice walking loop trails, see a barn where you can pet animals, taste cheddar cheese that is produced there and buy some fresh bread from their bakery. The entrance is free, but you can do guided tours to the house when available.

A favorite place to visit for quiet walking and taking photos. Great views of the lake. I go every June to enjoy the peony and rose garden. Grateful that the grounds are open to the public. Wish I could afford a night at the inn. Its fantastic.

Such a beautiful place to experience farm life and learn about the dairy process including milk, cheese and other farming and crafting. The bakery at the farm barn was AMAZING and the farm store had plenty to offer from fresh cheese and veggies to local produce. The tractor wagon ride gave us a breathtaking view of the property and it's livestock! Highly recommend!

Highlight of our Vermont vacation! Started the day with the farm tour, where we got to learn about the mission and history of the farm. After, we went on the walking trails and explored the property. “Sheep’s knoll” was a breathtaking spot! The garden at the inn was beautiful- peonies were in full bloom at the time of our trip (early/mid June). Every bit of the trail offered a new perspective of the Vermont landscape! At the end of our stroll, we stopped at the farm shop and enjoyed some “tractor” cheese, strawberries, and bread. All were amazing! This is a MUST do while visiting Vermont.

Don’t hesitate, go for a visit! We stopped by early enough to go for a leisurely walk to the barn area, milk a cow, and see how cheese is made. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly and there was so much to explore on a nice day. You could easily spend half a day here.

Pulled up without doing any research glad we did ! Got to experience the farm life and meet the animals ! Also great bread and cheese and other goodies. The grounds were well kept and accessible for everyone either by walking path or free tractor rides. The staff and animals were both very polite and friendly and we saw a ton of families enjoying their afternoon amongst all different ages but all were getting along and enjoying the scenery and demonstrations by the volunteers. Thank you Shelburne farms for a great experience !
