Fascinating place to learn about American history. They transported entire buildings here in addition to artifacts in what feels like its own small town. Be aware that there is A LOT of walking here, but they do have shuttles if necessary. Regardless, wear comfortable sneakers.
There is something for everyone here. Our kids (6,8 years old) loved the circus museum, the round barn full of old cars, the steamboat, and the school house. I loved all of the former along with the log cabin full of taxidermy big game, the lighthouse, the Wyeth and Grandma Moses paintings in the mansion.
We were here for five hours and didn’t get to see everything. Could easily do two days here and split some time between the museum and Shelburne Farms.
It’s a must see if you’re in Vermont, and many of the locals also recommended it.
Bonus points for Fiddlehead Brewery being located right across the street, and beautiful surrounding views. Absolutely love it here.
