The wines were very good, particularly for being in a region not typically known for wine. Unfortunately, one of the girls working the tasting was sarcastic and rude and it put a damper on our visit. We felt like we were bothering her by doing a tasting and when I commented that I really enjoyed a particular wine, she rolled her eyes at me and sarcastically said "glad we were able to surprise you". Luckily there were two behind the bar and the second was much more friendly, though not exceptionally knowledgeable. I asked how many varieties of grapes they grew and she immediately answered that she didn't know. Seems like a basic piece of information to know about the vineyard you are working at. She made no effort to try and find an answer to my question.
Wine is definitely a 4 star. Service was a 2 star at best. Hence the 3 start average review.
FYI - The tasting room is not dog friendly, which in my experience with vineyards, is somewhat unusually - even more so considering this is VT, but fine - owners are free to make their own rules. Problem was that we weren't able to do a tasting on the patio area outside, which was dog friendly, because they stop doing outside tastings 1 hour before close. For those who like to travel with their dogs, this is useful information. And by the way, we always send one person in to check on the "dog friendly" status, while the other waits outside with the dog for confirmation it is OK, so I don't believe the service above was because we had our dog with us. We asked, they said no, so we left him in the car (it was a cool day).
