"Hidden behind the action on East Nashville’s main streets are 960 acres of lush, green getaway. Those who work and live in East Nashville visit and gush about this oasis often, complete with waterfront views of the Cumberland River and other small bodies. Walking the pooch(es), running or biking the greenway, playing frisbee or just plain napping in the grass are all welcome. The Shelby Bottoms Greenway offers over five miles of paved trail for hiking, biking, running, skating and wildlife watching plus over five more miles of primitive trails for exploring. Pack a snack! You’ll wanna stay awhile." - Perky Bros

I can't even count all of the time I spent on the trails here. Dozens of miles walking on the trails to get out in nature and unplug from the day-to-day grind. People on this trail are typically very respectful. The bicycles are occasionally annoying as they fly are breakneck speed as if trying to set a new record or compete in a competition. So alls to say, be on the lookout for bikes. The trails here offer a really cool diversity in scenery; ranging from lovely water views to deer meandering in the woods, to old bridges, side-trails into nature, and incredible boggy areas.

Shelby Park is an adorable little escape from the city, without going too far out. I love that they have a home for bee’s and plenty of No Mow Zones. Super environmentally friendly ☺️ They have a paved path that goes around the lake, and a woodsy path. Perfect a family outing, picnics or a running. I’ve also seen people fishing but I’m not sure how that works. Either way, worth a visit if you life in Nashville.

I was visiting Nashville from out of town and I brought my dog to Shelby park to get some exercise. We both loved this dog park so much!! It is a really large, fenced in area with lots of trees and grass for dogs and benches for people to sit. All the people and dogs were so friendly! There were a good amount of dogs there each time I went.

It is a great park with lots of life to see and a small lake with papa/ mama ducks with their babies and many other birds like the heron which I posted here as well.

this park is the love of my life. Beautiful green space, dog park, baseball fields, bike paths and ponds. There’s a lot of terrain but if you want a flat, easy bike ride take the music city bike trail. Park seems to be clean, safe etc I have never had any problems. There is a beginners running group in the summer that meets on Mondays and Wednesdays and Saturdays- East Nasty Running Club. Maybe my favorite part is the Lawrence Argent melty, chromey birdie-what a delight.
