Sheldrake Point Winery was an awesome stop! We enjoyed French Dip sandwiches for lunch and it was truly the best French Dip I’ve had ever! We loved several wines but the “Bubbles” was our favorite. Incredible views of both the vineyard and Cayuga Lake. We’ll definitely recommend this special place, with a short, pretty walk down by the historic Driftwood Inn.

Very good tastings! We didn't stay for food, but the menu looked good! The Long Island family staff was super nice and very knowledgeable about wines. The Gewurtztraminer was exceptional!

Google
Wow! This place blew away my expectations. The food, exceptional. The wine, delightful. The portions, generous. The wait, non-existent. The views, stunning. 14/10.

Google
Fantastic winery. Has some of the highest quality wines in the area and for pretty reasonable prices. Can't wait to come back when the weather is nicer. Also the staff were so nice and friendly. They came back frequently to check in on us and kept the place clean and tidy. Really loved our visit! Update from prior review - we came back a year later and got to enjoy the patio and view and again, we had a fantastic time. This winery is a must to visit!!

Google
Enjoyed a nice afternoon sitting outside doing a lovely dry white wine tasting. You get a free Reisling bubbles glass to start & then you pick the rest! Loved the wine glasses the wine was served in. The gentlemen serving us were very nice & kept checking on us. We bought additional glasses & sat outside in the Adirondack chairs looking at the view - very nice!!

Google
Spent a few hours here with friends enjoying lunch, a few nice white wines, and the gorgeous lake view. Very pleasant and delicious! Our waitress, Maeve, was attentive and professional but never made us feel rushed in any way. Just perfect.

Google
We sat inside for a wine tasting. In retrospect, we wish we had sat outside. It seemed very formal inside. The tasting itself was disappointing. Our server simply took our sheets that indicated our wine choices. He then returned with the wines but took absoluteky no time to explain anything about the wines. He was pleasant but wholly uninformative. The wines were okay but nothing remarkable. At $15 per person for a wine tasting, it was so not worth it, based on the above. We won't be back. As an aside, we also went to Thirsty Owl. It was $5 per person and the server was far more informative ... as one would expect at a wine tasting.

Google
Highest accolades for the hospitality plus customer service and for the delicious, beautifully presented food delivered to us under the patio tent. I chose Sheldrake Point Winery for my small birthday gathering celebration because I already knew the setting overlooking Cayuga Lake is spectacular, as is the estate grown and made wine. The winery is under new ownership and hasn't missed a beat. The team impressed us and warmed my heart. They treated us all so well! Best decision to celebrate with the fine wines and staff at Sheldrake!

Yelp
We visited Sheldrake Point Winery late on a Sunday. There were a few tastings going on, and a few people in their new Bistro. We were hungry so we ordered the gourmet grilled cheese (to split) with our bottle of 2023 Pinot Gris. we headed outside to enjoy the weather and the view. How excited were we when they brought us not one, but TWO sandwiches. The chef decided to try a variation on the grilled cheese, so we got the original AND a second one and asked us for our opinion when we were done. The sandwich comes on sourdough with 3 (? - I think) cheeses and a garlic aioli. VERY good. The other sandwich was drizzled with rosemary garlic oil, and the bread was sliced thinner. This one was a home run! Delicious! We gave the chef our feedback and he was very happy. You can't beat the wines, food and the view. Definitely put this on your list.

Yelp
Delicious wine. They were able to accommodate a large group tasting. The service was great, phenomenal view and a tasty cheese board.
google avatar

James M.

Yelp
The tastings are a little expensive at 5 for $15. They produce wines that are more dry than sweet. The ice dessert wine was very good. The people are very friendly and knowledgeable.

Yelp
Incredible view if you only choose to drink a glass outside. Otherwise, your tasting happens indoors where it is loud and not aesthetically pleasing. Our particular server had no idea what was on the charcuterie board we ordered. She guessed it might include goat cheese (it definitely did not), amongst other things. Overall the wine was ok and there were a bunch of visitors-so it's clearly a hit amongst other people.

Yelp
Beautiful setting for this winery! We came up to visit and stayed on the grounds through Harvest Host. We went in for the wine tasting and had a great time. The staff was fantastic and so was the wine. We each got to sample 6 different varieties, we actually only doubled up on 2 of them, so we got to try a bunch more. We were able to sit outside for the tasting and each of the wines had a thorough description. We ended up getting four bottles (okay, 5 because we drank the first Meritage Reserve and had to go get another). The grounds are fantastic and I highly recommend a visit here.

Yelp
What a beautiful afternoon at this winery. To be honest, it wasn't the best wine I've had but it was definitely the most pleasant wine tasting experience I have had. The staff was beyond accommodating and the views of the lake are incredible. The local cheeses and olives were delicious and paired perfectly with our visit.

Yelp
Visited in October during the foliage season, this is my 3rd/4th time in Finger Lakes, but this is one of the best wineries I have visited. A few of the wines including an older vintage Cabernet Franc and their dry rieslings are some of the best I have tried in the region. They also have a modern cozy tasting room with direct access to the large lawn overlooking the Cayuga Lake. Definitely recommended!

Yelp
Perhaps our favorite experience of the Finger Lakes wineries--it is hard to beat the setting here, with a lovely, spacious tasting room offering glorious views of Seneca Lake. They don't sit back on those laurels and let the view do all their work though. From a first complimentary tasting as you walk in to the generous pours in their tasting flights (5 pours for $15, very reasonable and perhaps shareable, especially if someone is driving!), the service is excellent and the wine will flow. Really appreciated the food approach, where they had a fridge of cheeses and charcuterie you could select from to pair with your wines--they will provide the plating once you select. Was very impressed with their wine quality as well, had an excellent Acid Head Riesling along with a 2020 Cabernet Franc. Was particularly with their red tasting flight, as I understood this region to not be particularly known for its reds, but we enjoyed the ones we tried quite a bit. Overall, just a beautiful spot to visit, excellent views, excellent wines, excellent experience. There are certainly a plethora of fine options up here, but this is definitely one not to miss if at all possible. We were here in the winter, but apparently in the summer you can even arrive here by boat!

Yelp
Stopped by while our sailing due to easy access to the winery. They have in my opinion some of the best wines on Cayuga Lake and in the Finger Lakes Region. We were warmly greeted and Mia did an excellent job taking care of our party of 4. So happy to have been seated inside so we could enjoy the air conditioner. It was a hot day. Good wines, snacks for purchase and great service made this a wonderful experience. We will be back!

Yelp
While the wines weren't necessarily our favorite (personal preference) because they tended to be a bit on the drier side, Sheldrake Point has the best views of any of the wineries we visited on the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail! For a sunny Saturday in April, it was absolutely gorgeous and a perfect setting for wine tasting.

John C.

Yelp
They had a dry Riesling wine. but nothing else was impressive. The drive to get there off the main road was a little disappointing because some of the neighbors homes were rundown and had junk in the yard. The server who just moved here from Oregon was really nice guy. I was turned off that they charge $15 for a tasting while everybody else in the neighborhood that I visited was only five dollars. Certainly it was not a scenic is quite a few of the other wineries on Cayuga Lake.

Yelp
Full disclosure: I worked here for two years while doing my undergrad. I know the owner well, what a genuine and kind person. I'd say 90% of the people I worked with there in 2005-2006 are still there. That says a lot about the business. But the wine, honestly most people can't believe these reds come out of NY. It's by far the best wine on Cayuga lake, maybe even in all of NY. 10/10 recommend. And while you're there grab a bottle and head down to the beach for a sip and swim.

Yelp
We have been going up to the Finger Lakes for about 20 years now and I think Sheldrake Point Winery was the first winery we ever visited... We immediately became a club members. Their winemaker, Dave Breeden started around the same time. Dave Weinmann, the vineyard manager started in 1999. There is longevity here and it shows. Driving into this winery always reminds me of doing into a winery in NAPA. Once you park and start walking you realize just how large this property is and the incredible views from anywhere. It overlooks Cayuga Lake and you get incredible views from anywhere and they are just breathtaking. In today's world we were greeted at the entrance and escorted to our outdoor table with our masks on. Once we sat down we were able to take them off. They gave us a menu of the wines and we were able to pick a group. Which they bring out together and if you like they have cheese and meat plate to go with them. WITHOUT A DOUBT, one of my favorite wineries. All the wines are Fabulous. That doesn't mean you will enjoy everyone. Tastes vary among people which is why there is a nice selection. Find the one's you enjoy the most... sit back, relax and enjoy your glass. The team here is magnificent. A group of friendly-knowledgeable-personable people. No matter what you enjoy, make sure you try the ice wines. They are spectacular. They are always happy to answer any questions you have on the wines and also the proper food pairing. I cannot recommend Sheldrake Point enough. Come her and try... you'll agree.

Yelp
Well, I have always loved their wine. However, i had a firmly below mid experience at this institution. The front manager lady did not let us sit inside even though it was almost below freezing and almost snowing outside (yes, it gets very cold in May still). As a result, half of us felt like we got frostbite. Do not come here. Unlucky.

Kathleen W.

Yelp
We look forward to visiting this vineyard frequently. This visit was so splendid and comfortable. Our table server was a young lady who is going to college and just joined the winery a few weeks ago. Her pleasantries and enthusiasm were infectious and we so enjoyed yet another visit. Great job Sheldrake!! Above and beyond with the numerous wines we tasted and comfortably placed in our vehicle. See you soon

Yelp
Sheldrake Point Winery was a gorgeous vineyard along the Cayuga Wine Trail. It was our first of four wineries on a muggy Monday. We pulled up to Sheldrake at 12:40 unaware that they only offer wine tasting by reservation. Luckily they had an opening for us at 1:00 so we only had to entertain ourselves for 20 minutes. Even more luckily, we had brought a cooler to make sandwiches at some point, so we decided to eat before we drank. By the time we were done with our early lunch, it was wine o'clock. The vineyard is beautifully kept with well-maintained lawns and vines and an absolutely breathtaking view of Cayuga lake. Due to the coronavirus, they weren't offering indoor seating but had plenty of outdoor seating with tents and fans. Our waitress was nice. She brought out tall glasses of refreshing cool water while our wine was poured inside and brought out to our table. Sheldrake offered three types of flights: a Riesling flight, a red and white combo flight, and an all-red flight. I love sweet wines so I went with the Riesling one. The wines were refreshing and cool, but mostly a little too dry for my liking. This is a personal preference and does not impact my review of the winery at all. My sister, a fan of dryer wines, enjoyed many of her 6-flight options. The vineyard mandated that we order some sort of snack as part of Governor Cuomo's bar regulation. As per Governor Cuomo's rules, chips and other little dollar food stuffs aren't considered "food" when drinking. Sheldrake had no regard for the law and had us purchase a small bag of oyster crackers for a buck each. Had we known, we would have ate our sandwiches at the table and saved the hassle. This was the only negative we experienced.

Yelp
I highly recommend visiting this vineyard. Beautiful view of Cayuga Lake from their outdoor terrace. I recommend the all-cheese assortment you may order at the wine-tasting counter. It included 5 varieties of local cheeses, all of which were good; one was a creamy goat cheese, the others were aged hard cheeses. The box included maple pepitas, onion jam, apple jam, pickle slices and one other very spicy pickled item that looked like hot peppers. We bought a box of stone ground wheat crackers in their gift shop and enjoyed our snacks outdoors in their lovely garden, with lake view. They also offer a cheese-charcuterie combination box. I enjoyed my cheese box, which was MORE than enough for two people, with a glass of 2016 Gewurztraminer. This wine is fruity and is not sparkling. I recommend it. My husband and I tasted a red wine called Sheldrake Meritage which tasted to me like a good Bordeaux. Both of us liked this wine. They don't have a huge assortment of gifts in their gift shop but they do have an interesting collection, and I bought several gifts there. Live music in the summer on Saturdays from 2-5.

Damian R.

Yelp
A wise man once said, drink what you like. In this region, they have more reds that are fine drinking than any other I have visited thus far and an absolute delight to sip. It's still hard to believe they harvest reds and create these wines that far north, but they have figured it out. Really enjoyed our time here and will be back. Oh, and did I talk about the water view? Spectacular.

Yelp
Off the beaten path a bit, but fun place that has more of a relaxed vibe to it. I really liked that they offered meat and cheese (to purchase) to accompany your tastings, as a lot of other stops lacked in that department. This place seemed accessible by camper or boat, for those with that desire.

Yelp
Can you spend $100 on iced wine?! YES, i did and it's worth it! The wines at Sheldrake are a bit on the sweeter side - Rieslings, Chardonnay, and Iced Wines! If you come to the Finger Lakes, you must try the iced wines here. The Cab Franc and Apple iced wines are good, a couple of sips of the syrupy grape juice is just enough with residual sugar of 27% residual sugar. I've never had wine with such high sugar content. More than 2%, I can taste it, let alone 27%. The Lucky Stone White & Red were my favorites, semi-sweet and well-balanced (more on the 2% residual sugar side). I bought a bottle of each. The real kicker here is the 2012 Wild Ferment Riesling. It's an extra $5 for a tasting and the fee is waived if you spend $100. I bought a bottle, it's a novelty to be savored on a special occasion. The service is friendly and the staff takes their time to pour and explain the wine. They don't rush you out. Although the winery looks like it's near the lake, there are no lakeside views from the tasting room. There is some outdoor and indoor seating. Overall, I had a great experience and tasted some really delicious unique wines. $160 well spent.

Yelp
We really enjoyed this winery! Had a tasting with a very friendly and knowledgeable server. Tasting was good, and there were a couple of surprisingly good reds. Our favorite white was the Pinot Gris and we also liked the Cab Franc Rose. There is some great outdoor seating.
google avatar

Yelp
A very relaxing and cute winery. There are 6 wine tasting choices (5 tasting glasses). The outdoor picnic tables are nice but you can do the wine tasting indoor as well. They serve you cold water along with your $12 wine tasting. Cheese & crackers are available for purchase. Our wine host was friendly & helpful. We enjoyed our wine tasting experience.

Yelp
What a beautiful locale and wonderful wine selection. The staff was pleasant and knowledgeable of their wines. The winery wasn't crowed and we had a quite visit.

Yelp
Wow our tasting was absolutely incredible. Such a fun day with friends. We will definitely be back. So happy to have found this place!

Yelp
Great finger lakes winery. I was especially surprised by the quality of their red wines. Very good Pinot Noir and the best Merlot I have ever had.
google avatar

Ting Z.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite wineries on Cayuga lake for the simple reason that they have really good wines. Of special note are their Cabernet franc and Gewurztraminer. Cabernet franc is their top varietal and it's a really nice medium bodied wine, well-rounded. Their Gewurztraminer is one of the most fragrant, aromatic wines I've had, and it's delicious despite not being one of the grapes they specialize in. The location is gorgeous as well, right next to the lake and it's a great place to go with family/friends. The only drawback is that it's a bit more expensive than a lot of the other wineries nearby but if you're just planning on doing tastings and aren't really planning on purchasing any wines, then it's not an issue. They've got some pretty cool experimental wines too.
google avatar

Mikhail V.

Yelp
Not my wines. I have to admit I was expecting more from the winery in terms of wines but I have to give them credit for the organization. The winery I would think is probably one of the best I've seen on Cayuga but again. Not my wines. I found them to be too bitter for my taste though the bouquet of most of their Rieslings was very nice. The winery has a large spacious tasting room and fairly knowledgeable staff but come and taste before you make a decision. We passed this time. May be next time it will work out better.
google avatar

Lorraine H.

Yelp
There were 12 of us split up into groups of 6 for the wine tastings on Saturday 6/27/2020. From the reservation system to check-in and wine tasting options (by the glass or bottles and soon flights again), everything went smoothly. We chose here because of the selection and quality. Everything was tasty! We would definitely go back! Thank you, Christine!
google avatar

Yan T.

Yelp
No disrespect to Sheldrake, but I was a bit more impressed with this winery last time I was here (many years ago). The tasting room was empty (it was Monday morning, to be fair), and the lady in the tasting room was friendly. The tasting fee was reasonable, though much higher than other area wineries. I wasn't blown away by any of the chief vinifera varietals they were pouring. Interestingly, the wine I liked most was the Table Red recommended by the aforementioned tasting room lady. Looks like they're doing things by the numbers here these days, so while the wine still has integrity, there are more interesting up-and-coming wineries in the region worth a visit. If you do go, try the dessert wines, their current claim to fame.

Andrew T.

Yelp
Wonderful visit just as grapes were being picked. The Ice Wine is delicious! I really like their Riesling.
google avatar

Lauren S.

Yelp
I thought they had some nice iced wines, but they were a bit pricier than the average. Nice view of the lake and nicely landscaped.

Joseph F.

Yelp
CHRIS made our experience very enjoyable as he was incredibly kind, patient, and knowledgeable (he deserves 10 stars). He made great wine recommendations for us and because of him we bought a few bottles. He explained how their wine making process is an art and how they experiment to make new/unique wines. Another male colleague was a little touchy with my wife's shoulders, which is weird/rude. While I did not want to note this because Chris was so awesome, it's something that should not be done.
google avatar

Tyler H.

Yelp
A very picturesque setting on Cayuga Lake, Sheldrake Point Winery is a little out-of-the-way (a mile or two off of 89), but worth the trip. The winery's grounds are immaculate, and the commanding view of the lake impresses. Inside, the facility is bright and cheery, with a wine bar staffed by knowledgable tasting guides. The wine itself is very good -- the whites moreso than the reds, a theme among Finger Lakes wineries. Tasting fees are $2 for the regular flight, with reserve and dessert wines available on a pay-per-pour basis. All in all, the wine's enough to get me to want to come back to taste the food (alas, we'd stopped for lunch on the way out).
google avatar

PJ C.

Yelp
This was our third stop on a dreary, damp Saturday that was part of the Bacon on the Lake-in wine tour promo on Cayuga Lake. Since this was more about the bacon infused dishes than the wine - I will comment on the bacon dish served here. This place rocked since they served the Elvis sandwich - think grilled cheese without the cheese but with bacon, banana and peanut butter instead - awesome! The dessert wine they served with it was a nice pairing (hey, it's all relative!). The owner and the wine pourer were super friendly. We'll have to come back when their gardens are in bloom and we can enjoy the view of the lake.

Amy C.

Yelp
Beautiful location and great wines! I'm always happy when I find good red wines in the Finger Lakes.

Eric H.

Yelp
We did the Vintage Room tasting. It was an awesome experience. Mia did a wonderful job. We were greeted with a welcome wine while we picked from a few options of flights. I went with the 2007 vintage wines while my wife and son went with the vintage red wines. We tasted wines that were up to 20 years old. It was a great experience to see how the wines age. While it was not meant to be truly private, we were the only ones. Would highly recommend that more people do this tasting. Definitely worth the money. Thanks Mia

Yelp
Waited in an empty store for 15 mins and the two girls that were there didn't serve us. The girl with the red hair checked our IDs and then the brunette with glasses told her not to serve us 5 mins later. We literally did not do anything expect wait there waiting to be served. I don't know what we did wrong but I do not appreciate being ignored and certainly not a winery I plan on coming back too. Super unprofessional and rude. The least they could have done was come and told us why we weren't being served. I'm not going to be mad at them for being honest but ignoring us and talking about us in front of us is a big turn off. Train your workers or hire better ones.

Yelp
Beautiful setting, knowledgeable and friendly staff-liked the different wine tasting options, an enjoyable experience- recommend

Yelp
Overlooking Cayuga lake, it's right off the main road, but conveniently located along the wine trail. The tasting room was bright, had two friendly cats to keep us company and the service was great. It wasn't too crowded when we arrived, but we were helped right away. The staff were friendly, educated us about the wines and let us enjoy our tastings. It was a great option along the wine trail! There were ice wines, dessert wines and red and white. I felt there was a variety for everyone as I like drier wines while my boyfriend likes very sweet wines. We enjoyed our tasting!

Yelp
We were here as part Of the "experience! tour" great atmosphere! The owner was very knowledgeable and so friendly. I loved the views and the wines were pretty tasty! I would definitely recommend this for a stop in the fingerlakes!
google avatar

Yelp
A great vineyard with really good wine. Really good wine by all standards not just for the region! Must visit if in the finger lakes. Nice outdoor space too.
google avatar

Caitlyn C.

Yelp
Sheldrake Point Winery was our first stop in the fingerlakes region. It was within walking distance of our Airbnb. The wines are excellent quality and affordable prices. The staff is incredibly friendly and informative, even for a novice like myself. They do $5 tastings for any 4 of their non reserve wines. The tasting room is also quite large so even with a big group, we didn't feel crowded or overlooked. I was very satisfied with the experience here.
google avatar

Kirsten K.

Yelp
It costs money to taste the ice wine. Try it! It's worth the experience. Excellent ice wine! Great to take home for a special evening or event with family. Treat yourself it was the best tasting ice wine in the area.

Yelp
Stunning views, excellent dry wines, yummy cheese plates and great outdoor seating! Highly recommend! We make sure to visit every time we're in FLX.

Yelp
By far my least liked winery on my 3 day wine tour on the trail. Granted, I was at some absolutely fantastic wineries but I have categorized Sheldrake in my mind with the pedestrian wineries down in Virigina. And I am not talking about Shenandoah Valley either. Firstly for what I found to be lackluster wine. After the tasting I found their wines to be generally less desirable than any other wineries I have been to. Secondly, the place was completely empty on a Saturday afternoon. That should have been a sign to turn around and leave. And lastly, to put it in an unabrasive way - the ambivalent service at it's best. The two girls running the place showed significantly more interest in doodling on their chalkboard than host a tasting. Several long moments went by after walking in before we were finally greeted. More uncomfortable waits when the girl who greeted us decided to make small talk mid-sentenced with us to question the other girl regarding her chalk designs. When she finally got around her busy schedule and decided to grace us with an offer to taste the wines she essentially just pour a tiny sip of the wines we requested and stood there waiting for us to finish. Never offering any sort of descriptions or how each wine is unique to the winery. It felt entirely awkward and unlike all other wineries in the area. At one point I almost felt as if I was being expected to tell her about the wines. So when the tasting was over we found there was nothing to do but walk out.

Kelly R.

Yelp
It's amazing how Sheldrake has declined over the past few years. Today's visit was such a disappointment. This was our first stop because we've always enjoyed it in the past. The staff are so rude now! The only friendly guy was the trainee. Their restaurant has closed so the majority of the tasting room is vacant. We had always had such an enjoyable experience at Sheldrake, until today. It's really a shame. The meritage wine wasn't full bodied, rather thin and flat. The 2012 Riesling was decent. Very crisp, slight citrus. The 2013 Riesling was very dry and unappealing. Overall, very disappointed.

Yelp
Sheldrake Point Winery is the most scenic winery on Cayuga Lake. Its a great facility for a wine tasting or even for a wedding. I attended a wedding at Sheldrake Point and it was absolutely amazing. Great views for the ceremony, delicious food and a very fun/casual environment for dancing. I loved it! As for the wine, its one of the better examples of Cayuga Lake wine. They are surprisingly good for red wines (incl. Cab Franc and Gamay) and dessert wines (incl. late harvest Riesling).

Yelp
Went here with my daughter and husband 2 summers ago and I have to say that this was the prettiest winery we visited. We also sat outside and had a long, leisurely lunch. It was a beautiful sunny day and we had a view of the lake - Cayuga Lake. I would love to return here, it was THAT good.
