Shelton Vineyards

We had our wedding reception at the Farm House at Shelton Vineyards, and it was absolutely perfect. We got married at a different location nearby that was special to our family, and Jennie made the transition to the reception so easy. She was incredibly kind and helpful, and really took the time to understand our vision for the evening. The food, catered by the Harvest Grill on-site, was amazing—our guests are still talking about it! There were so many great options to choose from, and everything was delicious. The setting is stunning. We caught golden hour and got the most beautiful photos with the vineyard in the background. It was such a peaceful and gorgeous space to celebrate. I’m so glad we chose the Farm House and I highly recommend it for any special event!

First time here and it was to pick up for my job. I would have loved to have toured the grounds. But a piece of crap Google maps took me on a 3.5 hour drive to get there. Actual drive 1.20 hours once I got there and realized where I was. It is a beautiful place supporting NC and happy valley filling station in Lenoir. Check it out. It's beautiful 😍❤️

Our anniversary visit to Shelton Vineyards was absolutely amazing!!! The grounds are beautiful. The tasting room and shop were great and had a wealth of “wine finds” to add to my collection. The entire staff was warm and welcoming from the time we walked in the door and Cindy was the absolute best in the tasting room!!!

My husband and I ran the Shelton Vineyards “Running the Vines” 5K last weekend. The race was extremely well organized and it was a wonderful post-race celebration. It was our first visit to Shelton Vineyards but it definitely won’t be our last!

This is a beautiful and very large vineyard. They also have a pond with huge carp and catfish. You can sit under the trees and enjoy your wine and views.

This was an excellent surprise. We were driving from NY back home to GA and it was a great halfway point. Great wine bar and we stayed an extra day and enjoyed the Winery.

This was our second time visiting, and we still really enjoyed it. The setting is beautiful — such a nice, scenic landscape. It was pretty busy when we got there and most tables were taken, but we lucked out when one opened up. The wines were decent, and I liked that they offered both 1oz and 2oz tasting pours. Definitely a bigger, more popular spot compared to some of the smaller local wineries, but it still has a nice atmosphere.

Very nice winery with grounds that are gorgeous, especially if you want to bring your own food for an outdoor picnic. They have beautiful trees, water features all around with plenty of outdoor seating and live music. The inside has a large enough tasting area if you wanted to be inside. The wine itself was delicious.

Shelton is absolutely beautiful with pond, creek, trails, tables in the shade and gorgeous landscaping. The tasting room has some unique gift items -- & I tht I had seen it all, but they have novelty worth the visit. The wines I tasted were fantastic and I purchased some along with a cute dishtowel. I have sampled wines nationwide and these were consistently exceptional.

Always a great experience at Shelton! I absolutely love the wines! On this visit, they had an Irish band playing, which was a treat! I also very much enjoy looking around the shop. They always have so much cool stuff! I'm looking forward to my next visit to Shelton! The tasting room manager, Derek is the bomb!

So happy to have found this winery. Their Cab Franc was mellow but wow ..complex and beautiful. We bought a bottle of their port since we could taste the chocolate, black cherry and toffee notes. Not only did we buy some bottles but we became members! This place is so beautiful. The grounds are peaceful and well kept. Can't wait to come back, enjoy live music and picnic here. Thanks Cindy for taking care of us.

I honestly have no words. The best winery I've been to in NC hands down. It's so beautiful and picturesque. All the white wines were amazing. It's not the typical muscadine grape NC winery. There is also a restaurant on site. We came for an anniversary celebration and it was so perfect. Tamara was literally everything. Our tasting was so customized . I'm coming back in Sept with friends. Somebody put this place on TV. It's the best!!!

This has taken the place of my favorite vineyard in NC! Tamara was our tour guide, and she did an amazing job. It's always a pleasure to have a guide who enjoys the wine as much as the participants. She was very knowledgeable and friendly to us. If you visit, do the private cellar tour, you will not be disappointed. I plan on making this place a monthly visit. Can't wait to come back!

We visited the winery building the first time we went, it was FANTASTIC, unpretentious, helpful, comfortable seating, but limited food items, which is fine. We purchased 6 bottles 2 in winery, & 4 to take home. We visited again & decided to go to their "grill" restaurant, majorly disappointing. They were out of menu items & pushing a $45 steak. With the elevated menu prices we purchased a bottle for the table & none for the house. We were not hungry for a large meal, we were hoping for a burger, salad, or something not overfilling. The staff was nice. Dropping to negative stars because I think the peppered salami was rancid and made my husband sick.

Gorgeous day today to visit Shelton Vineyards. We walked the area and enjoyed the trails and lakes. They have many beautiful areas to sit at and enjoy the views. This is a spectacular location and relaxing. We ate at the grill and loved the roaring fire behind us. The view was lovely on the patio. I ordered the burger with pimento cheese. This came with pasta and Gouda cheese. YUM. The burger was cooked the way I like but I was underwhelmed with the taste. The bun was over cooked and the burger was not flavorful or juicy. I also wanted more zing with the pimento cheese. For the price of $17.00 I expected more. Our server was amazing. She was so friendly and bubbly. I loved her enthusiasm. Between her and the winery is why I'm giving a 5 star today. The gift shop is a must. It's full of great gift ideas and beautiful goodies. I love this winery and its location and can't wait to return.

I honestly can't say enough good things about Shelton. Our pourer, Cindy, was friendly and extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The tasting room is great and there are tons of excellent seating places inside and out. The grounds are beautiful and there is a large pond with some bridges and walking paths. Cindy gave us a couple of bags of fish food and we took it to one of the bridges and saw a lot of hungry catfish eat it up. All of the wines we tried were delicious and the price point was extremely reasonable. We thought this was such a great place we got a membership and look forward to coming back and sharing the experience with friends. We came away with a couple of bottles and I am looking forward to opening them.

Food and service is always amazing! The vineyard has a nice rolling entrance with character.

We had a fantastic day at Shelton Vineyards! Started the day with a tour, inside and out. I can't remember our guide's name, but he does all kinds of jobs at the winery. He was awesome, and knowledgeable. Very interesting, and included info about the Shelton family. We then had a Grand Tasting in the "cave". Everything was beautiful and delicious. This tasting included 9 wines and charcuterie. We came back later for dinner. Again, everything was delicious. Our waiter, Benson, was calm, efficient, and polite. We had a group of 20, and that was no easy task. He even drove us back to the Hampton Inn where we were staying. When have you ever gone to a restaurant and had your waiter drive you home‽ A terrific day at Shelton Vinyard!

Shelton Vineyards has beautiful grounds and plenty of parking. Customer Service is lacking though. I went to the winery building to get a ticket for a tour and couldn't get anyone to acknowledge me. I was planning to purchase some wine for gifts but they didn't want my business.

After a delicious meal at Harvest Grill, we spent the afternoon sipping wine at Shelton Vineyard. Although it was gorgeous outside it was just cold enough that my group wanted to remain indoors. We perused the gift shop first and were amused by the clever sayings on some of the dish towels. They had truffles and small charcuterie boards for sale in addition to the merchandise. As an NC State alumni it was cool to see that Shelton had partnered with NC State to create a red blend wine which was on display. Our server was really cool and patient as we explored the wine menu. I decided to stick with red wine since that's what I had at brunch, but I upped the ante by ordering from the list of reserves. I did go a little off brand by adding a rosé and a port. The other wines that I ordered were the 259 Malbec and 259 Petit Verdot. I forget the fifth one I ordered. Of the five the Petit Verdot was my favorite.  The "trees" they use for flights of wine are so cute! It also allows the servers to place the wine in descending order so you start from the top and work your way down. I appreciated the thoughtful touch of including oyster crackers as palete cleansers and a piece of dark chocolate for my glass of port. There was live music which added a nice touch to the ambiance. He was just the right volume and would literally play any requests from his list of songs. Overall I really enjoyed my afternoon at Shelton and look forward to returning some day.

First time visiting Shelton Vineyards! We had a wonderful experience in the Grande Tasting with Tamara! She was so knowledgeable. The vineyard has a lovely story. We enjoyed several wines in the tasting menu and Tamara learned our palates quickly and offered a couple other wines to taste. Jennie, the Director of Estate Hospitality, also made us feel so welcome and happy to be there! We will definitely go back to enjoy their one of the concert series events this year!

The grounds of this place are really very beautiful, and I've heard the restaurant is great, but unfortunately we didn't get to try it. The tasting bar is standing room only, but they do have a couple of tables you can bring your flight over to if you choose. The service was good, but they don't really teach you anything about the wines while you are there, not to mentions the wines were really not very good. They had a live musician while we were there who was great. Overall, this place would be a pass for me when choosing wineries in this area.

Beautiful setting, super friendly professional staff serving a wine flight as fancy as I've ever seen. We brought our own charcuterie which was really nice to be able to do. Other than gnats galore the outdoor patio seating was awesome. I would recommend if you are anywhere near Shelton Vineyards you put this stop on your wine trail map. My first visit, but we will be back. The wines we tried were some of the best reds we had in Yadkin Valley.

We just completed the Sweetheart Cupid tasting. What an enjoyable experience! Derricks knowledge of the wines and pairings was so beneficial even to old timers like us! We love Shelton, have been members for years and think of everyone there as family.

We drove 90 minutes from Charlotte to check out this vineyard. The restaurant experience was okay. Our server Adrienne was fantastic and got us everything we needed. We ordered the duck wings appetizer and they only gave us 5 out of the 6 wings it was supposed to come with. Adrienne corrected this issue thankfully. We ordered the Shelton prime sandwich and the Dijon chicken pasta. Both tasted okay, but definitely lacked seasoning and enough sauce. The red velvet cheesecake dessert was the best part of the meal. Vineyard experience- the wine flight was great! Loved the quality and variety of the wines here! We bought 3 bottles. The ambience was beautiful and we definitely enjoyed taking pictures outside by the lake and indoors. I would return and give the food another chance since everything else was satisfactory.

The scenery, food and service were wonderful. Highly recommend their Cab. We will be back!

Best birthday EVER celebrating my birthday having a grand wine tasting at Shelton Vineyards. As we entered their open gate and meandered slowly down their road surrounded by their vineyards, my family and I were immediately impressed with the landscape and were excited to taste their wines. We had a FABULOUS tasting experience in their gazebo with the backdrop of the vineyards all around us. We TRULY ENJOYED their wine selection and I loved their Dry and Sparkling Riesling and Bourbon Barrel Chardonnay; and from their red wine selection LOVED LOVED the Tannat and Claret. It's a MUST SEE and TASTE vineyard if you're visiting around the area of Charlotte or Winston-Salem and my only disappointment is not knowing about Shelton Vineyards sooner!! Will definitely visit Shelton Vineyards again and order more of my favorite wines!!!

Brought my mom for Mother's Day. Had a nice lunch at the grill, then sat at the winery outside patio for live music where Cory took care of us. We really enjoyed our day, especially our server Cory who was extremely friendly, helpful & kind. if you enjoy sweet wine, have the blackberry! It's delicious. My mom enjoyed the red blend Cabernet Franc

I loved Shelton for the many flight options and that they give free tours to see the wine making process. Our tour guide was nice and we enjoyed the outside area with fire pits and heating lamps in February.

Shelton Vineyards is a really nice winery! They have a good selection of wines to choose from if you decide to do a wine tasting. They also have really picturesque views for taking pictures and gazing at when drinking wine there. They also have a restaurant named Harvest Grill, where you can eat at before you do your tasting, or while you are doing your tasting. A definite visit if you are in Dobson, NC!

Beautiful location. Great selection of wines, along with tastings. Offer plenty of snacks and accessories. There is also a restaurant on property. We have not tried.....yet

Went to the vineyard for lunch on a beautiful fall day. The vineyards and grounds were absolutely breathtaking with the ponds, trees, and trails. Five of us had lunch at the Harvest Grill, (I recommend a reservation) it was lovely with the fireplace roaring. We ordered a BLT&P which was delicious but the pimento cheese needed to have a little more flavor/something or maybe just more pimento for me, but it still was a delicious sandwich. Three of us ordered the burger and it looked picture worthy but it lacked the juicy beefy taste I was expecting. The bun would have been better if it wasn't grilled so long because it was dry and fell apart. One bun was grilled a little too long. I had to add mustard and mayo to add something moist to the burger, for me to dry. I also wished the burger was the size of the bun. Unfortunately it was somewhat disappointing. The fry's were very tasty and the mac-n-cheese was outstanding. We had the poached pear salad, it was excellent, fresh and delicious. The pesto chicken flatbread was also very tasty. What was memorable was the apple cobbler with ice cream and the pound cake with cherries, definitely do try a dessert. The restaurant was so charming, clean, beautiful table settings and our server was an absolute delight. All in all we had a wonderful experience, a beautiful afternoon at the vineyard and enjoyed the gorgeous walking paths. Our lunch was good but underwhelming, however the time spent with family at the vineyard was priceless so I recommend you go.

Excellent Excellent Excellent From the friendly staff that made us feel so welcomed, to the stunning grounds where u can walk around and take the most stunning pictures. What a place! I was taking aback by the wine list when I did my tasting as I'm a white dry drinker&there werent many on the list,but......SAUVIGNON BLANC IS A SHOW STOPPER!!!WOW. HAD TO BUY A BOTTLE TO BRING BACK HOME. The merlot was equally delicious, and for a girl who doesnt drink red that says alot. I will definitely come back here my next visit, again the staff were more like old friends to chat with, they were so nice.

Wonderful tour and tasting. Tamera our hostess did an amazing job sharing wines and discussing their flavors/tastes. The tasting was held in the Farmhouse which had beautiful views of the vineyard. We finished off our visit with lunch at the restaurant. Amazing food and of course wine. I highly recommend this restaurant and vineyard!!

Looking for a California wine experience in the middle of Muscadine country?? Look no further! This place is absolutely gorgeous with white, red, sparkling, sweet and port wines. The wines were VERY affordable and DELICIOUS!! I am a California wine snob and this is a drive rather than a plane ride I will continue to make. We had exceptional service from our pourer. I can't wait to return to try the restaurant!!

Beautiful property with lots going on. Popped in for a wine tasting and the ladies behind the counter were so nice. My one piece of constructive feedback was that they needed more staff training for them. They had very little knowledge and kept asking if we had questions to email or call the property Somm. They were both so lovely and great personalities but give them the tools! Had a small bite to eat in the nicely set up picnic area, thank you for providing that. Looked like they have some great music concert series but it was a Friday so it seemed as if we had the place to ourselves.

The ambiance is wonderful with beautiful gardens. The wine is excellent; perhaps not Napa Valley but close with pricing far more reasonable. The restaurant on the grounds is first class. Whether you want to picnic with some wine on the grounds or top off a tasting with a gourmet meal this vineyard fills your glass!

We had a great experience! Came on a Tuesday in June. $20 for a flight of 5 wines. Nice selection of white/red and dry/sweet. Best part was the outdoor seating areas so we could enjoy our wine in the nice weather.

The food was excellent. Service was polite and on time. Ambiance was excellent. Plan to make Shelton my Valentines experience next year.

Shelton did not disappoint. Since it was a Monday, we were able to have our pick of seats. It was as if had the place to ourselves although there were a few other people at the location. The flights are awesome. Not only do they come in a cool presentation but they are delicious. The Reserve list is $35 and the regular list is $20. Both flights get you 5 samples. This worked out perfect for me since the reds on the Reserve list had 6 choices. 1 choice was sold out and 1 choice was a port. Since I don't drink ports I chose all 5 of the other reds. I am not an experienced wine drinker to explain the different my nuances between the reds but I can tell you they were all very tasty. I did like the 20th anniversary red enough to buy a bottle. It was on the light end of the spectrum compared to the other reds. The bourbon barrel red was also excellent. Thanks Shelton for a fun day of day drinking.

Cabernet franc is delicious! Not sweet, dry with a light velvety, smooth taste. I highly recommend.

Jennie was great. Very knowledgeable about the wines and a great host. The wines were great and the winery is very beautiful. The website pictures of the winery don't do it justice. Definitely worth the visit.

Visited Shelton Winery today. The 6 of us had a wonderful time! Always great to see Travis Dale who always makes us feel right at home. Did a tasting, tour, dinner and spent 3 nights at the Hampton which is a great central location for all the wineries in the area. We took in a concert by the Swinging Medallions who were excellent. All details were covered! Don't miss this winery!

Great winery. As soon as you walk in you're greeted. They provide the specials they have on wine. They explain about how the wine tastings go. $10 for 5 wine tastings. You get a free wine glass. So not bad because it's $2 per tasting and $5 glass included. All of the wines I tried we're good. I went with the Cab Franc, Riesling and a couple others. The estate is large and has a lot of space. Everyone was knowledgeable and nice.

Beautiful grounds, great wines. if you have a few hours, I highly recommend the Grand Tour & Tasting. Derek did a great job with the tour of the building and vineyard, history of Shelton and wines in general. It was a great interactive learning experience.

While the wine is good, the ambiance is a little lacking. Other nearby wineries have more beautiful surroundings. No matter where we sit, I seem to be looking at a parking lot. My biggest concern, however, is the bad treatment we received. We asked for a bottle of sparkling sangria and the young lady opened and spilled a fair amount. She left for a moment, we expected her to return with a new bottle- no. She handed us the partial bottle. We asked if we could have a different bottle and she gave us so much attitude! She walked over to gossip with her coworkers. I told the manager ( yes, I guess I'm a Karen) and he asked- did you get a new bottle? That was it! We're spending a couple hundred dollars here. Serre and Round Peak were much more enjoyable experiences.

Shelton vineyards is the real deal! We LOVED the grounds and all their wine is amazing! We did a reserve tasting which included a very large wine glass. We ended up buying a case and joining the wine club, everything was so good! I loved the Malbec and the rose, my favorite wine in yadkin valley for sure!

This was mid September when weather was perfect on a Sunday afternoon with my family. It was about 15 of us wanting to enjoy a very special surprise along with some fresh wine. It was the day I proposed to my beautiful fiancé. The wine was good and so was the bartenders except for the manager or part owner not sure. First we arrived an hour before the restaurant closed and declined service to us because we had no reservation. We decided to just wait till after we left to eat. We enjoyed some tasty wine and toke two cases of bottles home for the members who attended. Almost $1000 spent that day for the manager to kick us out at the very end blowing us the horn that we had to leave. Super rude. Will take our business elsewhere and do not recommend.

We were in town for the Running of the Vines 5K. It is our second time attending this race. We just love it and love the vineyards. Our first visit we took advantage of the hayride tour which covered all of the vineyard and our driver shared all kinds of facts about the property and owners. Very informative! We took part in a tasting and enjoyed trying all of their wines. We settled on our two favorites and bought a bottle of each. They also had an afternoon concert and an evening concert. Both were a lot of fun! The afternoon one was much more relaxing. We danced a lot at the evening concert by The Breakfast Club. A good time was had by all!

I was worried that Shelton was more hype than quality but I was definitely mistaken. I was impressed with some of their lower priced reds and the quality. The reserve wines are also excellent and definitely worth the money. The grounds are beautiful and we especially enjoyed their wine slushies during the summer. Although I am still a big fan of the smaller scale, local vineyards- I have to say, I really did enjoy my visit to Shelton and am planning on returning.

We went to Shelton Winery after a 9 hour drive from NY. We went to the Harvest Grill, had a terrific waitress (Cianna), who couldn't have been more sweet or informative. She answered every question we had, not only about the winery, food & wine, but also about the area & gave us directions on how to avoid the morning traffic. We say on the Patio overlookin the creek/pond & winery. It was quie & calming, just what we needed coming off the road. Our meal was delicious both in taste and preparation. We had a bottle of the unoaked Bin 17 Chardonnay & it was good enough to take one to go to give to our friends at our next stop. The meal also included warm, buttery & flaky rolls along with a late of cheese spread, butter & jam that was a perfect complimen. Lastly, the Manager stopped by our tabl to see if there was anything else he could do for us.

What a great crowd. Knowledgeable staff, great music on the terrace, and excellent wines! Beautiful vineyard, we will definitely be back!
