Clearwater Beach, Florida, Gets 360 Days of Sunshine a Year — How to Plan the Perfect Visit

"If you're looking for late-night entertainment, Shephard’s Beach Resort has two venues open to the public and overlooking the white-sand beaches. Tiki Beach Bar & Grill lines up daily live music on their concert stage right on the water until 1:30 a.m. on weekends. Wave Nightclub offers two levels of pumping DJ set lists surrounded by a laser show to dance the night away, or at least until 2:30 a.m. on weekends." - Travel + Leisure Editors

We were guests at the resort for 2 nights for a family wedding. My husband and I and our two children. After hearing such great things about the place, we were excited to experience a laid back resort, but it was anything but. I wish that when I booked the room with children, someone would have told me that the resort turns into a nightclub where you literally have to get id’d and a wristband on just so you can be there past a certain time. My children had been playing on the beach after the wedding that ended at 9pm and decided they were hungry, so we took them across the street to grab something. Upon returning, I was stopped by a woman that I believe was a housekeeper based off of her attire, and pointed out to a man wearing a security shirt. I was questioned why I wasn’t wearing my Shepards wristband, to which I told them that I removed it because I didn’t want to wear it to the wedding. Then they were asking me where I was taking my kids. I’m sorry, but I’m a guest that is paying to stay at the resort and paid RESORT FEES, and I’m going to be told that I can’t utilize the space because I have children? I was never told upon check in that the space outside becomes 21 and over after a certain time. When we’re on vacation, my children don’t go to bed ant their usual time. We like to explore and we were trying to visit with long distance relatives. Since I was given the feeling that we weren’t welcome to stay there, we took the kids back to the room, but I’m not sure that was any better. I had opted for an island view room and it was very noisy til about 3am. Cars and motorcycles up and down the strip, people walking on the sidewalk screaming. Not a pleasant nights sleep for anyone. In the morning we went down to the pool, but needed new wristbands since we had removed ours for the wedding. The woman at the front wanted me to give her my old bands. I did not save them, nor was I told that I needed to do so. At check in, they said if you need new bands, please let us know, not please save your bands to acquire new ones. We were glad to leave, but of course there was a lack of detail on my bill when I had first booked the room, so I called to question it and was placed on hold for 20 mins. Anytime I had walked past that front desk, there was never a line, so I’m not sure why I was on hold for so long? Only to be told that I needed to talk to a woman that apparently not everyone there knows because when I had called back to ask for her, I was told that she didn’t exist. This was our first time to Clearwater and I loved the area, but I think we will be staying somewhere that my entire family feels welcomed.

Disappointing Stay at Shepard's Beach Resort I stayed in a Queen Studio, but upon arrival, it was immediately clear that the beds were not queens—they were doubles. I sleep in a queen every night and know the difference. To make matters worse, the headboard was visibly wider than the mattress by several inches, (see pic) further confirming the issue. When I called the front desk to clarify, they insisted that "they don't have doubles," essentially gaslighting me instead of addressing the discrepancy. The room itself had some decent amenities, but it clearly needed maintenance and attention to detail. For a resort that markets itself as upscale, there were far too many small things falling apart or neglected. We chose this location for a family vacation, only to find that most of the bars and restaurants were closed for much of the week, with no notice or transparency about it in advance. When they were open, they enforced an age limit after 9pm, which completely goes against the idea of it being "family-friendly." Another thing worth noting: while there is a beach, guests are not allowed to bring their own towels, drinks, food, or even a small cooler. So although the room rates may seem reasonable at first, the resort forces you to purchase all of their food and beverages on-site, which adds up quickly and makes the stay far less affordable than it appears. Security staff were also incredibly rude and dismissive. My sister tried to join us on the beach with her young children after 9pm and was treated as if she was trying to sneak into a private party—despite being our guest and simply wanting to spend time with family. I later spoke to another vacationer who had a similar negative experience with security on a previous visit, and was told the staff had supposedly been replaced. Sadly, it seems the problem persists. Between the false advertising, lack of hospitality, and overall disrespect toward guests, I will not be returning to Shepard’s Beach Resort—and I wouldn't recommend it to others, especially if you're traveling with family or expect basic honesty and professionalism from staff.

We had our wedding at Shephard’s Beach Resort on 10/18/25, and it was everything we could have dreamed of — and more! From start to finish, the entire weekend was flawless. The beach ceremony was stunning, and the Wave Nightclubmade for an incredible reception space — vibrant, elegant, and full of energy.|A huge shoutout to Leah, who ran everything seamlessly. She kept the day stress-free and perfectly on schedule — we didn’t have to worry about a single thing. The bartenders and servers were amazing all night — friendly, fast, and made sure everyone always had what they needed.|DJ Brandon James absolutely crushed it! The dance floor was packed all night, and every song transition felt spot-on. The food was outstanding — our guests are still talking about how delicious everything was.|Every detail, from the breathtaking beach backdrop to the glowing nightclub reception, came together perfectly. I wouldn’t change a single thing. If you’re thinking about getting married in Clearwater, Shephard’s Beach Resort and The Wave are a dream come true!

WOW WOW and WOW. What a beautiful location. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Saturday is definitely party night. Music was fantastic. Can't recommend this hotel enough. Would 100% stay here again. If you do book make sure you book a sea view room. Oh forgot to mention they have valet parking which was a bonus. Would like to apologize to the lady on reception I didn't mean to come across in that way. Your service was amazing and thank you.

What an amazing experience! I could write paragraphs about everything and just how wonderful it was. The room, the view, the beach, the bar, the pool & hot tub, the nightlife, dinning options, and the overall location. It was all top notch. I will definitely be returning. Shout out to Tina behind the counter, Sara serving drinks on the beach, and Jonathan in valet; just to name a few. Great team!

Do not stay here if you want a good nights sleep. Our room faced the pool, beyond which is a stage. The band played loudly until after midnight and the DJ continued until 2am. Our room actually vibrated from the bass. I asked the front desk about the noise. The response? “It’s an entertainment hotel.” Ridiculous. I’ve stayed at major resorts all over the world. Vegas, major cities worldwide. Not once did the entertainment disturb the guests in their rooms. The man at the front desk told me I was the seventh guest that night to complain. C’mon man! Seven complaints in a single night? Read through the other similar reviews. The management does a remarkable job of gaslighting the “Entertainment hotel” narrative. My suggestion to the management: Be transparent. Revise your website. “This hotel is for the nightlife crowd. You will be exposed to loud music into the wee hours of the morning.” Branding yourself as an Entertainment Hotel is woefully inadequate.

I had an amazing stay here! Regina at the front desk went above and beyond to make me feel welcomed. At first, I was skeptical because I’ve never been to the area before, but I’m so glad that this was the resort that I chose. I will definitely be returning. The drinks are great. The food was good. The view is spectacular! The beach access is such a good perk. I had one bad experience at the bar and it was handled promptly and appropriately. Overall, I am very pleased with my stay.

Our daughter’s beautiful wedding ended in heartbreak due to the unprofessional and aggressive behavior of Shepard’s security staff. We recently hosted her wedding at Shepard’s. We only chose this venue over others—despite being longtime Wyndham timeshare owners—because Shepard’s offered a private beach. Everything else was comparably priced, and we now deeply regret not choosing Wyndham. The ceremony was everything we’d hoped for. My wife and daughter spent months planning every detail. Shepard’s only provides tablecloths, napkins, and dinnerware—we brought everything else. ALOT of time and money went into the wedding here. At with 90+ out of town guests, we brought significant revenue in for them. After the wedding, our daughter—the bride—was denied entry to the on-site bar and nightlife area where over 80 of her guests were, simply because she had been walking with and taking to someone who attempted to use a fake ID. She had no part in the ID and did not encourage or assist the guest. Regardless, she was treated with hostility and called my wife in tears. As a retired law enforcement officer, I went to calmly ask what happened. I’m hard of hearing, and the music was extremely loud, so I leaned in to hear better. The guard immediately yelled at me to “get out of his face,” though I showed no aggression. A guest actually stepped in between us because he didn’t know what the guard might do. The guard accused my daughter of being “complicit,” despite the fact that she had been served by Shepard’s staff for two days. Let me be clear—we don’t condone fake IDs. We weren’t upset she was denied entry. But refusing entry to the bride at her own wedding, over something she had no control over, was unreasonable and unacceptable. My older daughter tried to ask a question, and the guard responded by grabbing the bridge of his nose, shaking his head, and telling her to stop talking to him. Completely inappropriate and disrespectful. If Shepard’s has a policy of banning anyone linked to someone with a fake ID, it should be communicated calmly and respectfully. The bride is not responsible for policing every guest’s ID. The situation escalated further when my sister-in-law—a psychologist—respectfully asked what law the guard was referring to when he claimed it was a felony. It is not a felony to attempt to use a fake ID at a bar; it is only a felony if presented to a law enforcement officer—which he was not. He responded with more hostility. Feeling threatened, she started recording on her phone. For that, she and her husband were evicted from the hotel at 11:30 PM and told to find other lodging. While packing, she was taunted telling her repeatedly to “pack faster.” This was not just unprofessional—it was deeply unsettling. Several guests chose to leave the venue entirely, and we later learned that the security guards were overheard bragging about having thrown out the bride and wedding party. We tried calling our event coordinator (a director at the resort) that night—no response. The next day, we met with her in person. Not once did she say “I’m sorry.” Not even a performative apology. Just complete indifference. What began as a dream wedding ended in stress, fear, anxiety, and total disappointment. Reading other low-star reviews, we now see that security has been a repeated issue at Shepard’s.We as a family are extremely respectful and professional, we did not deserve the treatment we received. My niece, who is over 30, also had a poor experience with the guards. I will leave her to do her own review. If you’re considering this venue for a wedding or special event, please read all the reviews. Think twice before booking. The setting may be beautiful, (the rooms are just ok) but the way guests are treated here - especially by security—can ruin what should be one of the most memorable nights of your life.

Yelp
Came to shepherds for some drinks and live music and it did not disappoint! This seems like a great spot to stay but also a fun place to visit for drinks, music, and a view. I ordered a strawberry mojito that was delicious! You're able to rent chairs on the beach, jet skis, and more through the hotel but they also have two bars and Carl Motyka was performing while we visited and he was great! Some places you visit feel like you're rushed out but if you're looking for somewhere to relax for a while this is the spot to be! Holding off on 5 stars only because I've not stayed in the hotel and also didn't order food here.

Yelp
Incredible experience from the minute we stepped in the door. The ladies at the front desk were so kind to us. The resort is extremely clean and well maintained. There were 4 of us in a room and we fit very comfortably in a double bed room with sofa. We had a view of the beach and spotted some dolphins from the balcony which was sweeeettt! My favorite part is that we didn't even feel the desire to leave the resort because of the food, drinks, live music, club and shop they offered. We had too much fun at the club, the DJ was I would come stay here again and again. Top tier views, service, music and food.

Yelp
Originally had reservations at Opal but my sister saw Shepards on TikTok and it looked really fun so we changed our reservations . Huge mistake .... It's a nice place if you're in your 20's and want to party non stop and get no sleep .. When we first checked in we noticed the toilet wasn't flushing properly and the water in the bathtub wasn't going down so we called the front desk and they sent someone up who "fixed it" . The toilet at least worked but the water still wasn't going down in the bathtub , at this point we already got comfortable and didn't feel like switching rooms . There was tissues under the bench left from previous guests and dirt under beds . Definitely not clean but our view was great and we were excited to hit the pool . The pool area is nice , they have balls for the pool and you're allowed to bring your own floaties . The bars were awesome all around the pool area and behind the pool facing the beach . The bars were our favorite part The music could've been better during the day . Now to get to the fun part , our room was located right above the pool and bar area so at night they have crazy parties that last until 2-3 am , the music was so loud , our walls were shaking from the bass . We barely got any sleep from the noise . Overall if ur looking to party and don't mind loud music stay here, if you're looking for a quiet, relaxing vacation go elsewhere . I will not repeat They had jet ski rentals right outside the hotel by the beach and this hotel is located right on the beach which is great . They also charge you $30 to rent a chair on the beach but we didn't know and just went out and sat on them and nobody said anything , we even had bar and food service on the beach which was cool and being that we didn't pay the $30 for the chairs it was awesome . Beware of the gift shop store right outside of the hotel entrance . She overcharged me for print shirts . One crop top with a print was $70 which she neglected to tell me the full price until she printed it. She originally said $30 and said if I get one more shirt it would be free . I was charged $210 for two print t shirts, one bikini and one magnet . When you try to Google the store to find the number you can't . Terrible

Yelp
We recently visited during Christmas holidays a few weeks ago with the family, two adults and two kids. First, good experiences: Great access to the pool, to the beach, and to the bar. Great family size, well suited, especially with the heated pool. We really enjoyed the convenience this resort offered with the layout, access from the elevators to outdoors, and even to the main street. Overall staffs including maintenance team, cleaning crew, bartenders, valet parking and luggage support team, except the front management were great. Their food and drinks were great as well. Bad parts now... Worst experience with front desk managers, they were rude, unfriendly and not much accommodating. Our next room guests had their TV on all night long, woke us in the middle of the night on Christmas. Couldn't sleep again, stayed awake for a few hours, attempting to get some help from the management team with the noise. At least they helped and found another room for us to move so we can sleep rest of the night. Then a morning call on Christmas morning, a bit early after such experience between 8:30~9 ish, asking us to either move back to the original room, or have to emtpy the room immediately. Their excuse was to blame on many new customer arrivals, while I believe the main reason was for their cleaning & service team to be off as soon as possible so they can also enjoy the Christmas with their family. Again, that's the right thing to do for their employees, but I just wish they managed it more professionally... Out intention was to move out from the first room after some good rest on Christ morning. How they asked us to move right away after only a few hours of nap was very rude. they should have apologized first for what has happened and asked us to move. instead, they were literally yelling us to move out ASAP. The smell at the lobby. Whatever the spray or cleaning chemical they were using, it was really bad. l held my breathing every time I walked by the lobby. I asked one of the front desk managers about the smell, and he gave me a response "I don't smell anything, what's wrong with you" type of attitude. Again, very rude... At the end, resort has very good features, like the access to the pool and the beach, would be great to the families with small kids. However, rooms are very old, very strong smell at the front lobby, their shampoo and conditioner even smelled the same, front desk management team should learn true meaning of hospitality and treat their customers better, like rest of their crews from the maintenance, cleaning and parking team.

Yelp
Had a very nice stay at this beach resort right on Clearwater beach. Amazing views and comfortable rooms and beds. Very large patio overlooking the beach. They also have a great pool and hot tub outside. There's always something going on, which is why it gets 4 stars. It's pretty loud because there's music playing outside til 11or 12 on the weekends so if you need to get some sleep it might not happen. Also the shower could have had a bit more pressure for my liking, easily just replace the standard shower heads for something a little more upscale. But otherwise the staff was very friendly and they have excellent dining and drinking options available right at the resort and within walking distance.

Yelp
Go for the small private beach. Grill food was good not great. Nice live music. Easy valet parking.

Yelp
COVE is the latest and greatest dining experience on Clearwater Beach. Located directly on the water at Shepherd's Resort this restaurant will WOW YOU! Enjoy a meal at Cove Kitchen and Bar for some of the best food you will find in Florida. A great ambiance for a dining experience any time of the day or night. Great prices VERY friendly staff, and did we say GREAT MEALS! The ribeye melts in your mouth, the lobster cannelloni and mushroom brushetta are my personal faves that will have us here often. The view makes you feel as if you're on a luxury yatch with dolphin jumping and a sunset over Clearwater Beach which is breathtaking! Enjoy and see you there.

Yelp
The seagulls and pigeons/flying rats kept trying to steal are food and it was annoying. We had six kids and nine adults. The live music is nice and the burger was great. The service was good for 15 people. Also it's on the beach. 3stars

Yelp
This is the worse hotel experience I've ever had. I've stayed at hotels with loud music before that had nightclubs attached to them and never have I ever had the whole building shaking from the base. It's actually quite terrifying. There was no such disclaimer when booking the room, I am with an elderly person and this is terrible. At least a mention of this would've been highly appreciated, if not during the booking process than at least during check in. Other hotels have asked upon check in if I'm alright with loud music or if I wanted a higher floor to not have to hear the music that loud. Not to mention the room was dirty upon checking, dirty AC unit, stains, napkins under the furniture as if they didn't even sweep. I would've been happier at one of the cheap motels down the block. If you're looking to stay up all night then go ahead and book this place. If not, then don't.

Yelp
Shephard's Beach Resort made our wedding day magical! We toured many beach hotels in the St. Pete, Clearwater, and Tampa area. Not one would budge on letting our cat be a part of the ceremony. Until we toured Shephard's! Leah is a wonderful person and was fine with our cat and dog joining us for the ceremony, pictures, and the grand entrance! The staff at Shephard's made everything run so smoothly and we couldn't be happier! Leah is great at responding and very upfront about costs and what can be done. I recommend this Shephard's Beach Resort for anyone wanting their pets to be a part of their big day! Note: this review is for their wedding service. The hotel is great but I will confess it was too loud for me to stay the night.

Yelp
I spent Labor Day weekend at Shepard's Resort. It was very busy with a ton of kids. The pool had all kinds of nasty crap floating in it. You couldn't get in the hot tub because it was always filled with kids. My shower had globs of old shampoo on the floor and mildew by the glass partition. One light bulb was burned out in the lamp next to my bed. The restaurant was new, my daughter had free vouchers for breakfast and was charged for drinks. We had two entries, which we had vouchers for, my daughter had 2 sides and 3 drinks. Our bill was $39.00. The next day we got the same thing and our bill was $17.00. You can't even take a yeti with ice water near the pool. This was my first and last experience with this resort. For $305.00 a night they certainly can do better.

Yelp
This resort just over served a gentleman on the beach. He clearly was disoriented. Security was called. They sent him on his way on a skeedoo watercraft. I hope he is going to be alright and safe. He shouldn't be driving anything. Disgusted will never stay here again. Unethical

Yelp
This place used to be top notch. I've been waiting for a refund since may. My refund was credited to someone else's credit card. I've filed a dispute and spoke to multiple managers and NOBODY can help me. I was advised by my banks fraud department to contact an attorney. How ridiculous.........Never again......

Yelp
My husband and I attended a Threshers game last summer for 1st responders. They had a silent auction and Shephard's had donated a 3 day-2 night stay with breakfast and free parking. My husband had the winning bid. (Thanks for supporting the 1st responders-he's retired FF). I was concerned though because Shephard's is known as a party place with loud, live music going to about 2:30 in the morning. I'd read many reviews complaining about the noise and the rooms vibrating. So being local, I said to my husband, let's give it a try and if it's unbearable we can just go home at night and stay there during the day. When he called to make the reservation, he asked to be in a quiet area-the rep warned that the music goes till 1 a.m. and to be prepared. Well, we got there and the tone was set by the valet, who was super friendly and greeted us warmly. My husband checked in and the woman at the desk again was super friendly and kind and said we had a good room. We did! We were on the 6th floor facing north -Gulfview Blvd. (Tip-odd numbered rooms in Sand Key tower face the road and NOT the pool). We had a little mini -frig, microwave, coffeemaker, a loveseat, high top table and king bed. Weeknights the night club is not in session, so we were there Tuesday-Thursday and never had any problem with noise. Our room was quite clean-indeed the whole resort was. The housekeepers greeted us with a smile on their faces every time we saw them. The breakfast buffet was a hot breakfast with eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, biscuits and French toast. There was wonderful fresh fruit and breakfast breads. We enjoyed it both days and the server was great too. We spent some time at the pool and again the guy at the towel desk was friendly and smiling. So overall, the place was clean, friendly, and our room was quiet. What keeps me from 5 stars is that the TV remote wouldn't respond-it was flashing red lights. We couldn't turn the TV off -it was on when we entered the room and wouldn't turn off via the remote. After 2 calls to the desk, waiting for someone to come up as promised and getting an excuse WI-FI was having a problem, we just unplugged the TV from the wall. Next morning we got a call asking if our issue had been resolved. I responded, no and took my remote to the desk. The young lady put new batteries in, but there still was flashing lights. She said she'd send someone to program the remote. Maybe they did-we were out of the room. But it wouldn't turn off the next night either. So again, we unplugged it. Aside from the TV issue, it was a great stay and we used it to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary (the next day). I would consider going again with the same stipulation of going a week night and facing Gulfview.

Yelp
Such a fun night! Ended the day here and had the best time listening to live music. Definitely get here early if you want to avoid a younger crowd later in the night. The food and drinks were great and our server was amazing, she would come up to the dance floor and ask if we wanted more drinks. 10/10!

Yelp
My husband and I was greeted by Toni upon checking in early and she was the best. We had our room within 10 mins and enjoyed our first day at this amazing hotel soaking up the sun. Toni is by far very professional and inviting and will Go the extra mile to make sure your stay is fabulous. We will be going back next year!!!

Yelp
Fun place to dance the night away! Live music, top 40 hits keep the crowd on the dance floor - enjoyable!

Yelp
My wife and I came to this resort for a brief getaway... We had a misunderstanding with our room and reservation. Tammy, who is one of the day shift supervisors, stepped in and took care of the misunderstanding and set us all up for our retreat visit. From their amenities to their food, and their customer service, this beach resort is the spot if you need a 1 stop shop to vacation!! See you there

Yelp
We were on vacation and found a cockroach in our room the first night. They wouldn't do anything about it so we moved hotels. They didn't even offer any accommodation, and weren't very helpful. My gf and her daughter were very creeped out. I would have understood if it would've came in through the balcony but we didn't even use it. If you are a 4 plus star hotel you should've been more helpful. Very disappointed.

Yelp
I won a two night stay in a silent auction before covid and planned to use it for our anniversary weekend. Due to covid, we waited 5 months later to go. Thinking it would be safer now, and less crowded we went this weekend. First of all, I have to say we did not encounter any poor employees. Everyone we interacted with, from check in to the breakfast restaurant to security (yea.. more about that in a bit) were very professional and helpful. The room was beautiful and clean and the bed was super comfy. The problem was... never have I ever stayed in a hotel where the people in the room next door get kicked out for fighting so loud after midnight that we had to call security. A loud bang woke me up and I asked husband if he heard that. He did. He looked out the door and smelled pot and saw the door fly open like it was broken off the hinges (spoiler alert, it was.) That's when he called security. Two people came up to handle the situation and ended up calling another three to remove the occupants. The next morning maintenance spent most of the day repairing the damage. The pool area is nice, we were able to stay at a distance from people. We put our masks on while leaving the pool area, returning towels etc. Most people did not. In fact, some patrons didn't even wear masks inside. The overall clientele was a bit seedy, if you know what I mean. Unfortunately management acknowledged that guests constantly break the rules to include smoking in the room (even though there is a $500 fine for smoking in rooms, people just dispute the charges with their credit card companies.) Essentially their hands are tied. I feel bad for the rank and file employees too because you know they can't really say anything. Originally I thought we would spend some time down by the stage area listening to the bands but I just didn't feel like dealing with seedy people. I enjoyed the balcony of our room a lot. After a few hours at the pool, a storm came through and it was raining on and off all day. It was nice to sit there and read all day while my hubs watched football. I could hear the bands playing in the afternoon and the dj music they played while it was raining too hard for the bands to play. The other area that needs improvement was the breakfast. Pre-covid it was an enormous brunch buffet and we were looking forward to it. Post covid, much of the food is clearly pre-cooked and room temp. Again though, the servers were great. I had been to Shepard's once before to have dinner and dance on a girl's weekend a couple years ago and it was really fun. The band was phenomenal and I was looking forward to enjoying some good live music. Anyway, I was disappointed and it had nothing to do with the employees.

Yelp
The trip started out great! No complaints until the last day. I went to check out and they charged me $78.00 for a friend stopping by for the day. $22.50 a day which was fine. however they charged me that price for every day I was actually there. When I asked about the charge the staff at the desk were very disrespectful!! Apparently I am not allowed to ask why this charge is in my bill. I was told 12 times " we don't do day passes" I then was told by the very smart child working don't rush her and she could care less if I came back. I won't dont worry but I will warn everyone if the craziness you may see on your bill. Secondly they put bottles of water in your room ( most do right) however they charge you $6 a bottle Lessoned learned !!

Yelp
What an amazing place. My experience was excellent from the time I arrived until the moment I left. The employees are amazing. The valets are efficient and friendly as well. The girls (Toni and Krysten)at check in were quick and efficient and very welcoming. I shared my story that I was there for a break as I lost my wife a couple of months ago. The bartenders were amazing as well. The entire place is very clean. The entertainment was excellent and the food and drinks were excellent as well. The staff, the amenities, the rooms, and everything about Shepards defines hospitality at its finest. The hotel is centrally located within walking distance to everything. Thank you and I will be back again soon.

Yelp
We visited in early February so bear that in mind while reading this review. This place is very nice. Not crowded at all, prices very reasonable compared to neighboring resorts, and within walking distance to as many restaurants as you want to visit. The pool is very clean, heated, and chairs are adequately spaced whether you want to sit in sun or shade. The hot tub is also clean, and HOT. The staff are all very nice and helpful, and the poolside servers do a great job of attending to your drink needs. Live music every evening, and good piped in music during the day while relaxing at the pool. They also have several covered patio areas if you want to sit at the beach and listen to music. Our room was very clean, and maid service was always nearby if we needed fresh towels, etc. Lots of tv channels as well. The balcony is small but nice, with good views of the sunsets. The restaurant is also clean and has a good view of the ocean. The buffet was not open due to Covid, so they only served breakfast each day. The breakfast selections were all very good, and the wait staff were great as well. We even received complimentary breakfasts for 2 each day. The hotel also has bike rentals and offers a free local shuttle (tips expected). They will also take you to/from the airport for a flat rate. A great place in our opinion. We plan to return again!!!

Yelp
We stayed in a King Gulf View July 1-8 and have no complaints. Music was loud, but we were forewarned while making online reservations. Music played into the late night during the Holiday, we only heard light thumping of bass in the room. The room and staff were very nice and accommodating. We'll be back.

Yelp
This hotel was clean and we had adequate access to the beach. However, the nightly band/music was LOUD until the early hours of the morning! We tried to move rooms, but the hotel was booked. The resort needs to do a much better job of informing guests of the loud music before a room is booked.

Yelp
Cool place with live music and exceptional sunsets. Menu offers typical fast food items. Drinks are hit or miss for me. I've been there when the drinks are delicious and strong, but also been there when the drinks were watered down and tasteless in my opinion. Overall a pretty cool place to hang out, have a few drinks, and just relax and enjoy.

Yelp
Absolute joke of a place. DO NOT USE VALET!!! They crashed my vechile and tried to argue with me about it as if my vechile was damaged prior to coming there. The security and the staff on site were completely unprofessional.

Yelp
I wish I could rate this hotel even less. if you like roaches then this is the place for you. We checked out the following morning, just glad to get another room.

Yelp
Enjoyed our visit this time around. Service way better than our last visit and they now offer a few gluten free items. Nice Sunday entertainment (guy singer and strumming a guitar) and breathtaking views. My salad was amazing and I would return just to have it again. My husband enjoyed his burger.

Yelp
If you are reading this please take this as a sign too book your stay at Shepard's beach resort located in Clearwater, Florida. I decided too drive from Orlanstay at this resort for my 25th birthday and I can wholeheartedly say this place did not disappoint. The ambiance , the food , the live music and the INCREDIBLE staff really tie everything together. First I'd love too mention how clean this place is , I mean spotless. Second the views speak for itself, from the street view , to the ocean view and even the resort was breathtaking. Third I would like too mention the staff as far as valet Kyle was very courteous, patient and friendly from when we first checked in to the time of our departure. He always had a smile on his face whether it was eight in the morning or eleven pm at night; he kept a great attitude and had amazing energy. I'd also like too mention Evan he is a beachside server, he was quick on his feet, knowledgeable , friendly and attentive! I work at the Cheesecake Factory and I always appreciate a great server! Last but definitely not least a staff member I am extremely grateful to encounter is Fredy Garcia. I mean this guy is a complete gem and asset to this establishment. Not only is he incredibly informative and knowledgeable but he is gracious, kind and an all around angel. He works near the resorts private beach where they sell excursions. Now I am all for adventure but I was a little skeptical when it came too parasailing. He encouraged me to try something new, fun and exciting as I am entering a new milestone "The big 25 " . Might I add it was an amazing time and if you ever thing of doing something but you aren't sure just go for it. Me and my best-friends went parasailing and you have the option of adding a photoshoot for an additional $30 which of course we decided too do. So it'll be $80 a person for parasailing plus $30 for photos. I'll include photos in this review! The next day we also did something paddle boarding which was a lot of fun Just want too say how much we appreciate Fredy because he is truly an angel in disguise but what really blew my expectations was his "happy birthday" solo he played for me at the beach! Thank you so much fredy , if management is reading this please give this guy a promotion :-)) All in all, Shepard's is the 100% the spot too be it doesn't matter the occasion!! :-)))

Yelp
I did some research on hotels in the Clearwater area and Shephards Beach Resort really stuck out. We spent 5 nights at the beginning of June. They did not disappoint at all! The room was very nice and clean. If you need your room cleaned daily you need to ask.( because of covid). The Tiki bar and grill was awesome. Good food and drinks. They menus were a little small but good.we visited other restaurants in the area anyway. The pool was nice and very well maintained. There was lots of people who should not have been in the pool. It was very obvious that they had no wrist bands on.wish management would enforce this. The bands were great! The music was load and you can hear them from the pool side rooms. The bands play till after 1:00 am. It did not keep us up at all and we didn't mind. I recommend Shephards Beach Resort.

Yelp
Great location, fun "party" and activity spot. I stayed here Fri-Tues and it's true that the nightclub music is thumping until 2am (bring earplugs if you plan on sleeping before this time, they were a life savor for me). Unfortunately only the tiki grill was open for food, so there were times I needed to venture out if I wanted more options. I rented a jet ski (100/hour) and had an absolute blast. The staff was fun & friendly (average price in the area). The beach area is small. I went to outside beaches two of the days I was there. The jolly trolley does swing by the hotel so it is convenient to take into town/to the beach. I also look for a good gym to hit up while on vaca and the hotel one just did not cut it. It was smal, hot and had a few pieces of cardio equipment. There is a nice gym in walking distance (Clearwater fitness)

Yelp
Loved this resort. The front desk lady Toni was very helpful and friendly. The resort is close by to the beach, has many outside bars, club during the weekend, and great place to host a wedding. Walking distance to most places

Yelp
We had a great stay here. It is in an ideal location where you can walk to everything you need, and the beach is just steps away. The pool was nice too and we loved that drinks and food were all available near the beach and the pool. The hotel was very clean and the staff was very nice and helpful. Our only complaints are that it does get loud at night on the street and it's easy to hear the nightlife. Plus, all the walls seemed thin and we could hear kids in all the rooms near us. Didn't feel that relaxing, the beds additionally were not the most comfortable. However, I'd definitely stay again and we enjoyed our stay here!

Yelp
Outstanding! I was here with my sons family. Gulf view room on the 6th floor was perfect. One of the beds in 630 has a sink hole in it but I snuggled in. Beach, water, pool etc was lovely. I would have liked more coffee in the room and bottled water that wasn't $6 a bottle. Prices in the grab and go are quite high. Food at the poolside grill was delicious.

Yelp
Shepherd's has a beautiful location for a night out or for a wedding (or both!). They were very accommodating and welcoming. The wedding was on the beach where it fit comfortably 75 people and was right off the water after the jetti. The reception was in their resort called "The Wave" where at 10pm it turns into a night club. They switched over very quickly and efficiently and we were ready to continue dancing all night. My family, friends and I had such a wonderful weekend here and highly recommend it for a relaxing vacation to utilize the pool or beach or get rowdy at night with the outside bars, tequila bar next door and the dance floor. It was on a strip of a ton of hotels, restaurants and other shops. Fun for all!

Yelp
Made my reservation and placed my card information in. Got the confirmation email, a few days later a friend received a call stating that her room would be canceled if she did not call and pay for one night( apparently their system was upgrading). She asked about my reservation and the lady said that my reservation was there but i had to call also. My friend said well call her and let her know because she never received a call. A few days later and i called and they canceled my room because whoever my friend talked to, said that i promised to call and since i did not they canceled my reservation. Best part they did not even email me a cancellation email. I would have shown up and not had a room. And of course now they are booked up So i am attending a wedding and i have no room. They did not care, were unapologetic, and they told me to call another hotel.

Yelp
Shephard's is a one stop entertainment paradise. My husband surprised me for our vow renewal, and he couldn't have picked a more perfect place. From valet and check-in, to poolside service and live entertainment - This is truly a resort with 10 STAR SERVICE. Our room overlooked the stage and pool (Gulfview) It was perfect Jose made sure we had everything we needed and called our room after getting settled. Now that's EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE We stayed during COVID 19 and they are definitely taking the proper precautions to ensure all guests safety such as sanitizing the hard surfaces in the rooms. Also they are enforcing face masks indoors. Jose and Brie are some of the finest employee's at the check in desk at Shepherd's along with Todd the bartender out at the pool and and Patrick our awesome pool server/manager. I asked Patrick for a menu as he was walking through and he not only brought a menu but recommended some really great food and drink options. Patrick was truly a blessing to have assist us... they kept our area free of trash and clutter. Absolutely amazing team Patrick!! This place sits right on the beach and have a beautiful pool and stage for live music and entertainment. The truffle fries and the Malibu bucket with the extra Malibu black shot was sooooo good. I had at least 6 of those. Everything is reasonably priced and you don't have to leave the resort to have a good time. We will definitely be visiting again. Now the club was closed so we can't rate that but overall spectacular experience

Yelp
My wife and I were looking for a quick get away together in Clearwater and didn't want to spend a fortune so we stayed at the Shephard's Beach Resort. The resort is conveniently located close to the main beach (10 min walk) without the busy crowds. A major plus about the resort is that parking is FREE. The hotel amenities are adequate, they have a decent pool with poolside service. There is a little cove to the rear where you can rent jet skis. The best amenity is the music stage that plays live music. The entertainment attracts a large crowd which creates a good atmosphere. We didn't try any food there so can't provide any feedback. The rooms are dated and very basic. The one important thing to note about this hotel is the live music is very loud so if you are a light sleeper this is not the hotel for you. Overall we enjoyed our stay here and would return.

Yelp
Incredibly unhelpful. Called to send a bottle of champagne to my future sister-in-law's room for her bachelorette, but was told I should have called at least two days ago. Was told that staff was "on task" for the guests' experiences, but not one of them could spare five minutes for this particular guest. Told to order from an outside delivery service. Ridiculous.

Yelp
So much went wrong with my vow renewal at Shephard's Resort. Let's dive into it, the morning of my vow renewal, I arrived at Shephard's to check in, and no one could find my reservation. The front desk lady had the audacity to ask me if I was sure my event was today. By this point, I am mortified. My bridesmaids start coming in from the car to check on me, and I'm panicking, but I'm trying to downplay the situation because I was so embarrassed. After over 30 minutes to an hour, the staff finally realized someone (hotel event coordinator-Leah) had checked us in the day before. How were we supposed to get a key or know we had been checked in without communication? Then, the events coordinator was MIA at this time. Then, we check the Wave Room, and it's not set up yet at 11:30 a.m. they are still rolling tables out. We get up to the room and drop our dresses off, and the room smells like musty mold. With the chaos of checking in, we are running late to the salon. It caused a domino effect all day. We end up in a bit of traffic. Things happen, right? Instead of the coordinator Leah easing the stress and just shortening or eliminating cocktail hour, she goes up to my mom and starts running her mouth and says, "No one has ever been late before." She went on to say this to my mother 3 times. Leah had my mom so upset that her blood pressure was through the roof because she would not stop running her mouth about the bridal party being late. The hotel coordinator Leah, then decided to come up to the suite and try to force her way inside my room to cause more drama, and two of my bridesmaids stopped her as I was getting my dress on. I was only approx. 35 minutes late. Our ceremony was short and sweet around 10-15 minutes, so it was not that horrible for timing. The ending time for my event did not change, so my being late did not keep any of the staff at work longer. I did not ask to push out any of my timelines for my vow renewal (The Wave Room turns into a nightclub at 10 p.m. any events are done at 9:30 p.m.), but the hotel events coordinator Leah decided to have an attitude all night. She did not say five words to me all night. She was passive aggressive all night. She allowed people to walk through my ceremony, and my mother-in-law had to ask them to please exit twice. During the pictures people were in the water behind us and the photographers asked them to move and one of the hotel guest became extremely disgruntled and acted like he was going to get out and fight one of my photographers. Another couple of hotel guests decided it was ok to stand behind me doing a bikini shoot while my photographers were doing pictures. My photographers ask them to please exit the private beach area until pictures are over. They continued with their photoshoot and ignored them, so I turned around and asked them to remove themselves from behind me. It was unacceptable for them to play their games and not do their jobs because they were mad I was late because of all the nonsense I endured that morning because they dropped the ball. When I reached out to the general manager of Food and Beverage Erik and the assistant manager of Food and Beverage Rosemary. Erik ignored my email for almost a month. Rosemary just kept replying with I sent the information to our GM of Food and Beverage. When Erik finally replied, he talked to me so disrespectful and never called and discussed the situation. He claims he was there that night, but none of my wedding party, parents, or guests recall him after seeing a picture of him. If Erik was truly there, he should have come up and introduced himself and asked if there was anything he could do. There was not that many staff at our event since it was a smaller celebration, and everyone who attended flew in from various other states other than my husband and myself. I suggest saving yourself the hassle and going to one of the other resorts on Clearwater Beach. I feel like Leah was trying to let my entire day be sabotage by not doing her job, especially after she got mad we were running late. If I could do it again, I would have, without a doubt, chose a different venue.

Yelp
If you like staying with roaches......this is the place to be. Mother-in-law found and photographed 3 roaches in her room. Roaches were identified as German cock roaches although management stated they were "bugs that live in the palm trees". They said that the bugs come in from the balcony (one solution would be for them to install screens on the balcony doors). Management was extremely unhelpful and almost annoyed by this complaint. Interestingly, as I was discussing with management, another guest was complaining about bugs in her room. Only accommodation that was offered from management was having our room cleaned. We had to spend half a day packing our stuff for room to be cleaned and then unpacking again. Location was great. Food was mediocre. Beach was extremely shelly. They charge for everything.....even beach chairs. Wouldn't recommend.

Yelp
I called in order to make modifications to my reservation and spoke with Anthony - he was incredibly helpful and efficient. Thank you!

Yelp
I have stayed at Shephards many times over the course of 20 years. This stay was so horrible I will NEVER stay there again. I booked a Cabana room because of the convenience. On arrival they tried to give us a different room. We got the room I paid for but my friend who also booked a Cabana room was told we took her room. My confirmation states Cabana room. At night access to the stairs to get to our room were blocked with no heads up on how to get in. By evening, there were bugs in the sink. We went to the front desk to complain/inform and was accused of being drunk. By morning, bugs were all over one of our bags. Called front desk again. They sent someone to Investigate and then someone to spray. Asked for another room and was told no, then told we got the room we asked for. Left and went to Holiday Inn next door and it was wonderful! Called twice to speak to someone in charge. Was told they have an e-mail thread going on with me, but I have NEVER e-mailed them. Maybe I am being confused with another unhappy customer? We do have photos of the bugs. Okay Cody, someone is not truthful here. My friend/cousin was on the computer booking her room at the same time I was on the phone booking my room on May 11th. We were booking for Bear game weekend and that was the date the schedule came out. The room she booked was canceled due to a back injury. I was never called and told of any computer glitch. My confirmation said Cabana room. Our other friend booked the third Cabana room over a month later. We were never offered rooms together. We did not have any food or drinks spilled. the bugs were not ants. They were long and skinny with wings. My sister will be posting pictures. Our room was not blocked with cones, it was a locked door in the hall going from the bar area to the stairs that led to our room and the gate to walk through the pool patio was locked with zip ties. When I booked the room on May 11th I did not give a number of guests but I clearly told them how many would be in the room when I checked in. I did not badger your staff incessantly, in fact, one of the staff thanked us for being calm about the situation. You should be ashamed of yourself. We are not kids, we are senior citizens that love football.

Yelp
Good location at the channel . pretty view with dolphins. Nice little beach but $26 for 2 chairs and umbrella. pool area small , hot tub not hot and small. very clean comfortable beds and rooms. Good housekeeping. Got a balcony studio room with gulf view . pretty sunset.

Yelp
Tom Terrific here with another honest review. UNSANITARY BARTENDER Fourth of July, 2022. 10 pm. I watched a bartender who sported a high and tight haircut dole out drinks. I especially kept my eye on the beer that he poured. WHY? Because when he presented it to the customer he had his fingers on the rim. Yes, He picked up the plastic cup not by the body but by the rim where a patron would put his or her lips. Who taught this clown? We're at the end of pandemic but this is a long term habit of his. I'm sure he didn't just start doing this. He was doing it during the pandemic. People are afraid to speak up when some idiot does this. It's happened to me and just recently at the Olde Bay Cafe in Dunedin. I ordered no drink. I walked out after a half hour of listening to some cruddy band called The Side Effects play songs that you couldn't dance to although i saw a drunk all by himself out there staggering around. I could see the crowd getting figety wanting to dance , just waiting for a good song but the band failed to deliver. They need a new setlist and anew singer. Shepherd's beach Resort - only for the very desperate.
