Shepherd's Run

Shepherd's run was an amazing hidden gem! The place is located in a beautiful private area. The staff is very friendly and helpful. You are greeted when you arrive with a complimentary glass of wine from their winery. Breakfast is light but also included. The spa/sauna are excellent and fairly priced. The room was nice, pretty average with all the basic amenities. This place is more like a retreat spot than an actual hotel but it is very nice!

We had my son's wedding at Shepherd's Run and our entire family on both sides stayed for the weekend. I can't say enough about how wonderful the staff was, how beautiful the garden for the ceremony and reception room were, how great the SR vendor recommendations turned out. Everything was amazing! I highly recommend!!!

We booked Shepherd’s Run for our wedding. From the moment we first toured the venue with our parents, we knew it was the one for us! The outdoor trees, flowers and landscape combined with the well-kept original architecture gave the venue a unique but very beautiful appearance compared to other wedding venues in the area. The staff also added to the beauty of the venue as they were all so friendly and accommodating from when we first met them. They were all super friendly and informative when it came to booking rooms for our guests, making wine selections for our bar package and answering any other questions we had. They all truly made us and our parents feel right at home from the start, which made us feel comfortable through the whole planning process and on our wedding day. The rooms themselves were beautiful, and very clean and spacious! All their wines tasted great and they had a great variety of reds, whites, sparkling, etc. to choose from for our wedding day. During our wedding weekend, the amenities at Shepherd’s Run were great and utilized by all our guests. The complimentary breakfasts and glasses of wine were great for starting each day and for mingling during downtime before the wedding took place. The pool and the gym were very organized and clean, which many of our guests utilized as well. On top of that, all the staff were very friendly and helped our guests whenever they needed it. For our wedding, the spaces we utilized for our ceremony, cocktail hour and reception all looked beautiful and only added to the amazing memories we made and shared with our guests. We took photos inside and around the property, all of which came out amazing with the beautiful architecture and foliage adding amazing detail to each shot. Overall, Shepherd’s Run is a hidden gem in Rhode Island and now holds a special place in our hearts! We can’t wait to go back there for some wine and to enjoy some of the other amenities they provide and events they hold!

Our wedding venue was undeniably beautiful, and there were a few standout staff members—particularly John Mark and Aaron—who were wonderful to work with. Their warmth and professionalism made us feel cared for throughout the weekend, and we truly appreciated their efforts. That said, for the price you pay to host a wedding here, we expected a higher level of hospitality and consistency from the venue as a whole. We’ve visited this location several times over the years—staying at the inn, enjoying wine tastings, having spa services, and ultimately celebrating our wedding—and throughout those experiences, the warmth you hope for at a hospitality-driven property often felt missing. During the planning process, we also found ourselves working with four different people between ordering wine, managing room blocks, and coordinating menu questions, especially since the venue exclusively partners with Blackstone Caterers. The transitions between staff made communication feel disjointed at times, and it added unnecessary complexity to an already involved planning process. One moment that particularly stood out was when the inn manager acknowledged us for the very first time—only as we were packing up our car to leave after the wedding weekend. The greeting felt lackluster, especially compared to the friendliness we saw being extended to other guests. It left us wondering why our interactions felt different. We can’t say for certain why, but as a couple with melanin, it was hard not to question whether that played a role when the contrast was so noticeable. We hope it was unintentional, but intentional or not, it impacted how welcomed we felt on such an important weekend. True hospitality is about more than a beautiful space—it’s about making every guest feel valued, seen, and included. We genuinely hope the venue continues to grow in this area, because the potential is incredible. With more consistent warmth, smoother communication, and a more inclusive environment from the full staff, this could easily become an exceptional experience for every couple who chooses to celebrate here.

We stopped here for the night on a week of New England college tours. Place was the perfect spot to regroup, relax and recharge. Its upscale but serene environment was both calming and inviting. Staff were great and welcome wine and artesian breakfast were delicious. Next time we bring our suits to jump in the outdoor pool/hut tub

Great experience at Shepherd’s Winery! From the moment we arrived, everything was warm, welcoming, and beautifully done. The setting is lovely, the wine was delicious, and the overall vibe made it the perfect place to relax and enjoy the moment. Patrick was friendly and attentive which really added to the experience. We’ll definitely be back and would highly recommend Shepherd’s Winery to anyone looking for a great time and beautiful atmosphere.

We had our wedding at Shepherd's Run and could not recommend it more. The property has such a beautiful variety of locations for pictures, the size was perfect for our 150 person wedding, and the service, particularly on the event planning front from Rowan, was exceptional. We have also stayed at the hotel and visited separately from our wedding and have thoroughly enjoyed every experience. I didn't work with a dedicated planner so I had more contact with Rowan and the Shepherd's Run team than some might experience and they were all wonderful to work with. I highly recommend the Run of the Run package, which is the full venue buyout, as it gave the entire day a more intimate feel and gave us more flexibility over the event. Rowan was exceptionally detail oriented and responsive, particularly in the months leading up to the event when stress was high, and it paid off so well. The event was absolutely perfect with no mishaps, and I've gotten so many comments from guests about how well executed the wedding was. We are so happy with our decision to have our wedding here and I get so much joy looking back at the pictures of our perfect day. Thank you for all of the hard work you did for us!

Shepherd's Run RI It has an outdoor heated pool and hot tub, nestled on the grounds of an old and beautiful monastary. They have a separate wing for their yoga/spa rooms, and a sauna. Also a gym. The whole place has a serene sense, and there is a vineyard I believe as well. The breakfast is extraordinary, ( get the corned beef hash if they have it!) and their wine is great. The staff are polite and accomodating, but the best part is by far the interior. The give you the chance to roam, nestle in the library or by the massive fireplaces. I often go for a day trip or to one of their holiday events, but staying there was an elevated experience. The restful & peaceful stay was rejuvenating. I look forward to a solo stay again, as well as bringing family and friends for future visits. A true gem and worth every penny.
