Ethiopia's Bale Mountains National Park

"We rolled into an opulent hotel near the National Palace whose plush rooms had recently hosted African dignitaries for the AU summit; the stately bed and grandeur contrasted sharply with the quietly spellbound streets outside, and the property offered a wide variety of dining options plus a pool and spa that reinforced its role as Addis Ababa's luxury landmark." - Alexandra Fuller Alexandra Fuller Alexandra Fuller is a British author and journalist who grew up in Zimbabwe, Africa. Exceptional property - well managed and maintained, great facilities and excellent, attentive people. Ethiopians are friendly by nature but the team at the at the Sheraton is over the top. ||Everything about my stay was first class starting with the check-in process which was handled by Mariamawit Yimer. She thinks like a guest, was very friendly / funny and has a contagious, positive attitude. I made a point of telling the front desk manager, Zelalem, about Mariamawit. He was very gracious, professional and extremely helpful to me during my stay. He is one of the main reasons I will return. ||The service in the executive lounge led by Wondwossen Worku was outstanding. Attentive and prepared great food. He is extremely funny too ||There are 3 more people which made my experience unique: each worked in the Summerfield restaurant. Abnet Mengistie, Ayda Fitwi and Bethlehem were, you guessed it, professional, funny and attentive. I can’t speak highly enough of them.

I’ve stayed here five times now, and it’s honestly one of the best places you can stay in Addis. Some of the amenities are a bit older and show some use, but everything is always very clean and comfortable. A little renovation in a few rooms could make it even better, but overall it’s a great place.

Been here several times, but it had been a while. The hotel is starting to show its age and definitely needs updating. It is starting to have that 1980's feel a bit, but it remains a wonderful site. The breakfast is outstanding as is the service and security. The Italian Restaurant on site is also quite good. Not sure I would consider staying anywhere else, but unlike in years past, I would consider it. The room was quite dated and a bit warm. The TV and room controls were really quite old, but the hotel remains charming and the lobby is exquisite and a place to see the highest society of Addis while drinking coffee/tea. The people remain wonderful and would still highly recommend the hotel.

The Sheraton Addis Ababa is the best hotel in the city. It’s a sprawling estate with a great walking track and outside gym. The pool and SPA are exceptional. Restaurants at the hotel are very diverse in cuisine. The staff was very well trained and courteous. A fantastic stay. 👏👏

We had a wonderful stay at the Sheraton Addis to kick off our honeymoon! The room was spacious and clean, with a beautiful balcony overlooking the pool. We enjoyed meals at two of the on-site restaurants and the breakfast buffet — all were delicious and well presented. The service throughout our stay was excellent, and the complimentary airport transfer made our arrival and departure smooth and stress-free. The hotel grounds are absolutely stunning and make for a peaceful retreat in the middle of the city. We were also touched by the thoughtful honeymoon touches — a bottle of wine in our room and a special dessert with a sweet message at the Indian restaurant on our second night. Highly recommend!

The Sheraton Addis was an excellent hotel. The hotel sits up on a small hill overlooking part of Addis. The approach to the hotel from side is very impressive. The quality and ambiance of the hotel was more than what I was expecting. Addis and Ethiopia are nice in places but certainly has its rough spots as well. The Sheraton will make you feel well cared for while you are there. The doormen out front and reception staff were always very helpful. |All of the dining venues we ate in were very good. The food, drinks, whether coffee or wine were exceptional. Our favorite restaurant was Stagioni Italian Restaurant. We ate there for dinner with a nice view out the back overlooking a lit up skyline of Addis Ababa.(see Photo) We tried the local Ethiopian wine, Castel Rift Valley, Cabernet Sauvignon, which we thought was very good and much cheaper than the imported wines from South Africa or France. Also, we had very nice drinks and snacks before our city tour at the Fountain Court bar in the lounge area. |We booked some tours before hand but probably could have waited to book at the Sheraton.|Did not have any qualms about security and no issues with noise or crowds. On Saturday night it was very popular with nice groups of locals enjoying this lovely hotel.

Overall a very nice hotel with excellent staff and luxurious rooms. Beddings and linens are clean and comfortable. Gym is well-equipped and the pool is also enjoyable. I must say, I've been here 3 times and I've gotten sick each time just eating hotel food only. Not acceptable for a chain like this. Hotel is also located in a rough area so don't walk around with any valuables or they will be removed from you.

Service is good - but rooms are very old, with old furniture and not thought for the business traveler. It took me forever to understand how the old lighting system works, with all the writings being gone by usage, and in the room there was not a single USB plug! That should be a bare minimum nowadays. There are definitely better options in Addis.
