I stayed at the Sheraton Pelikan last week and I'm very disappointed in how they handled my reservation and feel like it bordered on fraud. I had booked 7 nights across 3 different reservations. They merged them into one reservation and the rate was in the $200/night average. This was all confirmed and verified at booking. Then shortly before I checked in, they raised the rate to $339/night!!! No warning, nothing. When I arrived, I asked the front desk agent to look at the history and fix it. She was unable so went to the back to talk to her manager. I got excuse after excuse, and they refused to change the rate back to what I booked. Furthermore, the manager wouldn't even come out and talk to me. After much frustration, way too much time spent I finally sent a tweet and the twitter team responded promptly, saw that they did indeed increase the rate for no reason, and then asked the hotel to fix it. Eventually, I got the correct rate back, but this was after spending numerous hours going in circles which is never fun, but even worse when you're overseas and have a very tiring work schedule.
The hotel also continued to lie - (these are minor). They repeatedly told the folks at corporate that the management had spoken with me, and that never happened. The hotel didn't even come by my room to apologize after they realized that I had caught them. It felt like shady business practices to me.
So be aware, if you ever stay here, check the rate you booked and make sure they don't magically increase it.
