We stayed at Sheraton Resort & Spa, Tokoriki Island on a full board package, which included all meals but not drinks. Coming from a great experience at InterContinental Fiji, our expectations were naturally higher, and unfortunately, this resort didn’t quite measure up.
While the staff were friendly, there were noticeable service lapses. On a couple of occasions, our orders were taken but not relayed properly - one instance being a simple cappuccino that took over 30 minutes to arrive, even though the venue wasn’t busy. To their credit, they did acknowledge the delay and kindly provided the cappuccino for free, along with a second cup, which we appreciated.
The resort itself felt a bit neglected. The beach shoreline was covered with seaweed and debris possibly from recent rain and much of it had been pushed aside to one end. As a result, the only usable part of the beach was directly in front of the resort, which ironically was labeled a non-swimming area for new arrivals. Since the rest of the beach wasn’t well maintained, most guests ended up staying in that one area, especially those not interested in snorkeling or using the swimming pool.
The food, though included in the package, was mostly bland and uninspired, it was the same every day. Coffee from the espresso machines was consistently poorly made. Small details like torn flags added to the impression that the resort had once been beautiful but has been somewhat forgotten over time.
Overall, while our stay wasn’t terrible, it fell short of the 5-star experience we expected especially when compared to other Fiji resorts in the same category.
