Sheridan's Cheesemongers is a wonderful store that not only has cheese, but many food products that go well with cheese. There are many choices of Irish cheese which is wonderful and exactly what I want when I'm trying to eat in the locale. Definitely worth a stop if you love cheese.

Sheridan’s Cheesemongers in Galway is hands-down one of the finest cheese stores we’ve ever visited, anywhere in the world. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and full of character—a true haven for anyone who loves exceptional food. We were helped by a young man with curly hair (wish we’d caught his name!), and honestly, he made our experience unforgettable. His patience was incredible—he took the time to listen to exactly what we were looking for, answered all our questions, and never once made us feel rushed. His knowledge of the cheeses was unparalleled, and his recommendations were spot-on, from the more familiar varieties to the lesser-known gems. On top of that, he was just an absolute delight—so kind, approachable, and genuinely passionate about what he does. It was clear he truly enjoys helping customers discover new flavors, and his warmth made us feel like we were chatting with a friend, not just a shop assistant. If there’s an Employee of the Month at Sheridan’s, we absolutely recommend him! One of the absolute highlights was finding Cáis na Tíre, an extraordinary cheese produced in Tipperary. We’ve tried cheeses all over Europe and beyond, and this one genuinely stands out as one of the best we've ever had—rich, complex, and beautifully balanced. The shop itself is full of carefully curated selections—each one clearly chosen with love and expertise. It’s a place where you could easily lose track of time, happily tasting, learning, and chatting. We walked away with full bags, happy hearts, and the certainty that we’ll return every time we’re in Galway. Sheridan’s isn’t just a shop—it’s an experience. Don’t miss it.

Google
The friendliest store owners who gave us many recommendations. We got a cheddar and a goat cheese and walked and ate them around Galway. The cheese was delicious. We would visit again!

Enjoyed a cheese tray with 6 local cheeses upstairs at the wine bar. Good selection of wines from various regions. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. We ended up buying a few cheeses from the downstairs shop. Lovely experience all around.

Yelp
I'm in Galway for the Saturday street market some of which runs along the street in front of Sheridans. And I was hungry. You know how you're not supposed to shop when you're hungry. Oops. So I waited in the (fast moving) queue inside Sherdans, looking over the crackers, cured meats, sauces, jams and the other treats before I was helped by a very pleasant young woman behind the counter. I provided my wants - a firm or hard cheese not from cow milk - and she instantly knew what was available. A sample of the first one and a sample of the second one, and I took a small wedge of each. Reasonably priced and wrapped properly. They lasted in the bag for about an hour or so until I shared them with my friend for a picnic in Eyre Square. Yelp
This shop is amazing, great selection of cheeses I wouldn't usually eat in the states but just taste so much better in Ireland. We went upstairs and had a couple glasses of wine and a cheese plate as well and it was amazing.

Yelp
This cheese bar has a different set of hours than the shop. Usually 4-1030pm. Check google for more accurate hours. Adorable upstairs wine & cheese bar. We had the Irish baked Brie along with a small charcuterie board. You let her know what type of wine you enjoy and she will give you a tasting until you find the right wine.

Yelp
This place is what brought us to Galway in the first place. CHEESE! However, in addition to cheese, they also have a fantastic olive bar, jams, breads, jellies, etc. Overwhelming amount of cheeses, all yours for the sampling. We picked up a couple of chunks of cheeses, some hummus, olives and bread to take back to the BnB we were staying at. Upstairs has a wine bar where you can grab some decently priced wine to go with it.

Yelp
So happy to have dropped into Sheridans Cheesemongers for a small cheese board and glass of wine. The shop is downstairs and the wine bar is upstairs. The place is typical of a wine bar with rustic decor and communal seating. Very relaxing and comfortable, especially because it wasn't too crowded. The person helping us was truly a connoisseur. Extremely knowledgeable, pleasant, and I was really happy with the wine and cheese that he recommended. Honestly, I wish I had stayed longer. Definitely recommended if this is the kind of thing you enjoy.

Yelp
After a week of drinking beer all over Ireland we were so happy to have a local shop owner recommend Sheridans to us. The wine bar upstairs is very cute and cozy with big windows that overlook the farmers market that takes place down below. They have a large wine selection with a price point for everybody. The staff is very friendly and generous in sharing tastings of wine. We were hanging out there for a couple hours catching up with friends and went through two bottles of wine, a charcuterie board, and cheese board. It was all delicious and complimentary of each other. I highly recommend popping in here with some friends, especially on a rainy day.

Yelp
We visited the cheese shop and wine bar twice while we were in Galway for only 2 days. We took cheese, jam, and bread with us on a picnic when we visited the Cliffs of Moher. We also had a cheese board and a bottle of wine upstairs at the wine bar, which was excellent! It's well-decorated, comfortable, and perfect for groups or couples. Everyone who works there is very knowledgeable and happy to assist and answer questions. I would recommend anyone coming here!

Yelp
Gorgeous cheese shop with anything you could want! I stopped by not knowing which cheese to buy but the helpers at the cheese counter were able to find some that I really enjoyed (with the help of sampling). I also picked up some prepackaged cheese and brown bread crackers. I wish there was a cheese shop like this back home!

Yelp
The most amazing cheese and wine selection. Amelia was wonderful and knowledgable. She started us off with a few wine tasters...we ordered two bottles for the four of us and a large cheese & meat platter. WoW this was the best ever!!! We will definitely be back. The service was phenomenal!!!

Yelp
I loved this place. The shop is amazing, but the special treat for me is over the shop through this side door on the plaza there is this hidden wine and cheese bar. I stopped here just to check out,and ended up staying and enjoying as my evening meal. There was a board of local cheese and meats served with bread that was truly outstanding, and very reasonably priced. And the broad selection of wines they had ready to taste and then purchase a glass when you found your perfect match were excellent. This is definitely a place worth the trip, and be sure not to give up when you find it a challenge to find that tiny door to the left of the shop and follow the narrow stairs up to cheese and wine paradise :)

Yelp
This is a great stop in Galway! We arrived and were overwhelmed with 100+ wines to chose from. The person tending bar (wish I remembered her name because she was awesome) helped us choose a bottle of wine after several generous samples!! We dined on a cheese and charcuterie board which was out of this world! Cheeses and meats from across Europe that did not disappoint

Yelp
If you love locally made goodies and delicious food finds, this is your jam. I got some amazing smoked mackerel fish and the most beautiful yellow butter for absurdly low prices. Many delights await herein - cheese, meats, olive oil, vinegar, jellies, and more.

Yelp
Stopped in to the farmers market that was outside and was so happy to find this place. We were taking a trip out to the Cliffs of Moher and wanted to take some lunch. The great staff recommended some great cheese and cured meats. They also had fresh baked bread from bakers in Galway. Their prices were very fair for the high quality items that they had. They packaged everything up for us to travel and we had an amazing lunch of local meats cheeses and bread overlooking the North Atlantic. When in Galway Sheridans is a must!

Yelp
Bought some lovely cheese in their Galway shop; the staff were unbelievably helpful with picking out a nice selection - a bit on the expensive side, but the fantastic quality and service made it worth it. Very friendly and willing to give good advice.

Yelp
What a gem! In the midst of a downpour we dove into this delightful shop. Up the stairs to the wine bar where we had a couple of bottles of great Italian wine along with a wonderful (and excellent value) cheeseboard including a delicious cumin cheddar. The owner Shamus chatted with us and was such a friendly host as we started our travels in Ireland. Wonderful!!!
