Sherwood Guest House

My husband and I stayed here for two nights on our honeymoon road trip. This was a wonderful decision! Vivienne is a wonderful host, a very warm person and made us feel right at home. The breakfast and the room were quality. The location was ideal - we woke up in the morning and simply walked all over Edinburgh each day, coming back when we were tired, and went out again at night. Would highly highly recommend Sherwood Guest House to any traveler

Excellent location right near multiple busses. The host is warm and welcoming and breakfast is delicious. She even accommodated our need to leave early twice. The resource book provided is useful and comprehensive. The cleanliness is amazing (and the housekeeper kept re-folding my husband’s pjs!)|| Be aware that some rooms are quite small, but they have all the necessary amenities. The staircase curves and is just a little tricky to navigate, especially because the plaid carpet plays tricks with bifocals. No real place to sit though except two small chairs by the stairs—the addition of a light near them would allow better usage.||Overall, we loved it and think you will too

I’m so happy that I chose to stay here at Vivienne’s wonderful guesthouse for my first trip to Scotland. She is warm and personable and helped with tips and suggestions for my visit. I would definitely come back!

Sherwood Guest House was absolutely perfect for a visit to Edinburgh. My husband and I stayed 4 nights, most comfortable beds ever, rested and slept well, it was SO QUIET♥️. Our room was very roomy and straightened everyday. Vivienne was so welcoming and very helpful, beginning with advising us not rent a car while in Edinburgh, not easy parking. We were SO GLAD we listened to her. Bus Stop was right outside and so easy. We took the train to Stirling Castle. Walking to the Royal Mile was about 20min, we cut through a lovely park! Breakfast was in the most charming room and was a delicious continental style. I would recommend making dinner reservations for the first night, we made ours at the Old Bell Inn. It was right around the corner from Sherwood House, SO DELIGHTFULLY and the best Meat and Ale Pie!!! We would definitely stay at Vivienne’s Sherwood Guest House again!!!!

Just be prepared for a very small room. Everything else is perfect: Vivienne is a great host, the breakfast is very generous, and the location is very convenient (bus connectivity is very good and it is a quiet neighbourhood). The room and furnishings were fine as well, except for the size of the room (which wouldn't stop me from going back; it's just good to be prepared...)

I absolutely loved my stay at Sherwood Guest house. The host is a beautiful representative of Scottish hospitality - she was kind in chatting with us, giving us recommendations, being genuinely caring as well as provided a whole binder of tips and ideas for our stay. Highly recommend - great location also.

What a wonderful way to start our adventure through Scotland! Such a cozy and lovely spot, with a bus stop right outside the door, making the whole city so readily accessible. Vivienne is an utter delight; very knowledgeable about the area, so very affable, and she has a laugh that will light up your day. Stay here if you want to feel like you’re at home… I literally started calling it home after our first night. Thank you Vivienne, I really hope we can stay in touch! Love Michael and Danielle.

Gem in Edinburgh. "This is like home away from home. I have high praises for this B&B. Once I made the reservations, the host contacted me to provide information on how to get to her property from the airport. Upon arrival I found her to be very personable, outgoing and accommodating. She happily shared invaluable suggestions for where to eat, local sites to see, and other places in Scotland that may be of interest. I would definitely recommend this B&B to anyone visiting the Edinburgh area."

Had a great weekend stay. The owners are friendly and warm, the accommodations were comfortable, and the location is good. Just a 20 min walk to the old town or take a quick bus ride. There is a bus stop that is very close with many buses heading towards the city centre. Will definitely stay here again the next time I'm in Edinburgh!

This place has Scottish tourist board 4 stars and is Ideal for , short breaks. It's near the University campus and thus perfect for parents visiting first yr. students. Full Scottish Breakfast and by the crags.

its just lovely, and well placed for the city. We had a great stay and would highly recommend others to seek this hidden gem.
