Shibuya Creston Hotel

The room key is a physical key instead of a card key and they ask to keep it in the front desk every time when a guest goes out. It's inconvenient and, most of all, felt like there's like no privacy. They would know when I’m in and out and who i am with. Although the location is good since it's close to Shibuya and there are convenience stores nearby. Room decor and facilities are somewhat old and outdated. There is no usb ports.

This is a slightly old-fashioned hotel on a quiet edge of the very busy Shibuya district. The room is ample by Tokyo standards, a good value for the price. It’s not fancy but everything is clean and works, and the staff is very pleasant and helpful. The downside is navigating the around Shibuya station to reach the hotel. An upside is being close to all that Shibuya offers, particularly excellent transportation.

Overall: this was a great hotel! Staff was kind, check in and check out was super easy, cleanliness was amazing, and the price was overall worth it (we paid $179.30 USD per night, booked through Klook). I left details about some super random things that were really not big issues but felt like it might be helpful to include. Would I book again? Yes, but I would look for another hotel with a room about the same size closer to Shibuya Station if I could. Location: super great location, it was about 10 - 15 minutes walking distance from many of the things we were interested in in Shibuya such as the famous Shibuya Crossing, Harajuku, Shibuya 109, Shibuya Tower, Pokemon Center, Nintendo Store, and Jump Shop to name a few but was also far enough away that we didn’t have to worry about it being super crowded around the hotel. However, there was not really a public bus or smaller subway station to get to places outside of Shibuya easily. For example, to go anywhere outside of Shibuya we had to walk the full 15 minutes to Shibuya Station (and it’s a bit of an uphill from the station to the hotel) which can feel pretty tiring after multiple long days of walking. Not the biggest inconvenience but in the future I think I would try to book a hotel closer to Shibuya Station or at least a smaller subway station so that the 15 min walk both ways isn’t required. Cleanliness: Super clean no issues here. We got a non-smoking room and it was nice because our floor did not smell like smoke (some hotels we stayed in even though we got a non-smoking room, the hallway would smell like cigarette smoke). Breakfast: we opted out of hotel breakfast Room Size: Japan hotel room sizes are small compared to US but this one was so BIG it felt great. There was the bed, a nice long desk along the back wall with a window, and then hallway space between the bed/bathroom/door which I bought a medium sized luggage bag (60x40x25 cm) and could easily open it on the floor space which is rare for Japanese hotel rooms. It felt great to just be able to throw all our luggage chaotically on the side and still feel like we had ample space to organize things later. Laundry: this was a slight drawback because they did not have coin laundry. Instead, they had a laundry service where it seemed like you had to pay per item. The average item such as a T-shirt/pants/blouse were ~100-150 yen each but after a few days of not doing laundry we felt like that could add up pretty quickly. The double downside was that the closest coin laundry place was ~8 min walk away from the hotel. We ended up going with the coin laundry option (wasn’t the worst thing in the world, because I went shopping at Mega Don Quixote which was down the street from the coin laundry to pass the time). Internet: not the fastest when watching YouTube videos BUT worked great when looking up basic info such as places to go and booking attractions/tickets for things. Temperature: okay this is a random category I know but some places we could not get the thermostat to work but this was great and we were able to set our room to the temperature we wanted it. Room Key: Another random thing is that they give you a physical room key (not a key card) but everytime you leave the hotel you just leave the room key with the front desk and when you return they give it back to you. There's someone there 24/7 so it was kind of nice to not have to worry about losing your key card. However, if my partner and I were separate, we would have to coordinate dropping off the key card or leaving the door propped open.

Very friendly service and a clean hotel in the center of downtown Tokyo Japan. We have been enjoying the hotel's great location by walking to many beautiful spots, restaurants and parks nearby.

Quiet and simple, the staff is very helpful, and the room is clean and functional. No control of the room air conditioner temperature or mode, only if it is on or off, but can always open the window if the room gets too stuffy. The location is nice, in Shibuya but not in the over crowded streets

It is an old style hotel. I liked the room and everything it came with. I just suggest that cleaning staff when cleaning, threw my pj on the tv. It could’ve been an accident that they forgot to fix after. Also I suggest putting more spoons or forks in the room. Other than that, expect a good clean room. They clean it well, and sanitize everything all the time. When you choose a non smoking room, really it is non smoking otherwise it is detected, so rather just choose a smoking room. Also, The location was quiet and very close to centre. The stores are all around. The staff is very helpful.

Great location, close to scramble but far enough away from all the crowds. Easy to walk everywhere. Great restaurants close by. Comfortable beds and nice shower. Very clean and wonderful service. Great breakfast experience.

We enjoyed our three night stay at the Shibuya Creston Hotel. We arrived early prior to our designated check in time and the front desk were kind to keep our baggage in their possession. Upon our return, our bags were ready in our assigned room. Check in was very prompt and all staff were courteous and polite with first class Japanese hospitality. Please note it is common for hotels to ask for and take a photocopy of your passports during registration. Note that the property will also collect a city tax upon arrival, so do not be alarmed of this small added cost.||Location is amazing and is a perfect walking distance to all of the hotspots in Shibuya as well as the train terminal. As a security measure, the front desk control all keys (physical metal lock manual type) and cross reference your name to the room. We found it simple and convenient as it does not require us to lug around keys as well as it employs an added measure of security. ||Room was generally clean overall; despite not being renovated to modern standard, we could tell they showed great effort and professionalism in keeping good order. We stayed at multiple hotels during our visit to Japan, and we can tell the difference between old and clean versus old and dirty. The room includes disposable slippers, use of nightwear, bidet with heated seat and complimentary bottled waters for each night of our stay. Despite the drawbacks of being a dated hotel and smaller room, we felt it was tremendous value for the Shibuya area if location is important, the room rate is fair for the area and staff were exceptional. On our Japan trip, we spent most of our days sightseeing and little time in the room, so this was a perfect spot for us to rest for the next day of adventures. This is a great hotel, perfectly located in Shibuya. Just far enough from the noise and traffic of people but close enough to walk a few blocks and you're right there. Clean, relatively modern, small-ish but comfortable rooms. Amazing bidet! I'm still blown away by the bidets in Tokyo. The staff here was very nice. I enjoyed the toiletry samples from the local skin care company, DHC. I would recommend this hotel for an affordable no frills stay.

Hotel Creston is a great get away from the main craziness of Shibuya. You're tucked right into the neighborhood edge. I like the walk and chill ness back here. It's very 70's vibe and the rooms are tiny and tight but the staff is very polite. Our friend intentionally left a ton of stuff behind, to toss-having received too much stuff during his travels. 2 years later...we arrive and they pull out all his stuff from before!! Lol! But hey! Is that service or what?!
