"Sushi in a Taiwanese Wet Market A-ji-shi is a stand-up sushi bar located in Taipei's Shidong Market. There's only a fixed menu and it is pricey by local standards. But the fish is fresh and the sushiman well-trained."

This is probably the cleanest market around. But I really don't enjoy any of the prepared foods I have had here.

First time come to this market. It’s like a fancy and better version of traditional markets in Taiwan. I was surprised and impressed by how clean it is. It’s dry, clean, smells nothing, and with air-con on. All you need is here! Also a great place for a quick bite. A great place to eat and the best indoor market in Taipei. You can get everything you need here. There is a food court, many options for eating on the second floor.

Day market on the first floor with clothing and other products on 2nd level. If you go, try the sushi stand on the 1st floor. Everything is awesome; the best miso soup I've had.

It is a very tidy and near wet market. In the middle of it, there is a small sushi bar with stand up seats only. The sushi/sashimi there are amazing and a must try! Go!

One of the best markets in Taipei. You can find mainly anything you want as food.

One of the cleanest air conditioner traditional market in Taiwan but stuff is not cheap

Air-conditioned indoor market of Taipei. Prices on a high side but for good reason. Quality of produce definitely there.

Yelp
This marker beats the stereotypes of an Asian market. It's very well organized and clean. No funky smell of poultry and fish. The food court upstairs offers variety of Taiwanese eateries The lower floor sells poultry, produces, and fish. Most places will accept cash only or some type of app pay. Overall, it's a 4.7 out of 5

Yelp
This market is considered the premier local place for small businesses to sell their goods and services. There are two floors to walk about. It has eateries, fish, meats, ready to eat takeout meals, grocery, beauty care, flowers & plants just to list a few. While venturing about, many shop owners are calling you to buy from them, sometimes offering a food sample to hook you and begin the reel in process. Look around before committing to a specific purchase as you could discover you paid 50 NTD more on a 250 NTD bar of soap from Italy like we did...Ugh!

Yelp
Been coming here since I was young and it has recently gotten a make over but the people are still the same and the food is still amazing! The first floor has cleaned up to look more modern and clean! Great place to buy fresh fruits, veggies, and ready made food! There are also great imported Japanese snacks and house items! Would recommend coming here for more than one meal because there are so many great food vendor!! The market isn't too big so you can take a quick walk around before deciding what you want to buy/eat. Downstairs there is a vendor who sells buns! They've been in business for a very long time and their buns have various flavors such as strawberry, chocolate, taro, and etc. These buns can last for a long time especially if you store them in the freezer. Upstairs there are various Taiwanese food vendors that have some of the most authentic Taiwanese food. This would be the place to order pork intestines and pork blood soup! (Super fresh and very cheap at 方媽媽小吃店!) Also another favorite is 米粉湯! You'll find this place because it is always packed!! They're always busy but their noodles, tofu, and pork are all so fresh. There are two coffee/tea shops that make fresh juices! You can ask them to customize the sugar & ice levels! If you are looking for a specific vendor or store and can't find it, just ask the people there!!

Yelp
士東市場二樓 No. 145 - "鮭魚之家" - a sneaky and dishonest stall. This is one of my biggest (only) disappointment during my trip to my homeland Taiwan. After many friends recommendations, I finally went to this indoor market for the first time late yesterday afternoon 8/17/18. Strolled for a while and decided to try out this look delicious steamed-egg and bitter melon trays but rather expensive stall - "Home of Salmon". Thought of the uniqueness, I ordered the salmon and pork (main) dishes which also came with 4 different vegetables dishes in paper box each. The lady employee cautiously and stingily picked surprisingly small portions to my boxes according to my instructions. I could not see how they prepared my two main dishes as the lady boss prepared them with her back facing the front of the stall. I later found out with shocking disappointment when I returned to my place opened the boxes! A few pieces of deep fried salmon and pork. However, this wasn't the reason that I wanted to reveal this stall. The total bill for the two meal boxes was $240 for $120 each. So I gave the lady employee $1040 and waited for the change. She went behind the counter where I could not see and took rather a long time. I felt a bit strange what would took her such a long to give me the change. I guessed that she was trying figured out how much was the exact change. (This is very rare in Taiwan. (One of the amazing things for any food stalls, restaurants or stores, employee's mental calculation and efficiency are always speedy and superiorly accurate. They would never need to use calculators! Period.) Anyway, I was expecting one $500 and three $100 denominations normally. Instead, she gave me bunch of wrinkled $100 paper bills. So I grew curiously and decided to count them. Unexpectedly, there were only seven pieces of $100 bills. So I told the lady who already went to the other corner to deal with another customer. Without any hesitation, instead of handing me with two hands and an apology (like a accidental mistake that any one would react), she angrily threw a $100 bill on the table. It certainly looked like she knew that she got caught of scheming and cheating customer. For years since my first return, this is the first time I've ever encountered such dishonesty. Taiwanese has established a reputation of being a friendly and sincerely people despite of politically being pushed around internationally. Nonetheless, the majority of Taiwanese people maintained high enthusiasm and spirit in their life which is very admirable and respectable. This is quite an disappointment although must be a simply isolated incident. But I felt compelled to let potential customers to be aware if people are going to visit this otherwise a traditional but innovated ShiDong Market. There is still dishonest merchants who still try to scheme for petty money and hope to get away with it. It seemed to be a very tiny event. But it reflected the ugly part of human's darkness. That is really sad !
