"Set in a refurbished Victorian hunting lodge on a 26,000-acre estate, Shieldaig Lodge is the epitome of Highland romance. With everything from breathtaking views of Shieldaig Bay to log fires, cozy lounges, and an extensive whisky and gin collection, the hotel offers Scottish hospitality at its finest, surrounded by stunning scenery. Quietly elegant, the 12 guest rooms come furnished with antiques and luxurious touches like Egyptian cotton sheets, goose-down duvets, and homemade shortbread from the hotel’s kitchen. For utter opulence, book the suite, which features a four-poster bed, separate sitting room, and rolltop tub with views of the bay. At the restaurant, rare-breed lamb, Highland cattle, and deer from the hotel’s estate provide the raw ingredients for the sumptuous menu. Also available are crabs, lobster, langoustines, oysters, and scallops caught by hand right in front of the property, and vegetables grown in the on-site walled garden. After dinner, grab a nightcap in the Liberator Bar, which stocks an ever-growing collection of more than 110 gins and 250 whiskies from around the world. The next day, visit the lodge’s falconry (home to eagles, falcons, hawks, and owls), or have the concierge arrange a local activity, from deerstalking and fly-fishing to hiking, boating, and pony trekking."

We had a really wonderful meal at Shieldaig Lodge for my birthday last night. We pre-booked a tasting menu to cater for various diets etc for 6 of us. The chef and his team created a wonderful tasting menu. A delicious meal of really interesting flavours and foods for me and my husband who are vegetarians. Our friends who eat meat and fish really enjoyed their menus too, and enjoyed the scallops and pheasant particularly. The service was really good - attentive but not obtrusive - we felt really well looked after from start to finish. Thank you for a wonderful birthday experience for me and a lovely evening for the whole party.

We had a one-night stay in this beautiful hotel, and enjoyed a delicious evening meal. However, we were disappointed that the bath was dirty on arrival, the body wash was empty, and the windows were dripping with condensation. When raising these issues, staff said they would look into it after we left and offered no compensation. We were further surprised by the hidden costs on our final bill, including mandatory service charges for use of the bar and the restaurant which had not been mentioned. Our impression was that the price did not reflect the quality of service for this stay - a disappointing experience given the luxurious reputation of the Shieldaig Lodge.

Location and hikes in the area are excellent and some staff like David professional and proactive. Restaurant food at dinner and breakfast very good too. We disliked the 12.5 % service charge applied given we poured our own wine and water was never filled at dinner. We stayed on the first floor and carried our own bags up and back on check in and check out. I can’t understand the discretionary service charge except a gouge. Left a bad taste after and excellent stay. WiFi is slow and drops out regularly.

A beautiful little castle transformed into a charming hotel with just 12 rooms. The setting is absolutely stunning—right on the bay. The food served on-site is excellent, both at dinner and breakfast. The management is exceptionally attentive, making sure every guest has a perfect stay.||We stayed in Room 12, a small room tucked just beneath the roof. It was simple yet cozy, tastefully decorated, with a lovely bathroom and an excellent shower.||We absolutely loved our stay and would definitely come again!

My wife and I went to Shieldaig Lodge with our dog for a four day break early in July 2025. From the moment of arrival and through to checking out, the staff were fantastic, especially the young gentleman with the glasses who made us feel welcome throughout our stay.||The grounds to the lodge and the local area is beautiful, and we would recommend anyone to visit the Applecross Inn from here as well for a fantastic driving route. Of course, this was recommended in the information pack within our room and the information was very helpful.||The lodge is a beautiful building, comfortable and cosy, with a lovely bar area that we ate in due to having our dog with us. Not an issue and it was a comfortable area to sit. Drink choices for whisky and gin drinkers are fantastic, but for beer and wine drinkers, it may be a bit limited. Hey, that is our preferences and being remote, you cannot cater for everyone.||We had the pet getaway package and were pleased with the value for money, however, we would not choose to dine here every night. That is purely down to our preferences and not a reflection on the food, however, my wife struggled with some of the meal choices. It has to be stated that alternatives were offered, for example, beef to replace pheasant one night, and we are thankful to the staff for arranging this.||Our room was clean, comfortable and the pillows (I would love to know where you buy these from as I would buy some for my home) are very comfortable. We slept well. The rooms are not spotless in terms of some marks on windows etc, but this is a lodge and after staying previously at the Rudloe Hotel in Bath, this is part of the charm.||Overall, a fantastic stay, great staff, great location and in our opinion great value.||We will come back again and look forward to returning to the lodge.

We had a nice four night stay during a week trip in the highlands. The most important thing to note is that the hotel is vastly overpriced both for the rooms and for the food - other reviews are being fair. If you’re willing to let that slide then the location is wonderful for exploring the area and the view out the front of the building is very pretty. For dinner, the food is unfortunately just not good enough to ask for the price that’s charged. Eat at the Baddachro Inn nearby instead, it’s much better value. Breakfast was nice but could do with more variety. The bar is very uninviting and needs much nicer furniture, we didn’t want to spend any time in it which feels wrong for a bar in an expensive hotel. We stayed in a ‘cozy’ room. We did not expect it to be big and it wasn’t, but that was fine and the room was generally in good condition. I did expect to be able to fit on the bed, which I couldn’t. I am over 6ft but the bed was weirdly short and I had to curl up a fair amount so my legs fit on. The staff were all very friendly and kind, wouldn’t fault them at all. Having a falconry attached is a nice touch for anyone who’s a fan of birds of prey.

Well what can I say about Shieldaig Lodge… it is situated just down from the stunning Gairloch Beach. Upon arrival we checked in easily, rooms were spotless and well equipped with amenities. The whole place has a traditional scottish “old money” style feel about it. We choose to dine in the restaurant and what an experience it was. All the food is local and i can only describe it as a fine dining experience. We finished the evening with a couple of whiskies in the bar area and left a bit more educated on the topic thanks to the barman! Overall an amazing experience.

Lovely hotel staff where great and very accommodating to our Labrador. We booked last minute after being let down by other accommodation. Thankfully they had space, food was really nice. Not the cheapest but not terrible for the location.
