At Shikairou Chinese Restaurant in Nagasaki, I tried their renowned Champon noodles (¥1320) after a 1.5-hour wait, drawn by the specialty and stunning port views. Champon, inspired by the Fujian dish "Tang Rou Si Noodles," was innovated by Shikairou’s founder into a rich, hearty Japanese-style soup. The thick, chewy noodles paired perfectly with the savoury chicken and pork bone broth, enhanced by a smoky wok hei from high-heat cooking. The portion was generous, making it a satisfying meal.
For dessert, I enjoyed the Almond Jelly (¥660), a traditional, soft, and silky almond pudding, which was a refreshing and delightful end to the meal. Despite the wait, the combination of delicious food and scenic views made it a worthwhile experience.
