7 modern Indian restaurants in Singapore that are redefining the cuisine - SilverKris

"Evoking Raj-era grand feasts with plush animal-print seating, hunting murals and gilded accents, this restaurant channels the opulence of royal Indian banquets under Head Chef Surjan Singh (Chef Jolly), who was trained in royal court kitchens. The menu is built for communal, large-format dining with charcoal tandoor and josper-grill highlights such as lotus-leaf roasted whole fish with tamarind, chillies and a caramelised onion-tomato rub, Hawke’s Bay red deer tenderloin, and coastal curries like black tiger prawns, mussels and scallops in a creamy coconut base, all designed to recreate the scale and flavour of historic feasts." - Dinesh Ajith

11 fancy set lunch menus to try in Singapore - SilverKris

"A refined Indian restaurant inspired by aristocratic banquets, offering a Lunch Thali set (S$55++; S$59++ with dessert) that blends traditional flavours with progressive techniques. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian thalis present an array of classic delicacies—examples include tandoor-roasted paneer, curd-cheese kufte (meatballs), black tiger prawns and pot-roasted lamb—served with soft naan and sides such as stir-fried okra. The menu aims to deliver an opulent, royal-feeling midday feast at a reasonable price point." - SilverKris

We had a Diwali four course meal. It was delicious but left us hungry and it was just not enough because portions were very small. We had to order another dish from Ala Carte and then we were fine. The Diwali dinner menu was about 200$ per person. Service and atmosphere is absolutely excellent. David was tending to our table and he was very attentive and friendly.

Sue, Dave, David of Shikar were amazing in ensuring my entire team of ~20 had a great time. From the service to the decor to all the dishes served, it was out of this world. Love the butter chicken, the green spicy sauce-gravy (sorry dont know the name), seabass, breads, everything!! Will definitely be back! :)

Nice environment, excellent food, decent service. I appreciate the overall decor of the hotel. The tasting menu is a good option and the portion is not that big. The cocktails are worth trying too.

We went to Shikar Singapore yesterday to celebrate Mrs. Thevar’s birthday, and honestly, it was the best dining experience my family has ever had. There were four of us, and we started with the Lamb Pate Gilawat, Crisp Soft Shell Crab, and Smoked Paprika Papadums. For mains, we enjoyed the Chicken Makhani with Garlic Butter Naans, along with two Suntory Malt Draught Beers and one Asahi Beer. The food was simply perfect — rich in flavour, perfectly cooked, and beautifully plated. But what really made the evening unforgettable was the service. From the second we stepped in until the moment we left, we were treated like royalty. David, Sue, Keshav, and Roy took great care of us and a special shoutout to David, whose warmth and attentiveness made us feel truly special. The ambience was classy yet cozy, and it set the tone for such a memorable celebration. My family is still raving about it! I was so impressed that before leaving, I made another reservation for Deepavali. I have no doubt that the friend I’ll be bringing then will be just as blown away as we were. Shikar really knows how to deliver not just food, but an experience. Highly recommended!

The servers were attentive and kindly introduced the star dishes, we loved how flavourful the broccoli was and butter chicken goes nicely with the naan! The interior design of the restaurant was stunning too

A Stunning Colonial Escape for Dinner Dates and Group Celebrations. Get ready to time travel when you are here. Shikar (the Hunt)is one of the most beautifully and artistically designed restaurants I’ve seen in Singapore. Inspired by colonial British design, the interiors are elegant, richly detailed, and perfect for a large group setting or special gathering. The space strikes the right balance between opulence and warmth, making it ideal for both celebrations and more intimate occasions. Their wine selection is one of the most extensive I’ve come across, and the service led by David and his team was nothing short of exceptional. We visited on a quiet Sunday evening, and the relaxed atmosphere made our celebration all the more memorable. We were truly pampered by the team’s attentive and friendly service. The menu is thoughtfully curated, offering a refined take on Indian cuisine that feels more authentic and flavourful than many others we’ve tried in Singapore. The portions were generous. We ended up taking some home, which we thoroughly enjoyed the next day. Shikar is a gem. We’ll definitely be back.

We had our family dinner at Shikar Restaurant last evening to celebrate (early) Father’s Day. While the ambience was absolutely spectacular — truly the highlight of the evening and worth experiencing — the rest of the experience fell short of expectations, especially given the price point of around $120 per pax. The food was just fine, but nothing to shout for. We expected more refinement and freshness for this tier of dining. The grilled wild-caught tiger prawns, in particular, were noticeably not fresh, which was quite disappointing. Service was average at best. We had to ask several times just to have our water refilled, and overall attentiveness was lacking. That said, if you’re looking for a stunning setting and a place that impresses visually, Shikar delivers. But if you’re seeking a full fine dining experience with equally impressive food and service, it may not quite hit the mark.
