Shimbashi Soba & Sake Bar - Carlton North

Honestly some of the best vegan soba I ever had. I ordered the warm soba, red vegan soy soup and it was delicious! It had two types of tofu, soy mince, cabbage and mushrooms. Filling and the right amount of spice. The window seats we had were just the perfect seating for two people. I will be back for sure!

Amazing Soba noodles and Soba salad. Happy hours Sake, what more could you ask for. I would highly recommend this place for lunch, super tasty and authentic Japanese food. I loved it!

Whole family enjoyed the meals which were all very tasty. Salmon sushi bowl, cold soba dishes, salmon sushi and chicken katsu curry don were all of good quality. The double tea ice creams were the highlight. It is rare that my husband wants up revisit a place for meals and he already made up his mind this was a restaurant at would return to before he even finished his meal. Sake options also really awesome and good value (go for the flight of 5)

Magnificent. I’m Coeliac so 100% gluten free places are great. The food here was quite simply perfect, reminded me of the food in Japan, there was some GF places, and Japanese food is so good. Staff helpful and the coffee great too. We will be back.

🥢 After reading the book "Soba: So Good" displayed on the bookshelf, I felt positive about the restaurant. Unfortunately, the soba did not live up to the book's description of being "sweet and fresh." Instead, it tasted very dry and artificial. Additionally, the salad and sesame dressings overshadowed the flavors of the egg and salmon. I’d describe it as a modern, Westernized poke bowl-style soba rather than the authentic soba I was hoping for. Furthermore, the deep-fried lotus root tasted like cardboard… 💁🏻‍♀️The staff was too busy and did not notice me requesting to add one more dish. 🪑 the space is quite tight and very noisy. Overall it feels overpriced and underwhelming…

Beautifully presented restaurant/cafe... The menus, venue, decor etc excellent. The food was tasty and ample servings, but I only gave 4* because I don't fully understand the food. To my palette the flavour was mostly salt. Fast and efficient service. I had a soba. Was not cheap.

Staff were so polite, soft-spoken and pleasant. Overwhelmed with delicious tasty options for both vegan and meat/seafood options. Whole menu is completely dairy-free, gluten-free and nut-free. Each item on the menu has a meat and Vego/vegan option. Perfect portioned meals. Noodles are freshly made in house daily!
