Found this lil gem on my gluten free app. I enjoyed my meal and the music. The staff was knowledgeable about gluten free and best part was I had a vegan meal with lots of flavor and immunity shot. I love Morro Bay and can’t wait to try the buckwheat pancakes.

Google
So many amazing looking options for vegans! We tried the tempeh taco, jackfruit tacos, and island smoothie. Everything was so good. The tempeh taco looks more like a large salad with a taco on the side. The cilantro cream dressing was delicious. Everything we got had lots of flavor and felt like you were eating something nourishing. Very casual eating environment, which we liked. Highly recommend!

Great vibe. Food is wonderful. The Tempe Rueben and spring rolls are amazing. Everything tastes very fresh. Friendly service and excellent atmosphere. Will be back!!

Visited Shine Cafe and found it to be just okay. The food was pretty average – I tried the TLT and a bagel, and while they were both edible, neither had much flavor to speak of. It felt like something was missing that could have made the dishes stand out. The atmosphere didn’t help either; none of the staff seemed particularly enthusiastic, which took away from the overall vibe. Overall, it’s an acceptable spot if you’re in a pinch, but there’s nothing here that would make me rush back.

Incredible, incredible, incredible! On holiday and for me, trying to find a good vegan meal is like searching for the Holy Grail! And boy did the tempeh tacos deliver! Literally can't get any fresher veggies, which were piled higher that Bishop's peak (locals will appreciate the reference)! It was 20 minutes of enjoying all the yummy veggies and then was like oh yeah, have discovered the tempeh tacos finally! Not a criticism but just pointing out how big of a serve they give you. I desperately want to go back but live very far out of town. If I were a local, this eatery would quickly become one of my regular go-to spots!

Google
We ordered the tempeh tacos, black bean tostada, jackfruit carnitas street tacos, t.l.t., Asian slaw salad and spring rolls. The Asian salad was drenched in dressing, way too much. The spring rolls fell apart so easily. Maybe they should be double wrapped. The tacos lacked flavor or some seasoning. The only dish that was finished was the t.l.t. Disappointing meals. FYI any order over $80 has a 20% additional surcharge. So the meal came out to almost $120 for 4 people and 3 drinks. Not worth it.

Google
Lovely place with lots of vegan options Loved it. The juice blends were refreshing fresh and great combinations. The breakfast taco was extremely flavourful and it was great to have a vegan pancake which was made with healthy buckwheat. The bagel sandwich was delicious too. We took a take out of vegan tiramisu and chocolate and strawberry balls which was awesome. Love this small vegan vegetarian cafe with its lovely friendly staff and service. Must visit if in Morro bay.

We were on our winding way down HWY 1, from ragged point to San Luis Obispo. We called into shine, they answered the phone with a bright attitude 😁. We placed our order for fresh tasty vegan specials and ate it over by the Docks. Very impressed with the flavors they pack into the tacos! I would love if they could update menu items on the website, I was not aware they had Jackfruit tacos 🌮 until I arrived 😔.

Yelp
My favorite plant-based food in the area! It's fresh, consistent and delicious. Service is always great too. My favorites: the Tempeh Taco, Spring Rolls or the Tempeh Reuben.

Sanaz S.

Yelp
When I said I like crunchy things, I didn't mean as in crunching dirty lettuce and greens in my food. Unfortunately, my recent dining experience at Shine was a bummer due to 3 different items we ordered - all with greens as an ingredient- were dirty. We bit into crunchy dirt multiple times before being so grossed out and taking our food back to the counter. One employee at the counter looked at me blankly like she could care less, and the other was helpful and returned our money. She also mentioned that it had happened a few days prior for another customer. We didn't order anything in replacement as we were wary of any other mishaps, so we went elsewhere and had a redemption meal.

Yelp
Shine Cafe is a true gem in Morro Bay! If you're looking for delicious, wholesome food that leaves you feeling amazing, this is the place to go. Their plant-based menu is bursting with flavor and creativity, and everything is so fresh it's like they just picked it from the garden. The vibe is cozy and relaxed, perfect for a casual meal or even a peaceful solo lunch. My personal favorites are Black Bean Tostada and Tempeh Taco, but honestly, you can't go wrong with anything here. Shine Cafe is a must-visit if you're in Morro Bay

Rachel G.

Yelp
My favorite plant-based/vegan restaurant in SLO county! Shine Cafe is the perfect spot for a casual lunch and healthy takeout food. The staff is friendly, the service is quick, and the food always tastes fresh. The cafe is quaint with both indoor/outdoor seating options. You order at the counter and they bring your food out to you when it's ready. The Vegetable Spring rolls are HUGE and are a must-order menu item!! The seasoned tempeh has a great flavor, the carrots/red cabbage add a nice crunch, and the avocado & sesame ginger dressing are delicious. I highly recommend ordering these. I am not vegan, but I have thoroughly enjoyed all the entrees I have tried here. If you are looking for a lunch spot with nutrient dense, filling, high quality foods, Shine Cafe should be on your list! I definitely will be back to try more menu items.

Will T.

Yelp
Purely vegan restaurant with great portions. Outdoor seating was also available on the street, but it was too cold for us. Prices were very reasonable.

Missy H.

Yelp
The sandwiches & salads here are delicious! Their tasty "shine" dressing is made fresh, & all foods are made to order once you pay at the counter. Vegan & vegetarian choices. Our favorite is the "reuben" sandwich-comes with a side salad of mixed greens & their signature dressing. Lots of other options & smoothies seem to be very popular here. Friendly staff. Indoor & outdoor seating is available. Right next to a well stocked health store/market. Great for lunch! (805)771-8344 Open 7 days a week 11a-5p (10-4 Sun)

Yelp
I got a juice a this place. It was called Fog catcher. It had carrots, Beet, celery, lemon, garlic, and ginger!! Let me tell you!! After I drank it I felt very revitalize. My body was very grateful! Service was fast and price very reasonable. The ambiance it's very casual and welcoming. Definitely coming back tomorrow morning before we leave. Sorry. I didn't get a picture of my juice or the place. I will added later.

Rox P.

Yelp
Delicious food. Kind service. What a gem for morro bay and the central coast. Had the açaí smoothies, pumpkin smoothie, kids burrito, and the tempeh taco. Love that they have kids menu. They do not have Açaí bowls, the images on the yelp for the menu are old and they no longer make the bowls.

Rhombie S.

Yelp
Fresh food that is full of flavor. Every bite of the Vegetable spring roll was delicious.

Joana E.

Yelp
The spring roll is a must! The avocado toast was delicious too! The price is reasonable and worth every bite!

Ryan N.

Yelp
Excellent vegan options, with a varied menu. The Indian curry lentil soup was great. My wife also loved the bagel sandwich. Will definitely return.

Christine M.

Yelp
Quirky/delicious vegetarian restaurant with great prices. Definitely gets busy on weekends. Sometimes I'll order ahead of time if I don't want to wait.

Josh P.

Yelp
Hidden gem in morro bay! Love the spring rolls and smoothies! This is a must if you're in Morro Bay for lunch!

Charlene C.

Yelp
My husband and I were staying at a house nearby for my birthday. I noticed this place and bookmarked it on Yelp. Neither of us are vegan but we try to make a point to eat healthier when we are on vacation. We actually came here twice and called ahead both times. The recommendations on Yelp were spot on. We really loved their Famous Tempeh Tacos and the Vegetable Spring Rolls; lots of flavor, bright and colorful, and fresh. We just wish we have something like this closer to home, but if we're in the area again, we'd definitely stop it.

David N.

Yelp
This place is a total gem. The food is interesting and clearly "cooked with love". I actually do not enjoy tempeh, but tried it here and they have managed to make it tasty (magic?). Also don't miss the soup.

Srini V.

Yelp
Excellent and healthy food. Sumptuous portions. Decent price. Plenty of choices. Food is also made with healthy and local ingredients without compromising on taste. It is not of the kind that makes you feel hungry in a short time after eating. I see a lot of patrons at the place. The service was very professional. Yet the food came fast and was well assembled. I liked the plenty of different hot sauces they had for spice craving people like me. I am glad I found this place on yelp. This was my second visit. Thanks to the entire team for serving healthy food to visitors.

Catherine T.

Yelp
Such an unassuming place with flavorful nutrient packed food. So far I have only tried the salads but they are so good! Treat yourself to this for lunch once a week!

Laura B.

Yelp
I stayed in Morro Bay for 2 days and ate at Shine Cafe twice, that's how good it was. Both times I got the TLT sandwich. It was so good!!! It comes with a small salad. The dressing was amazing. If I live in Morro Bay, this place would be my home away from home!! Service was good, too!!

Christina C.

Yelp
The spring rolls are amazing! That sauce... (drooling) The tempeh taco is also delicious, same filling as the spring rolls. It's only one taco though, covered with salad.

Esther S.

Yelp
Amazing!! It's hard taking both sets of grandparents out for holiday.... I'm eager to please everyone and after a weekend of a lot of tasty but heavy foods in Pismo, I knew both sets of grandparents were probably hankering for something healthy, full of veggies. But going full vegan can be risky at times, many people balk at the idea of a meal without meat! The price looked reasonable as well and there was outdoor seating which was a must for our cautious older folks. I brought the folks to the menu outside and explained to them what it was. We ordered six different things off the menu at the counter and brought our card to our table outside. This place exceeded all our expectations. Everything we tasted from the menu was delicious, particularly the spring rolls were tastier than I anticipated, they were full and bursting with rich avocado. The dressing was just right and the rice paper was particularly nice in texture and the freshness of all the vegetables was just right. I felt like a content Goldilocks! My husband also said the jackfruit tacos were great and we have had jackfruit tacos before. He said these were much better. I enjoyed my black bean "taco", more like a pile of colorful veg on a hiding taco lol that you dig into with a fork. Also got a sunrise smoothie for the baby, which tasted a little like the Jamba surf rider but much better. If we are in the area again we will definitely be back!

Sarah J.

Yelp
Stopped to eat here on our road trip to Paso from LA to see the otters play and stretch our legs. Great spot, organic vegan health food, generous portions and good prices. Service was fast, only downfall has having to leave our dog in the car, but we understand. Looking forward to visiting again.

Celina S.

Yelp
We got the açaí bowl, TLT sandwich, jackfruit tacos, and vegetable spring rolls. The açaí bowl was solid and a generous size, what you would expect and you get to pick your toppings. TLT sandwich was also filling, and the spring rolls were super packed with avocado and veggies. The dipping sauce it comes with was also very good. We were full by the end, even after finishing a long hike! And not the gross type of full :)

Tara S.

Yelp
Too crunchy for me. Always dirty inside, smells. Dining room is claustrophobic. Staff are high, slow, get confused easily. I do not like those buckwheat pancakes. The fresh juices are fine, but not after waiting 30 minutes! Food is way too slow, mediocre, and expensive to be worth the trouble. I've tried a half dozen times and give up. And I'm a liberal hippie local so...‍

Annette T.

Yelp
I make it a thing to always go here when I'm in Morro Bay. Best vegan food all around. Delicious and healthy, unlike some of the junk vegan food out there. I shared a couple plates with my friends. The favorites are the spring rolls and the jackfruit tacos. The dip for the spring rolls is SO GOOD. Had the reuben for the first time and it was ok. The tempeh tacos were good but when it first came out, we thought it was a salad because everything else is buried beneath. It had the same ingredients as the spring rolls though and was still delicious. Can't wait for my next outing to Morro Bay just so I can go here!!

Bridget W.

Yelp
Shine Cafe is one of those places I'm thrilled that exists in an otherwise seafood heavy town. I've been a few times now over the years and the food is always reliably good. The prices are reasonable given it's an order at the counter place with some sidewalk tables and chairs out front. You're given a cute animal card as opposed to a number and they'll bring your food out, but it's otherwise a self-serve place the rest of the way with grab your own napkins, plastic utensils, etc. On my most recent visit I ordered Carlos's Ranchero and the avocado toast for my friend and I to share. I felt the flavor of the ranchero was muted and the salsa served with it tasted unfortunately like pace picante - I wouldn't order it again. The avocado toast, however, was pretty good (I especially liked the dukkah spice they put on it) but would have preferred the avocado to be mashed onto the toast instead of thickly sliced to make it a bit easier to handle. All in all, this is a good spot to get some healthy breakfast or lunch when visiting Morro Bay and it happens to also be conveniently located next to a great natural foods store.

Maurice L.

Yelp
My favorite restaurant for many years. The highlights are pancakes, scrambles, soups, and bowls.

Marinate G.

Yelp
Oh my! Delicious, healthy, hearty food served at this darling cafe. Excellent selection of beverages and a pretty extensive menu. We loved that everything is plant-based but even folks who aren't vegan found the dishes to be wonderful. Wish we lived closer so we could eat here all the time!

Chris T.

Yelp
I love small independently owned businesses that are focused and try to make the world a better and healthier place. Yelp brought me to Shine and I'm grateful they did! This is a small but comfortable restaurant with a staff that seems to work together really well. They gel. The food was so good we came back the next day. The hummus wrap was huge, the TLT was also great. The Reuben was ok. The produce was some of the freshest I've had. The Creamsicle juice was delicious as was the Green Dragon. Highly recommended is you like vegetarian and vegan food.

Honey B.

Yelp
Vegan jack fruit tacos were amazing with the morning glory juice never hesitate to eat here.

Jon E.

Yelp
Food is always great here! I have ordered most of the stuff on the menu. I love the Tempeh Salad, Spring Rolls and Black Bean tostada. The smoothies and bowls and soups are great also. The service has always been fast and efficient even when they are very busy. You can call in to go orders, or come order at the counter. The ambiance is casual and I normally go next door to the market after I order to get my drink and anything else I might need. I have tried many other vegetarian places when out if the area. I always end up comparing them to this place. The tempeh is so good I sometimes get an extra side if it for later! Thank you to Grey and Tanner for running a top if the line establishment! Your hard work procuring all the fresh produce at farmers markets really pays off! Keep up the good work!

Culi T.

Yelp
Very unique vegan dining experience. The portion sizes are massive and there's a large variety of dishes to choose from

Johanna S.

Yelp
I stumbled into the juice bar, hoping for a cure for my winter cold. And hallelujah... the very nice juicer went above and beyond to help me out. She excitedly fixed me a celery juice with bonus ingredients of cayenne, oregano oil and more. I immediately felt better, thanks to the juice and their kindness.

J P.

Yelp
The very best tempeh I've had in my life. This place is so good that I deeply regret not getting extra dishes to take home. I had the TLT (tempeh, lettuce, tomato), the vegan take on BLT. My husband has a black bean taco (more like a salad as it says on the menu) and the seasoning and brown rice was cooked to perfection. Try the mudslide smoothie for healthy take on chocolate shake. I would to Morro Bay for their food. Can't wait to go back

Rose C.

Yelp
I mostly come for the smoothies, but the food is great too. I love the karma chameleon, but with added ginger.

April B.

Yelp
Smoothies! $10 each They do close on Sundays at 4pm....which seems so early.... The doorway is very narrow but go down the hall and you want find the healthy goodness! The Karma smoothie with greens and coconut super good Most every smoothie has banana but they do make adjustments There are not very many tables so you may want to grab and go sit by the water Street parking and next to a health market too

Shweta S.

Yelp
This spot is a heaven if you are looking for plant-based food. It's part of Sunshine, and Shine cafe serves great vegan food using local and organic ingredients. They also have some gluten-free options. Indoor seating is closed but they have few tables outside so that worked out perfectly. We got their Black bean toastada and tempeh taco. Both dishes were delicious, so fresh and so good. Also we tried one of their juices and it was great too. The food came in compostable paper box so that was great. I can't wait to be back here and if you are passing the area or staying here, definitely add this to your list.

Bruce A.

Yelp
The only thing that makes me sad is that we live four hours away, cause otherwise we would be here all the time!

Fionna L.

Yelp
They were busy on Saturday at around 1pm, with a 15 minute line and a 15-20 minute wait for food during which I browsed the thrift stores across the street. Street parking only with several small tables available for outdoor seating. Flavorful dressings made them shine (no pun intended) but I found their food to be just average. - Famous Tempeh Taco: $10: too much salad is not necessarily a good thing because though fresh, it was all the same and I found the Creamy Cilantro dressing nondescript after awhile. The excavated seasoned tempeh was soft and almost creamy with a warm and salty curry flavor that rapidly became one dimensional. Unfortunately, the tortilla and salsa did not add much. I feel like this dish required so much chewing and suffered from a lack of textural variation. - Vegetable spring roll: $4/1 roll or $10/3 rolls: this was the exact same spring mix salad and tempeh in a rice paper wrap. It was paired with their Sesame Ginger dressing which was light, rich, salty and just a little sweet (and kept well in the fridge!). Everything tasted great on first bite but dully tiring towards the second half. I feel like my tastebuds just ran a marathon. At least it was healthy, local and good quality!

Allyson U.

Yelp
Stopped through town and picked up some lunch. My friend and I separately ordered at their doorway cash register area. I ordered a mint forest juice and the soup/salad combo with the broccoli soup and tamarind lime dressing. We waited about 10 minutes until our food was ready and left to lunch at the nearby park. Once we arrived at the park picnic bench, we unpacked the goodies. The tempeh tacos looked a lot like the salad, which I thought was delightfully funny. My companion had to dig through the salad to find the taco. I had a bit of the tempeh and it brought nice texture to the salad. The soup was delicious, and it's a big portion. I ended up eating the whole thing, but if I had a fridge, I'd probably save half for later. The salad was nice, refreshing, and huge. I wish it came with a grain or nuts as the texture a little boring and a bit more salad. Both juices were excellent! I was worried the mint would overpower, but it was perfectly balanced. Note: if you don't have cash, tell them the tip amount so they can add it. There's no way to tip after the card is swiped.

Zeke S.

Yelp
Im not a vegan however I am a sucker for shines vegan menu. It's nice to change things up sometimes and the food tastes very fresh. People are nice which adds to the experience here.

Don B.

Yelp
Stopped by Shine Cafe based off reviews and proximity as we returned from Hearst Castle and a visit to Morro Rock. We try to visit local eateries vs chain fast food. We popped in 15 minutes before closing and they were kind enough to oblige. The vibe was laid back and indie music current with the Walters and Alex G. We ordered the Shine Sandwich and spring roll, and headed to the rock to chill. The toasted sandwich was perfect with a side salad and creamy cilantro dressing. The spring roll was filling with perfect portioning. Thanks Shine for the delicious options and we hope more travelers stop by!!

Heather O.

Yelp
The best place to eat a whole food plant based meal! Outdoor and indoor dining. Creative menu items. My favorites are the the Famous Tempeh Taco and the Spring Roll, a meal in itself. They make the best soups too!

Vidya R.

Yelp
Cute vegan cafe with eclectic charm, and food to die for(but no one did, cause its entirely vegan, hah). Ok i'll hold off on being sassy, but dont hold off on being saucy, at least not in a place that has the most scrumptious housemade dips. Get these dips on the side of their famous tempeh tacos, their black bean toastadas, or their colorful rainbow salads- the best dishes from the lot our group tried. Another highlight for me was their really smoothie bar. I loved their green smoothie, It was remarkably similar to the one i make myself at home (ginger, lemongrass and celery will heal anything, quote me). Someone else at my table got the acaii bowl which was well made too. I really can't think of one single dish that didn't hit the spot while also being so good for you. They also have healthy snacks you can grab for the road! The cafe is priced affordably for a place that makes high quality, scrumptious, nutritional and fully vegan meals. It's set in an alley teeming with health food stores, vintage boutiques, and coffeeshops, so make an afternoon of it.

O M G.

Yelp
Vegans are limited in Morro Bay. Places may have a veggie burger.. or options like Thai or Middle Eastern but I'm a fan of Shine Cafe because I like me a fully vegan/vegetarian that touts local this and that.. Indoor/Outdoor Seating Self serve water Order and pay inside and they'll bring your food to your table. We have a dog so we sat outside at a table on declining pavement. It was a slight slope. Not all tables outside were like that. We did get shade from the tree so.. there's that. The food was good. The Famous Tempeh Tacos aren't really tacos. Sure there's tortillas laid flat on the bottom but the innards of what would have been inside said tacos was covering it and the majority of the plate. Tasted great but I would say ask for the tortillas on the side. Then it's available for you to stuff and eat like a taco.

Mary Jo T.

Yelp
It's time for me to give credit, where credit is due! GREAT quality, organic food! When we come to the coast, we HAVE to order the BASEBALL sized spring rolls (How DO they roll these?). Included with the ADDICTIVE sesame/ginger sauce! You know? They really NEED to sell tubs of that sauce! But don't order these on a 'date' . . . it will be all over your face. And you may not care! One cool trick I discovered in HOW to eat them is this; Stick the pieces of lettuce TO the rice paper instead of your fingers touching it.! ;) Their soups also are quite delicious. Nice to eat @ Morro Rock while gazing at the ocean. We also REALLY like their carrot/sweet potato/vanilla CREAMSICLE juice!

Kelly M.

Yelp
This place is so addicting! The amount of flavor and freshness in everything is phenomenal. Large portions and great prices. I legit love everything on this menu! Thank you to the amazing staff who do everything here with love and big smiles. Best salad dressings in the county!! Juice bar is fresh AF!!!! Mint Forest is bomb!

Nicole A.

Yelp
I was excited to come here since there are a lot of great options, but I was a little disappointed. I ordered two smoothies ($8 each) and sat inside while I waited. A whole 30 minutes passed as I watched other people receive their meals and juices. I am not an impatient person, but sitting there waiting for two smoothies as other people continued to be served started to make me irritable. It also wasn't very busy. I finally decided to go up to the juice bar and check on my order, and the guy said, "They're right here." He had previously brought out every item to the customers so why would I have any idea that I needed to come grab them myself. They were behind the counter, not visible to customers so I really did not understand his logic. Besides the subpar service, the smoothies were okay. Probably will never come back here due to the long ass wait.

Ashley C.

Yelp
I make a point to come here every time I'm in town. Delicious, fresh, and restoring food no matter what you order.

Jeffrey S.

Yelp
Sacramento Shine Cafe, my son and I wanted a wick bite with nice atmosphere so we close Shine. We were greeted warmly and were helped with our order. The food promptly arrived and was ok, our sandwiches were ok. They have have great live music and that's wonderful to sit watch as you enjoy your meal.
