Ship & Plough

Over the course of the last year, my social media has targeted me with posts from the Ship and Plough. After some research, I decided that if we ever got to Manitoba, we would absolutely make the effort to support this establishment. As luck would have it, we ended up in Winnipeg, so decided to make the trip to Gimli and we are glad we did! This pleasant pub serves up some delicious food options. I ordered the sweet potato curry and thoroughly enjoyed the coconutty/peanut buttery flavour. My partner ordered the mac & cheese and it was delicious (I sampled)! There is a good selection of Manitoba craft brews, and we were able to try some beers we have not had before. Kristy (I hope this is correct) was awesome and made sure we knew what sort of vegetarian options were available to us. She talked to us throughout the night, promoted upcoming shows and encouraged us to return (which we will). We thoroughly enjoyed this establishment!

Stop by on a slow day which matched the service. The waitress was friendly and pleasant. I ordered the "club" but to my disappointment it was merely a chicken, bacon sandwich(only two slices of bread instead of three) not a real club. There was a small amount of chicken and bacon mostly it was lettuce and tomato. For $18 bucks with a small cup of fries it wasn't worth it even if the cost of food has gone up. It was prepared decently. The place was a little too dark for the middle of the day but it was cozy. I would explore other establishments in gimli before I return to this place. I have left a photo of what a real club looks like, hopefully this will help.

I stopped in for dinner, and it was my first time there. The restaurant is small and quaint. It was obvious they had live music at times, and the walls were adorned with autographed pictures of performers who have performed there - some were very famous names. My server greeted me quickly and allowed me to choose my seat. I ordered their fish tacos, and my drink and the food came out in a reasonable time - no complaints. The order came with 3 tacos, and the first one had nuggets of fish, so that's how I thought it came. But the 2nd and 3rd were whole, intact filets. They were lightly breaded and came out hot and tasty. They're topped with a red cabbage coleslaw and a balsamic dressing. I found the dressing tasty, but it overwhelmed the delicate flavour of the pickerel. I believe there was a swipe of quacomole under the fish, but I couldn't taste it due to the balsamic. If I could make one suggestion, it would be to serve it with a lighter, more subtle sauce to let the pickerel fish shine. Would I order it again? Yes, but with the balsamic on the side. It's worth a visit.

Deeeelitious!!! We stopped in for a drinkypoo, and yummy it was deeeelitious! Kgb got a tequila shumtjin and I got a long island ice tea or shumtjin, then we started tossing chairs around, got in a couple of fuites, don u come here mor Judnngimme one more n.oll showyo shumtjin fo pinch It was lovely and the bartenders were very deeeelightful and they have lots of music there on the weekends usually!

The food was great. Had fish and chips and the fish tacos. Only diwside with the coleslaw dressing which was a bit lemon forward and not creamy. Service great. Ambience was dark wood which seemed to suit the vibe. Other complsints about wait time for food are not relevant inless its a music night and they are packed. Grest beer selection. Wirth stopping in.

My family ate there At lunchtime. All our meals were amazing. We had chicken BLTs and the borsch and dill pickle soup. We all agreed the borsch was the best we’ve ever had. We will all definitely be back.

Stopped in for a lunch and our experience was nothing but awesome! Service was great and the food was delicious. We felt so comfortable there and would definitely go back for another very pleasant visit! Go there, you'll love it.

After first attempting another place to no avail, we found ourselves at the Ship and Plough. Started with the longship lemonade to wet the whistle. The drink was so good it needed 2 more to go with the meal. Ordered the Fish and Chips and Wow, were we not disappointed. Was starting to tire of fish and chips being the same same. Having them here was an experience in itself. Highly recommend.
