"Sundays are for Sunsets at Shirley Heights No visit to Antigua is complete without taking in the sunset atop Shirley Heights Lookout at its weekly Sunday sundowner party. The view from Shirley Heights is without a doubt the most famous, most photographed, most celebrated vista gracing Antigua. Immediately below, English and Falmouth Harbours clutch their bays. On clear days you can see Guadeloupe to the south and Montserrat with it's still active volcano to the south west. It does get busy, so expect a crowd and while there might be a couple locals sprinkled in here and there, it's mostly visitors. Around 7ish, the tunes crank up with either some reggae classics, some pumping soca, or even live a steelpan band. Smoke from a collection of barbecues compete with the music to fill the air and stimulate your senses. Expect chicken and ribs slathered in local flavors, plus burgers for the less adventurous. I did have some trouble getting grilled fish on my last visit, but once I found some, it was charred to perfection."

Shirley Heights Lookout Restaurant A Must Visit for Sunset Views & History Lovers! Visited during my trip to Antigua not for the food, but for the breathtaking panoramic views and rich historical setting. Even without dining, the experience was unforgettable. If you're coming just for the views and history, it's still 100% worth it! The restaurant is built among restored military ruins, transforming a historic site into a vibrant, open air destination full of Caribbean charm. 📍 Location Tip: Located inside a national park with entrance fee of $40 EC / $15 USD (includes access to the Officer's Quarters & The Blockhouse). ✨ What Makes It Special: Perched high above English and Falmouth Harbours, the views especially at sunset or sunrise are absolutely stunning. Watching the harbor glow under golden skies is truly magical. ✨️ Helpful Tips: ⏳️ Arrive early on Sundays for the best seats and to avoid long lines (based on reviews). 🌅 Weekdays are quieter and great for a peaceful experience. 💲 Bring cash/card, food & drinks can be pricey, but the vibe makes up for it (according to other reviews). 📸 Don’t forget your camera, this place is a goldmine for sunrise and sunset photography! Even without trying the food or drinks, I can say Shirley Heights is a must see in Antigua. From local music and culture to its unbeatable views, it’s perfect for travelers looking to experience the island’s spirit. Whether you're there to dance, relax with a drink, or just take in the view this spot delivers.

10$ USD entrance I went on a reggae Thursday, the food line takes about 20-30 minutes but it’s actually very good. Highly recommend huge vibe with a great view of the bay

Heights and views beautiful. AVOID FOOD. Full tourist - calling that jerk chicken was a war crime. It’s roast chicken with a jerk sauce over it, served with chips. Service was glum: like I’d offended them in another life. Must go for the view, just don’t get hungry.

A must-do for an intimate island experience with great music, lovely views. Reggae Thursdays are supposedly quieter than Sundays but my, still very busy with a good 20-30 minute wait to get thru the food line. Didn't seem streamlined or with much verbal direction so come with patience. A few servers and cooks weren't happy to be there, others were kind. The grilled wahoo was excellent and worth the wait. Music was the best part.

This a must visit spot on a Sunday. The vibes are definitely there - especially the sunset, the music is jamming with the steel pan and live music, food smells on the grill, & drinks are on deck(but byob to avoid the lines). Hire a professional driver to get there; unless you are comfortable with driving on the left side at night. Purchase your tickets in advance! The line for the food and drinks can get long during peak hours. Go early! Wear comfortable shoes. Ladies, leave the heels! You can end up straining an ankle if you are careful.

Yes there is a fee to show up... Food and service is good. Definitely go on a Thursday or Sunday. Reggae Thursday is a vibe.

Shirley heights on a Sunday is a must! Don't drive...get there early if you want to get a seat. Even with the rain we managed to get a view of a beautiful sunset. The queues for the food are long so plan in advance so you dont miss the sunset as the place fills up pretty quick. The steel band were great and the rum punch was on another level!
