"Sundays are for Sunsets at Shirley Heights No visit to Antigua is complete without taking in the sunset atop Shirley Heights Lookout at its weekly Sunday sundowner party. The view from Shirley Heights is without a doubt the most famous, most photographed, most celebrated vista gracing Antigua. Immediately below, English and Falmouth Harbours clutch their bays. On clear days you can see Guadeloupe to the south and Montserrat with it's still active volcano to the south west. It does get busy, so expect a crowd and while there might be a couple locals sprinkled in here and there, it's mostly visitors. Around 7ish, the tunes crank up with either some reggae classics, some pumping soca, or even live a steelpan band. Smoke from a collection of barbecues compete with the music to fill the air and stimulate your senses. Expect chicken and ribs slathered in local flavors, plus burgers for the less adventurous. I did have some trouble getting grilled fish on my last visit, but once I found some, it was charred to perfection."

If you go to Nelson's Dockyard, you must stop off here first to get great views and photos of the dockyard from a high point. There are some shops up here and a museum worth visiting. The area covered by the heights is quite large, but tour vans will surely take you to the 2 or 3 main areas. The island you will see on he horizon is 'Montserrat.' Because there are 3 sites called ' Shirley Heights' I have put this review and pictures on all of them. Enjoy the heights, then Nelson's Dockyard.

We went on Sunday and had a lovely time. Amazing live music with a good atmosphere. Two wonderful bands. The queue for drinks wasn’t too bad however a very long queue for the food

Would definitely recommend, incredible experience. Sundays are very busy, get there early if you want a seat. Also eat before sunset as the lines get crazy.

Went to the Sunday BBQ which was fun and also very busy. Considering the volume of food which is cooked on a series of BBQ’s it was excellent and the best jerk chicken we had on the holiday. Beer and drinks are expensive It gets very crowded Views are amazing Music is good Would I go again? Yes

Came here on a private tour and had lunch with this amazing view. and the best thing was, it was just us there! No loud Americans, just the peace and tranquillity

Wow! The views are incredible! When you enter, you don’t have to go directly to the restaurant. If you pass to the left, you’ll see some old remains of an old fort, and some amazing views of the south side of the island. If you look far off in the distance, you can also see Guadeloupe in the distance. Once you cross over to the restaurant, you will see more stunning views and you can also see Montserrat and some uninhabited islands that act as animal and bird sanctuaries. The food was amazing! I highly recommend the jerk chicken, but if you don’t like spicy food— be wary. Everything was very affordable and you get some great views of the island you can’t see from anywhere else.

You'll see half of scenic Antigua named from a spot named for Admiral Nelson's lady love. The remains of the old British barracks remind one of the not so distant past. You might see Eric Clapton's retreat from this vantage. Good musician if anything.

Stopped here on a cruise tour. Very beautiful views. The gift shop was closed but there were a few local vendors.
