This Tropical Island Has 365 Beaches—One for Every Day of the Year

"A restored military gun battery turned panoramic lookout that offers sweeping views across the harbor and sailboat-speckled inlets, and is renowned for its lively Sunday-night sunset gatherings featuring steel-pan music, barbecue and drinks — a memorable local tradition." - Carley Rojas Avila Carley Rojas Avila Carley Rojas Avila is a bilingual travel writer, editor, and content marketer. This place is out of this world. The views are spectacular the atmosphere is second to none. The food is so tasty. You come here and soak up everything. It fills your soul and your heart to the maximum. It's a place that's definitely top on my list and it should be top of your list of places to visit

If you go to Nelson's Dockyard, you must stop off here first to get great views and photos of the dockyard from a high point. There are some shops up here and a museum worth visiting. The area covered by the heights is quite large, but tour vans will surely take you to the 2 or 3 main areas. The island you will see on he horizon is 'Montserrat.' Because there are 3 sites called ' Shirley Heights' I have put this review and pictures on all of them. Enjoy the heights, then Nelson's Dockyard.

We went on Sunday March 9th and yes it was very busy. But it was fun chatting with people from other countries and taking in the spectacular views of English harbour. Probably one of the most picturesque places we've ever watched a sunset. The steel drum band playing was great and seeing a reggae band live for the first time was memorable. Certainly a sight to see when in Antigua

Forget the Sunday and Thursday ritual go during another day of the week and take in the views and history of this historic site. There are always stall holders selling souvenirs, and toilets and a bar/cafe on site.

Sunday night for the sunset and steel band is great. It is busy but we found a spot to perch on the wall with a great view of the sunset and the harbour.

We got free entry on a sunday as part of our island tour. The view was amazing but it was very cloudy so we didn’t see the sunset. The music was lively and at 6:30pm, a new band started playing majority western music so everyone was singing along. The reason for my 3 stars is that the chicken (just chicken, not burger) gave me really bad food poisoning (it was the only thing i ate that day). Didn’t really get to enjoy the last few days of my stay since i was in bed.
