An absolute must-visit for any Totoro and Hayao Miyazaki fan. Tucked away in a quiet, charming neighborhood, the shop feels like stepping into a real-life Studio Ghibli scene. From the moment you arrive, the whimsical details and cozy atmosphere make it clear this place is something special.
We added our names to the wait list shortly after arriving and were pleasantly surprised by how quickly we were seated upstairs. The café menu offers a lovely selection of drinks (required per person) and light fare, including coffee, tea, and seasonal beverages, along with sweet treats that perfectly complement the star of the show, the cream puffs. The Totoro-shaped cream puffs come in a variety of flavors depending on the season, and they are almost too cute to eat… almost. Each one is light, creamy, and absolutely delicious. Trust me, you can’t stop at just one. Coming earlier in the day is highly recommended, as the cream puffs are known to sell out quickly, sometimes as early as noon.
The bakery is actually located on the first floor where you can pick up baked goods to go. The TOLO coffee and bakery is located on the second floor and it offers delicious pastas and other small bites. Between the charming setting, delightful treats, and magical Ghibli vibes, Shiro-Hige’s Cream Puff Shop is a memorable experience and a highlight you won’t want to miss.
